Goes deeper then that. There was no Palestinian people before the 60's. That's when the PLO coined the term. Before that, they were just Arabs not living in any of the other Arab countries. Arabs who would have been given the VAST MAJORITY of what is today Israel and the West Bank back before 1948 as their homeland. Israel was going to be a tiny speck of land, about maybe 1 to 5% of the land that makes up modern day Israel, West Bank, and Jordan today.
To the Arabs, that tiny speck of land was too much for them. Five different tribes or nations or whatever of Arabs launched an attack on the Israeli's, and lost in 1949. And so Israel gained the land they had before the Six Day War.
Six Day War, Israel expands in size, and THAT'S when the Palestinians come into existence.
Before that, there was no Palestine. There was the Mandate of Palestine, but that was a name the British called part of the territory they took from the Ottomans after WW1, and never existed before the 20's. The Byzantines and Saracens and Europeans called the area Palestine, but they did so not because they believed it belonged to any Palestinian people, but because that was the name the ROMANs gave the territory.
So where did the Romans get it from? Emperor Hadrian, in I think 132 AD, renamed the occupied Holy Land into Syria Palestinia (I think that's how its spelled) in order to break the spirit of the occupied and rebelling Jews. He took it from the Greek name for a group of Greek or Hellenic people who migrated, from Crete, to south of Gaza via Egypt in the 12th century BC: the Philistines. The people we get David and Goliath from. The people who did, shortly after settling in the area, attacked the Israelites living north of them, and losing to them in the 10th century BC.
The Arabs who we get our modern day Palestinians from wouldn't arrive in the area until the 7th century AD, about FIFTEEN TO SIXTEEN HUNDRED YEARS after the Philistines.
So no...there is no land of Palestinians. There is no Kingdom of Palestine, no Republic, no Empire, no anything. There were just a bunch of Arab people who sat around and did nothing until Israel gained more land, and then started acting like they were some great nation that was being occupied by people living on land they won fair and square from the defensive wars they have had to fight for a right to exist. The only people to blame for the so called 'occupation' and 'colonization' of the Middle East by Jews are the Arabs for not sitting down, shutting up, and accepting a tiny smidge of land on the northern part of modern day Israel being Jewish.
Israel's actions are not evil. Why people can't see that Israel is protecting and trying to preserve its very existence is beyond me.

Where it applies is if they are "ignoring" the truth, fundamentally twisting it in adherence to doctrine (seriously, read the indicated passage), or believe the "truth" of others over actual research.
It is somewhat dependent on how you deconstruct the question that was asked and how the individual came to that wording. Also relevant is that this is a "debate format" (as opposed to "lecture" or "Q&A" format) where one of the goals is to discredit the speech of the opponent or to score "points" by making the other side unable to support their position. Ultimately, the question was asked in such a way as to illuminate the Islamic faction, Hamas, as the "poor oppressed freedom fighters" as compared to Israel's supposed heavy-handed, goose stepping, even "genocidal," actions in rooting out said faction of militants.
There are thousands like this young man that just do not understand what is going on. They live in a simplistic world.

I believe it was John Spencer who said that Israel is doing the impossible. They are protecting the Gaza civilians better than in any other urban war in history. The number of civilians killed is by an order of magnitude lower than what one would expect. John Spencer is considered the world's leading expert on urban warfare. He literally wrote the book on it.
The overwhelming obsession to critique everything about Jews and Israel's right to sovereignty security and life is nauseating and exhausting to the extreme.

The answer is as many as it takes simply because that is their government and that's who they elected and if they don't like it then they can step up to help get rid of them instead of aiding and abetting them.
The Cambridge Union debate with Shapiro was far more civil and intelligent on the part of those students who engaged with Ben Shapiro, compared to the Oxford Union debate which was an absolute disgrace.

I am surprised you have not covered the interview the the now freed Israeli peace activist who had their ideals changed due to the ordeal she went through.
The US, England and their allies didn’t let the fact that would have to kill civilians deter them in WWII. England bombed the hell out of Germany knowing it would be killing civilians. And how many civilians were killed when the US bombed Japan.
It’s unreasonable to believe a country can defend itself against an enemy in war without civilian deaths.

If I were a family member of one of these kids it would be of great concern. Those Palestinians, in Gaza, could have left there at any time, but they choose not to because they support Hamas. They should at least bear responsibility for voting for and being part of Hamas, a terrorist organization.

Hamas learned that from Arafat and the PLO. They did that in the 70s. Hiding and shooting their arms in with civilians. Of course Israel was condemned then too. It's a strategy that has worked well for the terrorist groups against Israel.
People want the impossible but not by them... Israel have to, somahow.
Just to put Gaza in scale. Deaths in Gaza per day (Hamas + civilians): 148/day. Deaths in Okinawa during WWII (Japanese military + civilians) : 1,750-2,360 / day. And you are entirely correct. War is terrible, but it isn't AT ALL genocide. War ends when one side says "we give up".
Ben needs to continue to speak out against Hamas and its leaders for their own actions regarding the use of Palestinians as shields!
The only people who can defend Hamas....are either:
A.) Hamas.
B.) People who don't know what Hamas is.

You mentioned child level morality. That it is. We need to wrap our heads around the fact that there is no morality,integrity,honesty in most of our societies. To live bravely is to maintain your beliefs,morals,honour and integrity. This has happened each generation. 25 years ago I bought into this sort of thing. It has been only with age and what little wisdom I have gained that the scales have fallen from my eyes.

One of the causes of this problem is the unwillingness of the arab people in gaza to stand up against hamas in the first place and the west and the rest of the worlds turning a blind eye and even complicitness with hamas and supporters of terrorist groups so the rest of the world holds some responsibility to this terrible situation.
