yes very true and moreover the TANDOOR thing is very rustic so one needs to be more mundane by using mud/clay and straw like you said to make it look more authentic...but the video is really good and gives an idea for DIY concept

put the meat inside the tandoor when all the wood has turned into coal and there are no flames. If there are flames it'll burn your meat quickly.

That is insulating material. To prevent cracking on brick wall when cement is drying and moving a bit. Propably not necessary though.

Tandoor is made of cob, not cement. Cement cannot retain the heat like cob.

You guys used cement. which is a big NO. Tandoor is supposed to be made out of clay, cement could crack and worst of all, it is harmful. Bad idea!
