    Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the #travel bug! We started “travel hacking” & finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this #travelvlog to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling! After achieving our new goal of 100 countries before 2020 and all 7 continents, we have no plans to slow down anytime soon, and we are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)

    Lots of people are asking why no new video today... Kara posted a quick Insta story saying how busy she has been following on as support for Nate and the other guys on their 500 mile bike challenge... she apologized and said she will get one posted tomorrow (Monday). I, too, was worried Nate maybe had bitten off more than he could chew this time!

    Hey, Kara and Nate.
    Is this Omaze thing real? I would love to enter into the contest but I don't want to get scammed out of my money. I know that the money is going to restore a rock climbing areas and as a rock climber myself that is very important to me. I would love to win this contest cause I myself have plans to buy and convert a sprinter van and this would save me so much money. If there is any way to let me know if this real let me know.

    • @dailygemma
      @dailygemma 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't think they would promote something like this if it was a scam, they have too much of a reputation to take a risk. I would google Omaze and you may find a forum or people's expériences about the company

    • @therampi90
      @therampi90 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is legit. Don't worry!

    • @antonburdin9756
      @antonburdin9756 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Transparency standards of Omaze are unacceptably low for company working with charity organizations. I was not able to find any financial reports or details about past sweepstakes.
      I would like to know how much they had raised and transferred to each charity after each contest. What is their profit in comparison to money transferred to actual charity? The only number we have is: “… Omaze has given over $100 million to charity!” Since the company is running for more than 6 years, it was 16.7 million per year in average. I am wondering where exactly all this money goes. And I am even more concerned since I have found “Over $100 million raised to support charity” on the other page. “Why is that so important and what is the difference between “raised” and “given”?” - you would probably ask. Let us read their official statement:
      “When you contribute $10 for the chance to win a celebrity experience (set visit, dinner date, tickets to a premiere, etc.), $6 is donated to charity, $2.50 on average goes towards marketing expenses and credit card fees, and Omaze nets the remaining $1.50. A $10 contribution for the chance to win a prize-based experience (like a car, vacation or tuition) breaks down as follows: $1.50 is donated to charity; $7 typically goes to sourcing and shipping the prize, covering the winner’s taxes, marketing the experience, and processing credit card fees; and $1.50 goes to Omaze. These experiences require substantially more resources to secure the prize and help spread the word.”
      So, only 15% - 60% goes to actual charity. When you are in a not-for-profit sector nobody expects you to make money. Generally, we want charity to take money we made and deliver promise with as little overheads as possible. Unfortunately, this is not a strategy to get the best impact for your money. Omaze is bragging that their for-profit model enables them to expand marketing services “far beyond what’s usually done in the nonprofit space”, and therefore increase the total dollars raised for partners. Unfortunately, I have no data to prove whether it is true or not. As a financial professional I would agree with some of Dan Pallottas’s ideas. Yes, it is important to invest in your growth, but such growth should be measurable. I can not disagree that 90% of $100 000 is less than 60% of $500 000 ($90 000 vs $300 000), but 90% of $100 000 is more than 15% of $500 000 ($90 000 vs $75 000). At the same time overheads for non-profits becomes revenues if you are private for-profit organization. When you are getting fixed portion of the pie (15%) the bigger the pie - the better for you, but when you really trying to maximize benefits for charity partners it is not that easy. Due to decreasing nature of return, at some point, company would have to cut marketing spendings since they are not bringing positive return any more. It is clear conflict of interests for Omaze, and I would like to know how they are handling it.
      And there is a final question for the company - what sort of business is that?
      We can assume that this is some sort of marketing platform for charities, then why does it charge 60% of marketing budget ($1.50/$2.50) - that is insane. So, I would believe that Omaze is in lottery style business and using legal loopholes to run it. It looks like they need charities to make it more legit.

    To all the people that say they use a drone to get their shots instead of walking ahead and setting up a tripod, I can assure you being the owner of a drone it would be near impossible to keep it that still in those strong winds.
    You can also clearly see (13:25) in some of the shots that they use a tripod.

    Hi guys, love the channel. Those are coyote tracks, and they naturally get laid down in couplets. Coyotes are usually very shy, and this one was probably shocked once she realized you were out there. Big cat tracks are about 400% larger, laid down evenly, not paired, and are in nearly a straight line. actually, if a person looks down a line of lion tracks they will make very slight lazy "s's", often with a tail dip alternating with the stride. If you're nearRockies

    Just a heads up camping gear is hard to find this year because of increased demand. Many people are out camping when they normally would go away on vacation instead. They’re pretty much viewing camping as a staycation and so people that don’t normally camp are camping this year and it all sold out very quickly. If you plan on doing any kind of camping in the future I would definitely keep your eyes peeled every time you’re in a Walmart or maybe order some and have it shipped somewhere for you to pick up. It’s gonna be hard to find in passing though.

      Gunnison is beautiful!!. I went to first grade there at Blackstock elementary, idk if it’s still there, that was back in 1967/68 . I remember being fascinated by the big W on the hillside , my Dad taught at western state U for a year. I think the U has a different name now.
      I’ve been back a few times, lots of cool ghost towns nearby. Such a gorgeous place but cold in the winter !!

      @allysonporter1492 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      1927su that’s awesome!! Yeah that elementary isn’t here anymore. The big W is still here though!! I’m originally from the Denver area and moved up here in 2010 for college and after graduating I didn’t want to move back to the city like most of my friends did so I stayed! Can’t imagine living anywhere else!! When I came here for college it was called Western State College then by the time I graduated it changed to Western State Colorado University and now I think it’s Western State University or something like that haha they keep changing it...some alum donated a massive amount of money to change the name again and build another building to add an engineering department/program to the school, which is cool they have that! But a bit crazy to me to keep changing the name! It sure does get cold here but I absolutely love the cold!! I can’t do the heat very well!
