I'm finally showing u guys my new nintendo ds lite!! I love it so much :3 this console is my all time favorite console from when I was a kid, the nostalgia!! 😭♡♡♡♡♡

Gosh the amount of nostalgia this gave me. When I was little I used to have the exact same DS and I would spend hours playing Cooking Mama and Animal Crossing. 😭💜✨

it was my birthday, a quiet evening in 2009. my parents asked me to open a gift and inside it was a big white box with my favorite shade of pink, this exact shade. alongside the box was a new copy of Nintendogs. I was told by the manual that the DS had to charge all the way before I could play, so I sat by the wall for what felt like three hours, patiently waiting as I skimmed through all my new manuals, absolutely giddy. this ds even had a slot for all the Game Boy Advance games I was obsessed with at the time. it was the same shade as it too. it was perfect.
finally, it finished charging. curled up on a couch older than I was, I turned it on for the first time. name? redacted, but in all lowercase. birthday? oh yeah, but I tried to see the max date you could put first. color? the sharpest hot pink there was. special message? "me!!!" with as many emojis as possible. especially cell phones, because all the cool kids had those. time? it had to be just right, on the second. I peeked over the top of the sofa, eyeing the stove in the kitchen with a fierce intensity. the moment the time changed, I set the clock. right on the dot. then I was done. I was ready.
I loaded in nintendogs and named my first dog, a shiba inu named butter, in all lowercase of course. I still own the game to this day, I have over 7 hours alone spent with that specific dog, not even counting the others.
I took the DS with me to a store where an associate taught me about a speedy blue hedgehog that fought an evil man to save animals. I put the cartridge in my DS and played on it with my little toy bakugan, pretending she was exercising with Sonic. It was Sonic Advance+Pinball Party. I still have that game to this day.
over 10 years passed. I never changed the DS's time, secret message, or anything. I just played and played and played until the right button got numb from Sonic's running in Advance 3 and the L button got dislodged from me hurriedly healing in Sonic Battle. I continued playing, just pressing harder, trying harder. Sometimes the DS wouldnt charge right. Id reconnect and wait. just like I did as a kid. over the years, the time slowly became inaccurate, from two seconds to 15 minutes. I like to think its because time is never accurate and it naturally shifts out of our control because it was never in our hands to begin with.
then, one day, my friend suggested I got my DS fixed. I was nervous, then he promised he would teach me how to do it. so, I visited him, sat down, and opened up my DS for the first time, undoing each little screw as gently as I could. he said my info would be reset. I already prepared. I took pictures of it all to copy.
inside my DS was someone's writing in pencil. just manufacturing notes, but to think that when I was a child, there was a person all the way in Japan writing little notes on my DS before I got it. it felt magical. I hoped that man was still doing okay. I wished he knew I still kept my DS.
I replaced the rubber padding for my directional pad and cleaned out any signs of grime. with the DS all clean, I attached wires back where they belonged, made sure the touchscreen wouldnt fall out, and put it all back together. the DS turned on, and I reset my settings. then, I popped in one of my favorite GBA games, Sonic Battle. it played just like new.
then, I rode home, thinking about my memories, all of the time I spent here. Im a full grown adult now. this DS isnt stopping, and neither am I. my nintendogs might still be hungry, though.

I still have my childhood ds lite but I reshelled it to pink because it's og black shell was cracking more and more in the speakers area

I had the same ds too before but I got a new one 2 years ago just not in the same color which is okay at least I can play games again

if my old ds hadn't been snapped in half by little brother i would think this was mine. it's the same color and even had my name, sydney, set on it. just a coincidence however as i said my younger brother got mad playing new super mario bros and broke it a few years ago.

I have a red DS Lite which is one of my prized possessions and the hinge has been broken since last year.. I was so upset.. I need a new one so bad, but my mum won’t let me.. 😢
You could try to get a clear case for your ds if it isn't completely non working and that way the case will help the hinge stay together!! Or you could just use the bottom screen for gba games :3

Tips and tricks for the Nintendo ds: If you don’t have a stylist you can use your nail cause the touchscreen thinks it’s the stylist but it’s actually your fingernail like not the chopped off finger nail the nail that’s on your finger.
Tip 2: don’t put stickers on top of the ds cause when left out for too long the shell will be slightly yellow and when you peel it it will be a entirely different colour
