This Episode of the Podcast is with guest speaker David Scott, Managing Director of Skills for Security.
David is our very first speaker in the Fire and Security Industry and we kick off the conversation with questions around his career, successes, and how we got into the industry.
Skills for Security are the largest apprentice provider in the UK for the Fire and Security Industry. Their growth has been phenomenal and David shares the secret to their success, and the vision that has been created. They have recently reached a new milestone for the business of 1,000 on program apprentices which is 5-fold from the 200 5 years ago!
They have a new exciting product launch as well 'Skills on Demand' which is 'netflix' like application for on demand training in the industry for both trainees and experienced engineers for their ongoing development.
We are really impressed by this as it will allow companies to provide training on topics such as cybersecurity, the latest regulations, and we believe this will make a significant impact in supporting with employee engagement and retention.
We discuss events coming up including the MK STEM Innovation exhibition we are doing together on the 25th October to speak with a number of schools about Fire and Security as a career of choice. Skills for Security also host their very own event next year which will be the first careers fair for the Fire and Security industry inviting partners, manufacturers and the industry as a whole!
With the demand for engineers and also the improvement needed in the gender gap we speak about how they are tackling these issues and how the industry as a whole can support with this.
