    Besides its limitations I really like the design. I was a big fan of the Playseat Challenge, since the seat construction was surprisingly stable, everlasting and comfortable (more comfy than my later SimLab Bucket seat).

    Its actually pretty easy to jump in after someone else in this cockpit. There is a Huuuuuge amount of space between your legs and wheel. My friend has this rig and he is 5'8" and I am 6'4". I had no issues driving after him for a few hours without any modification whatsoever. This is by far the most Rigid Portable Sim Cockpit on the market. And portable is a massive thing in most sim racers list of desired features.
    Great review as usual and thanks for all the info, I am definitely

    Thank you so much for the review. I received mine this past weekend. I'm excited to finally be a true sim racer with GT 7 out today (on my birthday of all days :) I agree with your take about the adjustability. I am constantly loosening screws and retighting it when switching between my wife, brothers, friends, and myself. It is a nice looking and functioning cockpit overall. Love how light it is as well.

    • @crkvend
      @crkvend 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey Abel, do you find that when switching between users, it’s usually enough to just adjust the main extension (the distance between the front part and back part) or do you feel like you have to also adjust the pedals and the seat?
      I’m thinking maybe it would be possible to just get thumb screws for the main extension, that way you wouldn’t at least need tools.

    • @Abel_GTx
      @Abel_GTx 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@crkvend the pedal tray has a lot of adjustments which makes it easier to adjust to a range of heights. I am 5’9 and my wife is 5’0. When we switch that’s all I have to adjust. It took us a bit to set it up. But once we found the right combinations, it’s become easier.
      It’s is a bit annoying though particularly if you are switching back and forth. But we usually play for 3-5 hours stints. So it’s not too bad.

    Got it 2nd hand a year ago and its a great cockpit, if you are a casual racer that does not swap around drivers and don't have a room just equipped for racing ;-)
    Fits perfect for me 1,85m (75kg) I can sit in it for hours.
    It is very sturdy and might have some tiny tiny flex in it but it does not bother you at all when driving.
    I've got it in my living room and can swap it easily to the corner after being done racing.
    As it is very light & compact as Karl mentions in the video.

I have had a PlaySeat Challenge for around 6 Years + now due to lack of space and thought this would be a great option until I heard the price of it which shocked me. It looks really great in design and great to move around the flat but perhaps on a good sale it may tempt me.

    I‘m considering buying this rig too. The only thing that keeps me from ordering is that I cannot guess how high and adjustable the wheel will sit on the plate and how it will fit my height. I‘m about 174cm. How is the adjustability and comfort if you would tilt the wheel a bit downwards? Is the seating and driving position still okay-ish? How angled would I have to put the screen then to make sense?
    I would attach a Fanatec CSW2.5 with the BMW GT2 wheel.

    It's a good-looking unit. I went for an NLR GT Lite a few years ago, before this was around. If it had been, I would have bought it.
    One modification I would make, if I were in the market, would be to brace the wheel deck at the front with a horizontally-mounted bar, to which I'd fasten 2 uprights which would then go down the the frame (which is running front to rear).
    I think this mod might be fiddly, but it would enable the use of a mid-range DD drive.
    Great review, Karl.
    EDIT: I've just bought a Logi G Pro wheel and an NLR GT Elite aluminium profile rig.

    Great review Karl, and thanks for addressing my question regarding if it can easily be stored in two pieces.
    What surprises me the most about this is that it seems impossible to adjust the seat height (or the wheel height) in any way. The wheel definitely looked to be to high up for you, and if there is no way to change the “ass to wheel” ratio (™️), that seems like a pretty big drawback.
    Edit: According to their website, seat height is adjustable, tho they provide no info whatsoever, nor a download of the manual.

    • @KarlGosling
      @KarlGosling  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      No worries mate, it was a good question to ask!
      lol "ass to wheel ratio" and I like that you trade marked it too!
      But no it's not adjustable, if you extend where that front and back halves join then that also raises or lowers the front of the seat as it's angled, but thats it.

    • @DARKNADAL
      @DARKNADAL 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      You can pretty much adjust seat height with the velcro straps which run under the seating area, not clear in the manual though

    • @crkvend
      @crkvend 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@DARKNADAL but that would then also change the form of the seat as well. The velcro strap is pretty narrow and it would only raise that part of the seat, not the whole “butt area”.

I had the money to burn and there wasn’t anything quite comparable on the market so ultimately decided it was worth it but I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it to someone else.
    I’ve already come up with a pretty nice home brew shifter mount out of some left over plywood in the garage, there’s enough spare bolt hole mounting points that’s it’s pretty easy to work out, I’m sure there will be something on the market soon.

    Thanks for your review which as ever are always in depth and cover the important issues. I've still got my Playseat challenge but not being used. Replaced by the GT Omega titan you often referred to. Personally find the PlaySeat too uncomfortable. I've fitted a mini clubman seat £42 from local scrapyard to my titan and is superbly comfortable. Titan wins big time in my opinion and fit a mini clubman seat (perfect width) to fit straight on the titan

    I compared this and the titan. Honestly, I would use this, due to the much easier storabilty AND it has less flex in the pedal base, which DID somewhat show up in the software with a fluctuation of 1-3% depending on the set strenght of the pedals.
    I also found it weirdly more comfortable than the titan.
    I would also argue that size adjustability isn't a problem. It has a lot more upwards leg space and my my 1.83m body was able to drive it at the same setting my 1.60m wife used.
    I sadly was never able to compare it to the ART

I need to be able to pick it up and carry it out my back door into the garage though, it's only about 12-15ft, but is that feasible?

    • @richardhudson1543
      @richardhudson1543 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    • @KarlGosling
      @KarlGosling  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah add some casters and you'll be fine, the addition of more material and a proper seat make it much heavier than this.

    • @aaronegro
      @aaronegro 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I added larger caster rubber wheels to protect the wooden floor from markings and moving the Titan is as easy as pushing a large trolley. The only think I dislike about the omega is the fact it cannot provide much adjustability for the wheel itself. Otherwise, tremendously solid.

    Use it since 2 months in combination with the Asetek Forte Bundle and I'm actually happy with. No feelable flex, looks good, can easy be moved. Had do drill new holes for the base + pedals, but this is ok.
    One MAJOR issue I have tough... The lenght adjustment clamping is too weak. Under heavy breaking, the seat will lengthen itself, which is really annoying. Seems the only solution to this is, to drill a hole and stuck a bolt/screw throgh to fix it.
