I spent the first twenty years of my life living in a rough council estate. I think John Bercow would have learned a lesson if he had shared my upbringing. There is no way he would have turned out a pompous bully. I'm glad he has been found out but it has been a long time coming.
I'm only giving a personal opinion here, but for me, one of the greatest Speakers in living memory was good old Betty Boothroyd! I thought she was awesome!
All the speakers I've witnessed in my long life have provided Dignity, fairness and Statesman like qualities to this high office. Bercow lacked all of those qualities. Thank God the present speaker has restored the high qualities of office . Bercow's future: ...Errand 'boy ' in Brussels. Hope we never hear from him again . If Labour had any decency (I doubt it) he would be gone for good..!
Not really sure how Bercow can be of service to the EU, given that UK is not a member and certainly Bercow is no voice of influence in respect of advancing the rejoiner cause. But if it were to mean he would disappear from our collective radar, that would suit me!
I remember Jess Phillips making a stout speech in his defence regarding his alleged bullying - possibly because he was trying to overturn Brexit which suited Phillips or maybe she just thought he was a nice bloke.
How desperately cruel against John. Julia should be ashamed of herself ! John would be a very welcome addition to my miniature pond in the garden with a pointy green hat, grey beard and fishing rod.
A former boss of mine had ‘Napoleon’ syndrome. Very angry man and a bully by inflicting mental torture on people. I had it out with him with a week of joining as I couldn’t tolerate his behaviour and now way could I have worked for him for months or years. He was fine with me after our chat. Typical bully, backs down when confronted.
I worked for 3 years for a guy who looked just like John Bercow, even the stature! How I stuck it for that long I’ll never know but he was a real bully too. He was Chief Exec of the company and some of the Directors used to give me messages to give him because they avoided him like the plague! Horrible little man.
Good riddance to the poison dwarf. It defies belief that this oik was actually considered to have the character and gentlemanly diplomacy required to fill such an historic and honourable position as Speaker following such august figures as George Thomas and Bernard Wetherill. There seems to be a surfeit of short male bullies throwing their weight around at the moment!
