Stop trying to steal georges concepts, and editing style bro. For real though thanks for let illuminaugti crash out on you. Would have never realized how much she sucked
Man, this episode mentally chucked me back to the old days on the 308. Really gets me excited for the climb because it'll be all the nitty gritty problems, solutions, and rework of those solutions to get it just right. Just this time around with phenomenal cinematography and you being able to truly focus on the craft rather than stop every 20min and think how to set up and move the camera. Seriously, I'm stoked for the next few years!
Mike, as an ex. supercar/racecar factory builder this channel and your work is heaven for me! its like being back in the day…. we had to do everything you do and can totally relate to the enjoyment it gives you…. we had to make/fabricate almost everything…. and continually think on our feet…… I will be on every step of this fantastic journey as I was with your previous projects…. without doubt best channel on TH-cam by far! cheers Tim 👍🍺🇬🇧
I am nowhere near ready to tackle something like this myself. But I am more than ready to sit through a couple years and learn by watching you do it. Bring it!
I've had around 20 "vintage" project cars in the last 5-6 years, as I really enjoy buying, trading and selling them after doing some basic and not so basic work on them. All of that I learned on youtube.
Same here! I'd like to be able to do something like this at some point and time in my life, fingers crossed, but for the time being, I'm happy to live vicariously through Mike. Definitely looking forward to the lessons learned along the way.
This is the best automotive TH-cam channel by far. The quality, the content, the way it’s edited and put together along with mike’s eloquence is unmatched.
15:35 stepping over bundled tubes while hoisting an oversized body panel that you can't afford to replace. Yep, doesn't get more real than that. I freely admit I do not have the patience required to measure a dozen times from eight directions to locate one piece. I do, however, have immense respect and appreciation for those that do. This journey is going to be fantastic and the slow burn is highly informative and actually a great metaphor for the reality of a project. The detail in the video is greatly appreciated, even by us ADHD types.
I love that you know who Bad Obsession Motorsport are and appreciate their humour. There's something cool about the fact that I'm watching this from the UK, admiring a bunch of car guys in California, while those same car guys recognise the work of similar people over here. I haven't owned a TV for years, and honestly, who the fuck needs one with stuff like this to watch... Have an excellent Christmas. Looking forward to seeing this develop in '25.
BAD OBSESSION is awesome. I shit chickens when ever I get a notification for a new episode.. must be 12 years now . I binge watched the 1st 3 episodes lol
Man, the F40 has always seemed like such an unattainable car, and the fact that you're just building your own (much better version) is such an inspiration and motivation to get out in the garage and build something!
That square section is the equivalent of the keel in the building of a ship. The never look like much, either, but every subsequent step is made in reference to it. The day the keel is laid is the day the build officially starts, so you really need to have a little keel-laying ceremony for you and your crew!
You can tell Mike is a project finisher. He sweats every little detail at the beginning of the project because he knows there are going to be some foundational decisions that he regrets later in the build and it's easiest in the long run to work with a foundation that is square and true. Later in the build, when things don't line up perfectly and there is no perfect solution, he'll still make something work and move on to the next thing. It tough to transition mindset from perfection oriented at the beginning to progress oriented at the end, but it's something I appreciate about the StanceWorks approach.
As a fabricator who's had to make "squares" to a tolerance of 1/32", I can watch this all day and appreciate the time that goes in to making it as close to perfect as possible.
It's cool that 1.5" .095 Docal r8 and 4130 both weigh the same. It looks like AED metal makes Docal R8 in oval and streamline (aerofoil-like) shapes that could come in handy in places where clearance might be an issue for a regular tube. These shapes are a bit thinner wall though. Maybe the streamline shape could be used in the a-pillar.
I loved this episode. You nailed the theme, for sure. "Problem solving" and "thinking ahead". That's what separates the fabricators from the hacks. Keep doing what you're doing, with both the build and the content. Great job on both. Happy Holidays!
By FAR, most eXciTiNg carbuild on YT! If this F40 comes out anywhere near as awesome as the 244GT-k build, its gonna break the internet! Would love to see Nigel Mansell drive it once finished! 🚘
I mean, dude, if anyone is expecting 1 hour episode to get a full effin chassis built from scratch for an F40, they're probably on the wrong channel. Good job man, amount of detail and nerdiness level is perfect. Looking forward to this development!
”I want the F40 of tubing” 😂 crystal clear man! Sums it and the whole build up perfectly and makes me warm and fuzzy inside. Rock on. Fab nerds salute you.
I was 8 years old when the F40 was released to the world. Out of all the cars in the 80's, it's by far the best. I can't wait to see this one finished.
Im not even building the car and thinking about all of the details and solutions that will have to be thought through made my brain hurt. Love this content. Real supporters will be here every step of the way.
Man I will watch you talk about your cars for 5hrs straight if you post it. I love how far into the explanations you get. Makes me feel like you're not just knowledgable but yearning to share that knowledge with people who want to get into fabrication or improve their fab skills.
love how you're growing, the quality, the sponsors, the crazyness of the build, the views you're putting up lately seems amazing, keep going you're getting the rewards you deserve, keep up
as somone who tred to do a project that wasnt popualr so i could be diiffrent. i thank you for showing the little details. everyone nowadays shows the easy stuff, and it makes it seem like these insane projects are not hard or expensive , THANK YOU for being real
I know this is not at all what stancework is about but i'm 10 mins in and I'm loving this, the added staff really allows you to swim in your element and this is already an incredible episode. Just wanted to show appreciation to you and the whole crew.
This is fantastic, your knowledge / enthusiasm is inspiring. And that CAD plan will take matters to another level, big thanks to the provider! PS. Good to see you on the Dahm livestreams 🙂
This is amazing craftsmanship! I can't get enough of this. Being a CAD drafter and machinist, I can appreciate this level of fabrication. Kudos man, you guys are the real deal in automotive engineering car videos. This will never get boring to me and can't wait to watch all your videos on this car. The F40 is my absolute dream car. And being a ex racer, I appreciate this type of build with the tubing. Best of both worlds. And that engine, OMG this will be my favorite car on You Tube. Thank you for making this!!!
i was not a fan of you originally, i was just intrigued. but the more i watch the more i realize my error - you good sir are a G.. and i have no doubts that this is gonna be the coolest F40 ever. you are gonna kill it and im so excited to spend time watching. good luck and thanks for doing it
Mike, I'm so stoked for you guys!!! This is going to be the project of projects and I love the direction you're going. I Agree, this episode took me back to the early days of the 308 build. Great to see you back in your element and engineering a stunning car. Looking forward to the rest of the build.
Really enjoyed watching this, i had a rough idea of how chassis were made but great to see how its actually done. Looking forward to the rest of the videos.
Mike you are a story teller. I love you slowing down and talking about the details. You make it interesting, unlike many others that just drone you with the details. I look forward to watching every episode for the next 2 years. Keep up the awesome work!
This is going to be the best build the internet has seen. I'm in no position to make suggestions. If it were my build, I would leave fuel system stock til car is complete, test and tune suspension til car is done. Then I would swap the fuel system to what you want. But I'm not as mechanically qualified as you, nor do I have the coolest 308 ferrari ever built. You got this. Thanks for building the f40 we all thought ferrari should have built
This is just flat out fun to watch you literally hand building your own F40. Sure it's going to be cool when it's finished but the process is a blast to watch. Thank you for tackling a crazy project for us to watch!
Your enthusiasm and attention to detail reminds me alot of Rob Dahm and you can just tell this build is gonna be in an absolute league of its own and I can't wait for more nerdy car stuff
I made a video last night talking about how car culture sucks now. But had to mention that there are still some great things about car culture, and mentioned you in it. Basically remembering back before Rusty Slammington looking at pics of your builds to now, and how we've been able to watch the evolution of people. This is a prime example. You went from lowering old BMW's and slapping some BBS's on them, to I'm going to make my own F40. That's some serious evolution and progress!
Absolutely loved the detail you went to in the GTK build.. In my opinion one video for a square gets me very excited about the next year of fabrication content! Keep up the great work Mike 👏🏻

I appreciate you talking about your fabrication process. It's an inspiration to step up my game. At Ferrari F40 level, everything you do needs to be perfect. But for us mere mortals, my fabrications don't have to be perfect...it just has to be the best I've ever done so far.
Your work ethic in my opinion is perfect and I really enjoy watching the process. To rush the job would be a big mistake. Well done and I look forward to the next episode.

That CAD program is sick. Definitely, I can see it being a big help for all the mounting points.❤ love the progress so far and can’t wait to everything come together.
I know you aren't using it as a guide for this build, but I guarantee that CAD model of the original F40 will be worth its weight in Bitcoin by the end of this project. Also, stop apologizing to all the randos who may or may not be critiquing your methodology for building this thing because his is the only one like it, and I certainly don't see an F40 project build in their shop. I'm really excited to see this thing unfold and I really appreciate you letting us make the journey with you on this one!
It's because of how you operate your channel, it why I think it's so successful !! Yes- tell me the differences between bolt A and nut B , tell me why you chose that material over this... I love the slow, boring explanations and if you said this is a 10yr project, I'll be looking forward to the next episode and could care less how long it's projected to take !! You're building a Ferrari that won't be using any shims......won't be a Ferrari without shims! HAHAHAHAHAH!!! I owned a Testarossa, she had shims EVERYWHERE! In my opinion, the early Ferraris were very primitive....tons of aluminum though......subed and can't wait for updates
In my opinion the entire StanceWorks concept began as more fluff than substance. This project is entirely different: a serious undertaking. Huge respect for taking on this challenge.
Many Bothans died to bring us this CAD model of an original F40.
😂 star wars and legal eagle. Nice! 😂
Who would imagine legal eagle watching this type of content!
Wait...what!! Legal Eagle in the house?? Who would have thought.
Stop trying to steal georges concepts, and editing style bro. For real though thanks for let illuminaugti crash out on you. Would have never realized how much she sucked
the most legal CAD model of the most legal F40
To the guy that supplied original F40 file, you are da real MVP.
No one supplied it, he ripped it out of Grand Turismo.
@ I meant chassis file, not the exterior one that Mike discussed in last episode
Yes, He is the real Mazda !
;)
Indeed holy sh!t that is such a win. Probably unobtanium

Ferrari craftsmanship in the '80s really left a lot to be desired, didn't it?
Not really, they were true artisans in that strip of italy. It's just the old mannot paying very well and a lot of red wine around always.
It hasn't improved much, at least for the bits you usually don't see
