My wife and I went to see the very first Iron Man the day it came out. She loved the comics, was a huge Marvel fan, and had been since her childhood. She was also a huge RDJ fan, and having the two come together was what made the MCU for her. She never missed a single film. Not one. Not until Infinity War, and the ones that came after it. She passed away from cancer without ever getting to see how it all ended. Now I can't watch this without crying. Every time. I just sob at it. She would have loved it so much. She would have wept for Tony. He was her Iron Man. Some things in life can't be replaced.

Tony was my personal hero. Trying with his bare hands to hold the world together and getting blamed every step of the way. Determined above all else to protect everyone. He was the first hero I ever saw on screen have an anxiety attack and my only thought was "Oh God, he's just like me." And I burst into tears. He didn't deserve what the Russos did to him in Endgame. Not him. He gave and gave and gave and lost nearly everything in the process. He gave it all up for a world that didn't want him. And I love him for that.
I couldn't agree more, there's a hole in my heart and I'll never accept that he died, even though Robert says he's done with playing iron man and that probably was his call to leave MCU, I'll always believe that he's coming back bc it was the most epic character of Robert's life, and it hurts so deeply to see Tony's pain along the movies, and think that after all that he went throught, "life" was unfare and he died just when he had everything he dreamed, his daughter, Peper, and that he didn't hesitate to give his life even when he had so much to lose, even knowing that HE would be the only one losing. I didn't like the "My greatest creation is you" line. Or rather, I thought it was a good line but it's part of why I hated Howard. He was never close with Tony, never there for his son. Instead of telling his son "I'm proud of you" when Tony did things like build an engine at 6 he told a newspaper about it for the publicity. He says he was building the future for Tony but never shows an interest in Tony as a person. It seems to me like he's more interested in Tony as his legacy than as his child. Saying Tony is his "greatest creation", in my opinion, just proves that point.
Coen A Howard was never a good father, we don’t know his past or how he was raised, and that just says his father never never taught him how to be a father, and Tony had to figure it out himself, he made his legacy, Howard tried his best, you may not think that’s enough, heck it might not be enough for anybody, but all we need to know is that he tried, and I believe he is the best there is.

He spent 21 years watching Tony grow from a boy into a man, watching Tony struggle and succeed, watching him learn, watching him set goals and reach them, and at no point did he give the impression that he liked Tony. At no point did he look his child in the eye and say "I love you and I'm proud of you". Not even when Tony graduated summa cum laude from MIT at 17 did he give his son the most basic form of validation. We do know Howard didn't have a great relationship with his own father. While we don't know much about it he says in Endgame "There was no problem my dad couldn't solve with a belt" indicating physical abuse. That said, having a bad parent may be an explanation for being one, but it isn't an excuse. Tony's line about his father "He was cold, he was calculating. He never told me he loved me, he never even told me he loved me" says more to me than any of Howard's lines.
The moment tony saved the whole universe, he proved he was the greatest hero to ever live in the MCU. Sure, he has done a lot of bad in the past but in the end he redeemed himself and proved that he was selfless and a great man. He became Iron Man to rewrite his wrongs and help people despite his PTSD, he still never gave up, no matter the obstacles from being Iron Man. A lot of words can describe Tony Stark before he went into that cave back in 2008- genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist, etc. Now the only word worthy enough to describe him is Hero.

Tony's end will be hailed for years to come as one of the best. The setting, color, lighting, and timing are flawless. Instead of drawing the scene out, the scene is focused. All the most important people in Tony's life were able to say goodbye in concise, simple mannerisms that tied the series together. The diction, facial reactions, emotional responses and choice of timing all add longevity. The respect paid to the character and fans will be appreciated for generations to come.
When you think about it, he's a simple human and he was the only one who made Thanos bleed (except Thor with stormbreaker) and the only one who Thanos really saw as a threat.
Thanos only killed the ones he thought were a threat to him. Tony and Strange were the ones Thanos was going to kill (he probably would have killed Strange in IW to get the stone if Tony didn't show up) . Tony kept going even when there was almost nothing left of his suit.

I love how in the first Avengers Steve says Tony isn’t the kind to make a sacrifice play, but we know thats ALL he ever did. He sacrificed his everything: his future, his happiness, his life, getting to see his daughter grow up not to mention seeing his first child figure grow into a strong and courageous man. Even if they bring back Tony through the multiverse, it will NEVER be the same Tony we know and loved
I was 7 when the first Iron Man came out. Phase 1 was elementary school, Phase Two was middle school into freshman year, Phase Three was high school, Infinity War was ending junior year into a very unpredictable/unforeseen senior year, Endgame was graduation, and finally Far From Home was the last summer vacation before everyone went off to college or work. This MCU raised me like my family did, and this epic story with so many characters has turned out to be a lifetime for some kids, including me. Thank you to everyone behind the MCU; I grew up with you, and I cannot wait to live life knowing that you will always be there. #LoveYou3000
I started watching the MCU when I was 7 too. When the first avengers (2012) came out. Then I caught up on iron Man 1 and 2. Since then and have watched nearly every marvel movie(cough The Incredible Hulk and Thor 2 cough). These 7 years for me were the best.

My husband died of cancer in 2008. He would have loved Iron Man. He was like Iron Man building that suit in the cave. He could do anything but beat cancer. You want something done, you called him. I’m 83 and still live in our two story home he built in 1970. Had 10 kids, his 4, my 5 and our 1. He was a race driver too. His dad started a race club in LA to keep kids out of trouble. One more season my husband would have raced for 50 years. He built race engines and cars. He is on the Internet. RIP #98k.

Tony has been treated horribly by his own friends like in Iron Man 2 tony was about to die cause his arc reactor wasn't working and Rhodes stopped the party Tony threw and even stole one of his suits. so yeah he been treated badly by his friend's co-workers and more and then he sacrifices himself for the universe.
Never forget that, once he matched velocities with the missle in Avengers, he had 2 full minutes where he could have disengaged from it, flown away to safety for himself. Or just releaseed it throught the wormhole and turned around while still under power. He stuck to what he did to the last second necessary to do what needed to be done. That's legend.

Tony was my personal hero. Trying with his bare hands to hold the world together and getting blamed every step of the way. Determined above all else to protect everyone. He was the first hero I ever saw on screen have an anxiety attack and my only thought was "Oh God, he's just like me." And I burst into tears. He didn't deserve what the Russos did to him in Endgame. Not him. He gave and gave and gave and lost nearly everything in the process. He gave it all up for a world that didn't want him. And I love him for that.
I couldn't agree more, there's a hole in my heart and I'll never accept that he died, even though Robert says he's done with playing iron man and that probably was his call to leave MCU, I'll always believe that he's coming back bc it was the most epic character of Robert's life, and it hurts so deeply to see Tony's pain along the movies, and think that after all that he went throught, "life" was unfare and he died just when he had everything he dreamed, his daughter, Peper, and that he didn't hesitate to give his life even when he had so much to lose, even knowing that HE would be the only one losing. I know that he's just a character but I swear, I'm incomplete since that death

I didn't like the "My greatest creation is you" line. Or rather, I thought it was a good line but it's part of why I hated Howard.
He was never close with Tony, never there for his son. Instead of telling his son "I'm proud of you" when Tony did things like build an engine at 6 he told a newspaper about it for the publicity. He says he was building the future for Tony but never shows an interest in Tony as a person. It seems to me like he's more interested in Tony as his legacy than as his child. Saying Tony is his "greatest creation", in my opinion, just proves that point.
Coen A Howard was never a good father, we don’t know his past or how he was raised, and that just says his father never never taught him how to be a father, and Tony had to figure it out himself, he made his legacy, Howard tried his best, you may not think that’s enough, heck it might not be enough for anybody, but all we need to know is that he tried, and I believe he is the best there is.

He spent 21 years watching Tony grow from a boy into a man, watching Tony struggle and succeed, watching him learn, watching him set goals and reach them, and at no point did he give the impression that he liked Tony. At no point did he look his child in the eye and say "I love you and I'm proud of you". Not even when Tony graduated summa cum laude from MIT at 17 did he give his son the most basic form of validation.
We do know Howard didn't have a great relationship with his own father. While we don't know much about it he says in Endgame "There was no problem my dad couldn't solve with a belt" indicating physical abuse. That said, having a bad parent may be an explanation for being one, but it isn't an excuse. Tony's line about his father "He was cold, he was calculating. He never told me he loved me, he never even told me he loved me" says more to me than any of Howard's lines.

Sure, he has done a lot of bad in the past but in the end he redeemed himself and proved that he was selfless and a great man. When you think about it, he's a simple human and he was the only one who made Thanos bleed (except Thor with stormbreaker) and the only one who Thanos really saw as a threat.

It's the deepest kind of story. Tony is Tammuz, he's Osiris, he's Adonis, he's Jesus, he's the Fisher King and Arthur; his story is an archetype branded into half the world's religions--his arc fits every god-man who dies to renew the world.
Iron Man is powerful because he fits the old legends, and the legends are so deep because they tell us what, ultimately, men have always aspired to be: the one who puts his family (not the individual members but the whole of it) before his own wants, the one who raises good children and shows the next generation what a man ought to be, and the one who is ready to step up and sacrifice their lives to protect others when they're in direst need.
What makes it so much deeper is that he's such a modern take on this myth. Those myths lose their power over time. Here it's renewed for this century--his growth from a selfish, egotistical, playboy into a mature man, a father, and a leader upon whom everybody else can rely--and not just once, but many times for each of these. He's a father-figure for Peter the fatherless. He shows him what a hero is, and how to be a good man, too. He's a protector for his daughter, ready to face the worst evil in the universe for her. He protects his wife, too, even as they are partners and equals.
Joseph Campbell's Hero with a Thousand Faces now has a Thousand and One.
That's why it's so powerful in my opinion...they took the bones of myth and fleshed it out brilliantly over a decade, so his change feels slow and realistic, full of setbacks and doubt underneath his facade, who shows how empty mere materialism is, who shows that you overcome fear and weakness neither by hiding it or indulging it but by facing whatever makes you afraid, who shows that total, unironic commitment is required...but also by facing Loki and Ultron and Thanos, he showed how powerful the human spirit is against adversity, even godlike adversity.

I love how in the first Avengers Steve says Tony isn’t the kind to make a sacrifice play, but we know thats ALL he ever did. He sacrificed his everything: his future, his happiness, his life, getting to see his daughter grow up not to mention seeing his first child figure grow into a strong and courageous man. Even if they bring back Tony through the multiverse, it will NEVER be the same Tony we know and loved
I was 7 when the first Iron Man came out. Phase 1 was elementary school, Phase Two was middle school into freshman year, Phase Three was high school, Infinity War was ending junior year into a very unpredictable/unforeseen senior year, Endgame was graduation, and finally Far From Home was the last summer vacation before everyone went off to college or work. This MCU raised me like my family did, and this epic story with so many characters has turned out to be a lifetime for some kids, including me. Thank you to everyone behind the MCU; I grew up with you, and I cannot wait to live life knowing that you will always be there. #LoveYou3000

I started watching the MCU when I was 7 too. When the first avengers (2012) came out. Then I caught up on iron Man 1 and 2. Since then and have watched nearly every marvel movie(cough The Incredible Hulk and Thor 2 cough). These 7 years for me were the best.

My husband died of cancer in 2008. He would have loved Iron Man. He was like Iron Man building that suit in the cave. He could do anything but beat cancer. You want something done, you called him. I’m 83 and still live in our two story home he built in 1970. Had 10 kids, his 4, my 5 and our 1. He was a race driver too. His dad started a race club in LA to keep kids out of trouble. One more season my husband would have raced for 50 years. He built race engines and cars. He is on the Internet. RIP #98k.

Tony has been treated horribly by his own friends like in Iron Man 2 tony was about to die cause his arc reactor wasn't working and Rhodes stopped the party Tony threw and even stole one of his suits.
so yeah he been treated badly by his friend's co-workers and more and then he sacrifices himself for the universe.
Never forget that, once he matched velocities with the missle in Avengers, he had 2 full minutes where he could have disengaged from it, flown away to safety for himself. Or just releaseed it throught the wormhole and turned around while still under power. He stuck to what he did to the last second necessary to do what needed to be done. That's legend.

The ending of endgame was the only time EVER that i cried during a movie. tony stark will forever be one of the greatest heroes ever. and to think that many thought of him as a selfish person at the beginning of his story just goes to show how incredible his character development was. rest easy tony we love you 3000
