I replaced the thermostat in my truck is running warmer than it normally did. Thanks for the peptalk pimp. I’m gonna replace the thermostat again tomorrow, I’m sure that’s it.
2004 ram 4.7l with 143k miles. New radiator. 180 thermostat. New water pump. Az summer runs at the line or a little past the line if at a stop light. Never did that before. No leaks. Runs good. Good to see I’m not crazy either.
@@autoguydiy4244 it is a 2 year old fan clutch I replaced with the water pump. Actually running into it getting between middle and H at stoplights. When driving it goes back to middle. Do you know the temp ranges? The dodge manual doesn’t say
For Texas summers. Go with a 165° or 180° My 2500 diesel never reaches halfway but it does get very close. I plan on having the system cleaned with CLR. Install new pump, sensor and coolant soon.
Why cant the manufacturers offer a digital temperature gauge with the exact temperature of the coolant instead those analog ones with lines on the faces?
Im having a problem where my engine is only getting up to about 183° instead of 195° to 210°. Running a bit rich and rough. Looking into thermostat issues i learned that sometimes the temp will increase by 10° to 20° over the set temp for that specific thermostat. The guy i got the truck from said he changed it but dodnt know what temp it was set for. so im thinking maybe he put in a 165° and that's s why im underheating. I got a 195° im going to put in and see if i can get it back up a bit. Was just thinking that maybe that was your case of overheating. You got a 203° and maybe it was running up to 220° or 230° and getting a bit warm? They dont always keep your engine at the desired temp! Might not have been a bad thermostat you got but just need maybe the 195° instead of the 203° you got for it. Who knows..
Thanks brother I have a 2016 changed the thermostat because it overheated but not losing any coolant. Well truck acting the same way after replacing the thermostat so I thought we’ll maybe the water pump is getting bad like maybe the metal plate/gasket has a hole in it. But that wasn’t the case. So pulled the new thermostat off took it back out another one on it same damn problem! But my temp will go all the way to the red line and then cool back down to 194 and then creep back up to 220 if I’m driving it. If I stop at a light back to the red she will head but if I rev up the motor it will cool back down. Now keep in mind with the engine in the red my heater is cold air. Got any ideals? I’m stumped!
I have problem whit my truck it is Dodge Ram 2005 2500 5.9 diesel . When I’m drive temperature going little down sometimes going little up idk why ? Already change thermostat and coolant temperature sensor . Can you help please
My 05 doge Dakota 4.7 temp was going fine and using my AC,but when I came to a 2 mile slight hill the temp began climbing to 80% . Once I reached the top of the hill temp dropped back to normal ...any ideas guys ?
Man, I’m having some issues with my 2007 dodge ram 1500 4.7. Replaced thermostat, water pump, fan clutch and The ECT. Still having similar issues! Looks good for a good bit, than it starts jumping up. Goes down alittle, temp is about 230. Wondering if it’s a cheap thermostat….
I have a 04 ram 4.7 with 145k miles. 2022 new radiator, 180 thermostat, water pump and fan clutch. Now az 110 summer is here after work it goes to middle from middle to h when stopped or idle. Driving at speed it stays in middle. You figure out what it is? Could just it being a 20 year old az truck. Runs fine in 70 degree mornings.
@@autoguydiy4244 99% sure it’s a new cap. I have the old cap and fan clutch I might swap and try. Could be easy. The fluid is a little below the “fill or full” line. Can’t see anymore what it says. Might top that off to the line as well
Mine seems to be working after I let the car run a while, then my heater will heat up but it takes a few minutes. I replaced the radiator, but not the therm. And was wondering why my new radiator is only taking the first 2 gallons of premix I put in. Any ideas what that could be would be a great help.
It will alway take awhile to warm up as in the heater. It works off the hot Coolant. The extra antifreeze just drive it a little bit then check it could be an air pocket trapped
We have this problem but we changed our themar stat and radian cap but I looking g through Google saying something about changing out the antifreeze out after 100,000 km we will way more than 100k km
Brh I have a 1992 chevy s10 blazer I changed the water pump, thermostat and that's what it was doing it would touch half and go down, driving it longer it would go over half and stay there but would only come down when I basically stop driving
@rafabri9306 take your belt off and check your water pump for noisy or sloppy bearing. Spin pully and try to move it around to see if there is excessive play
Finally found a video with a similar issue. Thank you!
Glad to help buddy
I’m going through this problem now thanks for the video

Go with a Murry ultra thermostat
If you do not buy a good brand, it won't open when needed! The Cheapest one isn't the way to go.
I’ve replaced the radiator, water pump, thermostat 2x, fan clutch, and it’s still getting warmer than it should. 😂

Have you check the fan to see if it is still engaging after some heat

@jonnyboi3048 well on the 4.7 I do not.

My temp gauge stays where it supposed to, but for some reason I don’t have heat. Just lukewarm air
My ‘07 RAM 1500 with a 5.7 hemi has always run a hair to the R of centre. ALWAYSSSSS.
Sweet, as long as it doesn't over heat.
Same thing with me bro smh , bought a new one when I changed out my water pump. Having temperature fluctuations

My 2018 Ram has both.
@Everclearish my 09 has both also
They do now.

Could be a stopped up heater core
What brand thermostat
fan clutch.
I always use Fail Safe thermostat and if they break they always break open and your not stuck on side of road .
Fail safe thermostats are junk

Yes, your heater works off the hot water in the engine

What kind of fan do you have mechanical are electric
Anyone know the temp ranges for our thermostat? Got a 04 ram with 4.7l. Gauge looks like that.
An OBD 2 scanner will tell you. Best $25 you'll spend.
Mannn I changed my thermostat and oil coolant housing truck still overheating 🤷
