If I may suggest, for the future, a quick search in google on such trivial subjects would do you quite good; An argument is forceful and confrontational, as in arguement for arguement's sake. A debate is more structured and designed to reach a concluaion. If there were no differences between the two then there was nonreason to have two separate words for the same thing, right?
