You might just saved me an arm and a leg. I was about to take my truck to the dealer because there is no heat in my truck during the winter. It just blows cold air. Your video might be my solution. Thank you.
You are the man. So many videos and so many options. Flushed entire cooling system including heater core 3 times, no heat. The blend door seemed to work. But after watching your video it was doing the same thing. Unplugged it, BINGO! I have heat. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! 😊💓☺
Actually that is the proper operation of the door, if you are not getting a lot of heat, check your engine thermostat or maybe your heater core is starting to get plugged. Might need a coolant flush and while your are at it, change the thermostat. your heat should work just fine. Just some advice from a 15 year ASE Master Tech.
I own a 99 dodge ram 1500, changed the thermostat and did a coolant flush, still lukewarm. I read in a forum that the tubes that lead into your fire wall into heatercore should both be warm to the touch at operating temperature to ensure a good conditioned heater core, they both were warm. I have not tried this method with this circulating door.
That was a godsend my heater is working great now thank you so much for the awesome video and an easy way to fix this problem may God bless you and your family thank you
Recirculating cabin air passing it trough the heating core will make it warmer (only if your heating core is hot). However, if the heating core is partially plugged the air will not get that hot. Recirculating air all the time will make the windows to fog up in some days likely in really cold or when there is a lot of moisture in the air.
Just pull off the blower fan under passenger dash (3 screws). remove the glove box . Reach a hand up through the hole where the fan was mounted while flashlighting through the window/grate behind the glove box. You'll see the recirculating air door and motor (Break away that plastic grate if you want). You can now see through to guide your hand to unplug the motor to the recirc door. I just did this to reinstall a broken door and sealed it permanently shut recurculating. Clean those fan blades on the blower fan while it's uninstalled... .
This video got the heat working decently in my buddies 03 2500 Ram with the 5.9 Cummins. It's not hot hot but the truck is at least warm now, thank you! The setup under the dash in this truck was a little different, but this video gives you just about everyone you need to know. You don't actually have to take all the dash pieces off, just the glovebox. Then you can pop the side panel off and reach through there with a screwdriver to push the lever to release the clip for the actuator and reach underneath with your other hand to pull it out. Thanks again
On my 2008 1500 the door was just a little stuck. I cleaned it and put some silicone spray on it and it started working again. When the fan motor is turned off the door is supposed to shut. It should only open when the control is turned to a setting that is for recirculation. You may not need to unplug the motor if your door just needs to be cleaned and lubed.
I went to do this and I figured out the door had broken off and someone went t ahead and threw it away...-_- So I basically got a nice thick piece of cardboard cut it to size put it in put red tape all around it to hold it in and then I unplugged my actuator just in case. Figured I’d let y’all know if anyone else runs into not having a door at all. Nice video
The actuator is snapped together you can also,be careful becouse the is little plastic gears inside but if the actuator is bad dosnt matter if they fall out, after popping bottom off you will see the shaft that tirns in cycle of hot to cold take a pair of small pliers and turn closing the door. The actuator is bad just replace when you can so you can use the switche property agin

If you do what he did and make the recirculation door stay in the recirculate position, you very likely will have fogged up windows unless the air conditioner is on all the time to dehumidify along with the heat control being on. It would be a lot better to properly diagnose the problem and fix it right instead of what they call jury rigging.

Hi going to flush heater core first , to make sure toal surface of core it hot, & then ,do what you just showed 👍😊 . Hopefully? Give heat back to driver's side & driver's floor? Thank Y😊u !
There is a reason the fresh air intake is there. It allows fresh air into the cab so your windows do not fog up. It should only be closed when you have the setting on recirculate or max .
This may help but I'm not convinced it resolves issue. It may get warmer but at the cost of fogging. Low heat is usually a sign of a bad/clogged heater core. Check fluid (coolant/antifreeze) level before anything. Low levels also cause poor heat.

Mopar junk pretty much
@@djscottymaxx haha...better than mopar is?
Worked on 2002. Thanks
Would this be same for 2013 Ram 1500?
I’m curious to know this too.
My passenger side blows hot but my driver side blows cold
@@craigwoods5492 same here.
Anyone know if this will work on the 2nd gens
No outside air you will fog up windows in cold weather.
You need dry out side air.
So there.
Thats why the a/c compressor kicks on when its on defrost.
Great video brother neighbors 02 ram doing same thing I'll try this. I knew u tube was good for something stay warm homie lol
Hope it works !
chuck kososky hey chuck have a question I have a 2011 ram 1500 that has no heat I’ll change the 3 vent doors and flash de heater core change the thermostat and still no heat the heater core it’s not leaking the blowing motor works any tips. Thank you
@@enriquevaldovinos5544 I have the same issue did you get yours fixed?
Hi going to flush heater core first , to make sure toal surface of core it hot, & then ,do what you just showed 👍😊 . Hopefully? Give heat back to driver's side & driver's floor? Thank Y😊u !
I’m haveing the same issue but only when I’m sitting still I got heat as soon as I start driving it goes cold
Well this work on a 2010 Cummins I’m having the same problem. Trucks only blowing cool air.
03 Dodge Ram 1500 turn blower fan on and nothing. So ????
Thanks Chuck, trying to track down the source of my mysteriously vanishing heat. I'll have to let you know if this was my problem.
Hope this helps dont thing it's a permanent fix bit it's good for now
Where would this be on my 2013 ram
What if my recirculation door isn't there, like at all. What can I do without buying a recirculation door?
Your door might of broke off they do that look down into box see if its laying there
There is a reason the fresh air intake is there. It allows fresh air into the cab so your windows do not fog up. It should only be closed when you have the setting on recirculate or max .
Dont have an issue with my windows staying fogged
@@AllThingsCool would the true fix be to change the vent door motor that you unplugged. I dont want to fog up the windows
Design Let's in too much colds air......Recirculation ☆ selection on fan switch keeps Outside door closed....But heat is only thru middle vents
Thanks. I'll see if that's the issue I have.
I've flushed the heater core several times but this could be the problem. 👍
Hope it helps ?
I just got home from work and would you believe it, The vacuum arm on my re circ door is leaving it on freash air.
Thanks a ton.
@@markbroad119 glad to hear u found your issue !!!!
This may help but I'm not convinced it resolves issue. It may get warmer but at the cost of fogging.
Low heat is usually a sign of a bad/clogged heater core.
Check fluid (coolant/antifreeze) level before anything. Low levels also cause poor heat.
yea just a quick fix
thank you
Do have to hook that back up when it's time to run your air conditioning
yes I would
@@AllThingsCool a/c gets colder if its allowerd to recirculate its own cooled air, and not draw in hotter air to compete with so i think this mod wold be fire...if you want freash air, your only otion now is to opena window
What year is your truck?
2003
It seems like the A/C is still blowing when I turn heat on.
Same here. I like to know if your heater core been replaced
@@Mark-pz3lq I don't think so. I bought this truck a couple of months ago. It was summer in Arizona.
Did u ever figure out what the problem was?
