Weltfenos Even the most crazy and stubborn leaders know when it's not worth it. Think about this. Let's say that the SAA and the SDF fully take over ISIS and all the other rebel groups territory, which is likely because of the fact they have barley attacked each other and have common enemies. At that moment Assad has to make a decision. Either he tries to invade the Kurds, or let's Syria split. When this decision happens the SDF will control about 1/3 of Syria. While he may want to reclaim all of Syria, attacking the Kurds would be political and economical suicide for him. The time it takes Assad to make his decision, will give temporary peace to Syrians. If he disturbes that peace, he will have more angry civilians, which will make the war worse by a potential new rebel army or protest right outside his door, and increase his chances of being killed. Economically this is a bad idea too since all Assad will try claiming is cities that have been damaged beyond repair and a Syrian desert. So even if Assad managed to prolong the war to the point of getting rid of the SDF, he will be in an economic crisis that will be too hard to come back from since literally all his cities besides the capital will be liabilities instead of assets.

@@kevine5703 ayyubids have nothing to do with iran In the light of the above outline, is it proper to think of the Ayyubid confederation as a specifically “Kurdish” state? On the level of political structure, the governing attitudes of the Ayyubid confederation can certainly be related to the political institutions of their original homeland. On the other hand, these institutions do not differ significantly from the underlying structures of contemporary Turkish states, and in many ways the Ayyubids can be understood simply as a successor kingdom to the Saljuqs.

Ege Yaman I am a Han Chinese. The story is simple. If you really just want to count the original people in Xinjiang, then this land belongs to Tocharians, an extinct Indo-European group who are relatives of today's Iranian(Aryan) But that's 2000 years ago. After that, Xinjiang was Han dynasty's protectorate. We Han Chinese are the governors until Jin dynasty 's controll of this region collapsed around 300AD. After the collapse of the Han dynasty and before the rise of Sui/Tang dynasties, Xinjiang was occupied between various groups of nomads. The Gokturk Khaganate controlled Xinjiang after it overthrown Rouran and before it was defeated decisively by Tang. This period was roughly between 500AD and 680AD. After that, this land returned to Chinese dynasty until the battle of talas and An Lushan's rebel in the 750s. Later it was annexed by Uyghurs, another Turkic group who betrayed the original Turkic Khaganate. Does this land have a connection with Turks? Yes, I never deny that. However, in a timely fashion, this land was occupied by Tocharians, Han Chinese, other nomads including Xianbei/Rouran, then Gokturks, later Han Chinese again, finally Uyghurs, Mongols, Manchurian and now Han Chinese/Uyghurs again. Follow your logic, we have even stronger claim than you since we occupied the region even earlier and had a long history of governance. (Unless you count Tocharians but they are extinct.) Moreover, Uyghurs who are the majority of Xinjiang today were traitors to the United Gokturk federation as well as traitors to western Gokturk/Oghuz Turk and their descendants like Seljuks and Ottomans. Uyghurs who were descendants of eastern Gokturk surrendered to my ancestors in Tang dynasty and joined our force to expel the western Gokturk. They made their own historical choice of joining Han Chinese and fight the majority of other Turks. Their action justified they would rather stay in China than fighting for a united Turkic Khaganate. If they are true nationalists, why not stay loyal to your Khan and defeat China once for all? As Tocharians are extinct, then it's reality to decide who are masters of Xinjiang. Han Chinese in the Sui/Tang dynasty split Gokturk and made eastern Gokturk(ancestors of Uyghurs) to fight for us. So accept your defeat. Ever read Orkhon inscriptions? Your ancestors have told you the lesson, there are always Turks who love the wealth and beauty from China, then they are lured and decided to fight for us instead of other Turkic brothers. You thought the majority of the descendants of eastern Gokturk traitors and Chinese lovers would fight for you today? I don't think so.
Chi Zhang Uygurs are descendants of Tokharians, Soghdians, Karakhanids etc. The language is not the only factor here, you should see the culture, music, race... China historically invaded this land, last time happened in 1949. Current important issue of Xinjiang is that the aboriginal people (Uygurs) doesn't live in peace. China give them fake Autonomy but settled millions of Han Chinese in this state to change the demographics of Xinjiang. China is acting like Nazis and fascists, currently near a million Uygurs are kept in camps.

Who are you. A semite, a recent immigrant, a religious fanatic, cultureless desert bedouin to tell me to leave my ancient lush homeland? “The word kurti is from sumerian and means: "kur" means mountain/hill and "ti" means from. So it means the people from the mountains/hills. This word kurti is the oldest known word which describes the kurds from 3000 BC. In 1923, English Orientalist Sir Godfrey Rolles Driver published a scientific research article "The Name Kurd and Its Philological Connexions". Driver, who was also an Assyriologist had tried to find who was the Qurti who had lived around the lake Van and with whom Assyrian warrior Tiglath-Pileser "I had fought" in ~1050 BC. Driver also tried to find the connection between Qurti and "the land of Karda" [Kardaka] text which was written on a Sumerian clay-tablet, of the third millennium B.C. Sumerians called the area around Lake Van a land of Karda. Driver examined the philological variations of Karda in different languages, such as Cordueni, Gordyeni, Kordyoui, Karduchi, Kardueni, Qardu, Kardaye, Qardawaye. He realized that all these names were actually the conversions of "Karda" in different languages. Also, he managed to connect all these names to the same area, Lake Van in contemporary Kurdistan. Sumerian called it the land of "Karda" (3000 BC) Tiglath-Pileser I had fought against "Qurti" from the same area (1050 BC) Greek historian Xenophon called people who lived around Lake Van a "Karduchi" people. He called the area a Corduene (400 BC) Artakhshir, the founder of the Persian Sassanid dynasty fought against the "Madrig the King of Kurdan" in same area (226 AD) Driver reaches a conclusion that the term Kurd wasn't used differently by different nations and roots of modern Kurds can be found from the ancient Corduene region. He also said that the root of ancient Kurds are very likely in the land of Kardas.” “There is no doubt that the Kurds are one of the oldest nations in the Middle East. Distinct from their Arab and Turkish neighbors, many scholars agree that the Kurds are descendants of a mixture of peoples formed of indige- nous inhabitants and subsequent Indo-European immigrants who settled the region for more than three thousand years. Their ancient history, which stretches from 3000 to 400 BC, was a period of high disturbances between Kurdistan and the neighboring powers. According to the records of those powers, a group of people residing in Kurdistan, known as the Gutis then, were able to establish a ruling dynasty in the region between 2250 and 2120 BC. For the next 1,500 years after the fall of the Gutis, however, Kurdistan was a scene for military invasions, looting, and destruction executed by their neighbors. Those actions which drove the entire region into a social and economic depression led to the transformation of Kurdistan (which was witnessing subsequent Aryan immigra- tion waves) into an Indo-European-speaking society. Indigenous inhabitants along with other Aryan immigrants were able to establish their own empire-the Median Empire-which ruled vast areas of the Middle East between 612 and 549 BC. The establishment of the Median Empire and subsequent dynasties by the newly formed Kurdish people as well as by other peoples kept Kurdistan relatively independent of external rule until the Islamic conquest in the 7th cen- tury AD. After three centuries of Islamic rule, the Kurds started to reemerge powerfully again, particularly with the establishment of Kurdish dynasties that ruled large areas of the region. Among those dynasties were the Mamlanids or the Rawwadids (920-1071), the Buwayhid Daylamites (932-1062), the Shad- dadids (951-1174), the Hasnawayhids (959-1015), the Marwanids (983-1085), and the Ayyubids (1169-15th century)”. www.academia.edu/22839987/The_Kurds_and_Kurdistan_a_general_background The Gutians are the ancestors of the Kurds, and there of comes the name Kurd. The Assyrian King Tiglath-pileser 1. called the Gutians by the name Qurtie, and the Sumerians called them Kar-Da-Ka. Today Kurds call themselves Kurdi. So stop spreading misinformation. Quote and text from TIGLATH-PILESER! “Indication 1: Q(K)urti (in the far North of Mesopotamia) and Guti (power base mainly NW Iran and central Zagros) did not represent two different people, Speiser outlined, but the Q(K)urti were only a tribe of the Guti. Reason: the terms Guti und Q(K)urti had been used in cuneiform sources since the 13th century B.C. E. (in some occasions) identical and interchangeable, indicating one people (comprehensive population), for example in the following parallel-passage, as Speiser calls it, documented in inscriptions of the Assyrian ruler Tukulti-Enruta I (ca. 1250 B.C.E.): Text: “On my accession to the royal throne, in my first year of reign, 28,800 warriors of the Hittites from the other side of the Euphrates I carried off, and in the mist of the Iaura mountains the Qurti, the Uqumani, as far as Sharnida (and) Mehri, my hand conquered”36. file.scirp.org/Html/8-1590228_49273.htm University of Cambridge: “(...) earliest trace of the Kurds is to be found on a Sumerian clay-tablet, of the third millennium B.C., on which “ the land of Kar-da ” or “ Qar-da ” is mentioned. This “ land of Karda ” adjoined that of the people of Su, who dwelt on the south of Lake Wân, and seems in all probability to have been connected with the Qur-ṭi-e, who lived in the mountains to the west of the same lake, and with whom Tiglath-Pileser I fought(...)”. www.cambridge.org/core/journals/journal-of-the-royal-asiatic-society/article/name-kurd-and-its-philological-connexions/2B082E676ADF5F4ACEE0351F9F30660E Ask the Sumerians, ask Tiglath-Pileser, ask Xenophone, ask Herodotus of Miletus, ask the Sassanians. Weltfenos At this rate, Assad will have to give the Kurds land or else face more years of war. So looking likely
Luke Detering really? I think that would be the last thing Assad would do. What with his big head & all.
Luke Detering if Assad did think that much through, you have a point there.
Thank you Weltfenos

@@kevine5703 ayyubids have nothing to do with iran
In the light of the above outline, is it proper to think of the Ayyubid confederation as a specifically “Kurdish” state? On the level of political structure, the governing attitudes of the Ayyubid confederation can certainly be related to the political institutions of their original homeland. On the other hand, these institutions do not differ significantly from the underlying structures of contemporary Turkish states, and in many ways the Ayyubids can be understood simply as a successor kingdom to the Saljuqs.

I am a Han Chinese.
(Unless you count Tocharians but they are extinct.)
Moreover, Uyghurs who are the majority of Xinjiang today were traitors to the United Gokturk federation as well as traitors to western Gokturk/Oghuz Turk and their descendants like Seljuks and Ottomans.

Sumerian called it the land of "Karda" (3000 BC)
Tiglath-Pileser I had fought against "Qurti" from the same area (1050 BC)
Greek historian Xenophon called people who lived around Lake Van a "Karduchi" people. He called the area a Corduene (400 BC)
Artakhshir, the founder of the Persian Sassanid dynasty fought against the "Madrig the King of Kurdan" in same area (226 AD)
Driver reaches a conclusion that the term Kurd wasn't used differently by different nations and roots of modern Kurds can be found from the ancient Corduene region. He also said that the root of ancient Kurds are very likely in the land of Kardas.”
“There is no doubt that the Kurds are one of the oldest nations in the
Middle East. Distinct from their Arab and Turkish neighbors, many scholars
agree that the Kurds are descendants of a mixture of peoples formed of indige-
nous inhabitants and subsequent Indo-European immigrants who settled the
region for more than three thousand years. Their ancient history, which stretches from 3000 to 400 BC, was a period of high disturbances between Kurdistan and
the neighboring powers. According to the records of those powers, a group of
people residing in Kurdistan, known as the Gutis then, were able to establish a
ruling dynasty in the region between 2250 and 2120 BC. For the next 1,500
years after the fall of the Gutis, however, Kurdistan was a scene for military
invasions, looting, and destruction executed by their neighbors. Those actions
which drove the entire region into a social and economic depression led to the
transformation of Kurdistan (which was witnessing subsequent Aryan immigra-
tion waves) into an Indo-European-speaking society. Indigenous inhabitants
along with other Aryan immigrants were able to establish their own empire-the
Median Empire-which ruled vast areas of the Middle East between 612 and
549 BC. The establishment of the Median Empire and subsequent dynasties by
the newly formed Kurdish people as well as by other peoples kept Kurdistan
relatively independent of external rule until the Islamic conquest in the 7th cen-
tury AD. After three centuries of Islamic rule, the Kurds started to reemerge
powerfully again, particularly with the establishment of Kurdish dynasties that
ruled large areas of the region. Among those dynasties were the Mamlanids or
the Rawwadids (920-1071), the Buwayhid Daylamites (932-1062), the Shad-
dadids (951-1174), the Hasnawayhids (959-1015), the Marwanids (983-1085),
and the Ayyubids (1169-15th century)”.
www.academia.edu/22839987/The_Kurds_and_Kurdistan_a_general_background
The Gutians are the ancestors of the Kurds, and there of comes the name Kurd. The Assyrian King Tiglath-pileser 1. called the Gutians by the name Qurtie, and the Sumerians called them Kar-Da-Ka. Today Kurds call themselves Kurdi.
So stop spreading misinformation.

University of Cambridge:
“(...) earliest trace of the Kurds is to be found on a Sumerian clay-tablet, of the third millennium B.C., on which “ the land of Kar-da ” or “ Qar-da ” is mentioned.

Ask the Sumerians, ask Tiglath-Pileser, ask Xenophone, ask Herodotus of Miletus, ask the Sassanians. We were here from the beginning and we will be where till the very end. Unlike your artifical states founded in the 19th century, history is on our side. You can keep your Baghdad and your Basra, but our land is and will always be ours.
However, Kurds are an Iranian people,[33] and the first known Indo-Iranians in the region were the Mitanni, who established a kingdom in northern Syria five centuries after the fall of Gutium.[34] The Mitanni are believed to have spoken an Indo-Aryan language,[35] or perhaps a pre-split Indo-Iranian language.[36][37] The current view is that the separation of Iranian peoples from Indo-Aryans occurred between 1800 and 1600 BCE, which makes it nearly impossible for the Gutians to have been linguistically or culturally Kurdish

Islamic Republic of Iran; Kurds already have a state, and that state is Iran.
Republic of Turkey; There is no such thing as Kurds, they are mountain folk songs.
Arab States; What is Kurds?
Kurdish people ; You may deny us, but the rest of the world knows who we are, LONG LIVE KURDISTAN.
The Ayyubid dynasty is of Kurdish origin but is this enough to label the country as part of "the history of the Kurds"? This is just like Turkish autism when they show the Mughals or the Mamluks of Egypt as a part of their history just because the rulers were of Turkic descent. It is just not something that makes sense in my opinion.
King of Mesopotamia For the first 100 years the Mamluks of Egypt were lead by the Bahri dynasty that was of Cuman (Turkic) origin.

Another fact, the Kurds and the Turks, exterminated the Assyrians, Syriacs and Armenians in WW1.
There is no history of the Kurds, they only entered northern Iraq in the 18th century.

@@qusaiyounis-gz6tkit was Ottomans. Many ethnic groups participated, not only Kurds. Concerning the regions that were inhabited by local Kurds in southeastern Turkey, then yes many Kurds did participate.
First of all Kurds apologized. They recognized the Armenian and Suryoye genocides committed by the Ottomans and apologized for their participation.
Second of all it was not all Kurdish tribes. Many of them did not kill anyone. My ancestors for example were just farmers who had no guns and no reason to kill anybody. And many Kurds even hid Armenians in their homes from Turks.
There are some people like you online who like to demonize all Kurds and Turks as if all of them are responsible for this past act that was not committed by every Kurdish tribe. The Kurds have apologized, the Turks have not. Their government is the problem, not the Kurds. There is no reason to bring this up it has nothing to do with Kurds being native there or not. Kurds have always lived around the mountains around southeastern Turkey, northern Irag and northwestern Iran (these borders didn't exist back then).

Di Vepets Let me explain it for you like a gentle again, The term was indeed used as a self-designation by the Indo-Iranian people, also by the Indic people during the Vedic period in India as an ethnic label for themselves and to refer to a noble class as well as the Geographic region where the Indo-Aryan culture was based in. The racial theories of the term only began during the late 19th & 20th Centuries and the early Nazi ideologies and all that thoughts about it’s supreme over all other races on earth. However in Ancient times, the Idea of being an “Aryan” was Religious, Cultural, Linguistic and not Racial.
