There is nobody who knows the history of Jack the Ripper or Victorian London East End than Richard Jones. Great episode.

Excellent discussion. The perp was highly likely to have been local and if local probably from the lower classes.

Surprised there was no mention of Charles Lechmeare - a very prominent and recent suspect.

My family tree comes out of the part of the East London. One issue not mentioned by Richard is the anti Semitic angle. It is commonly believed that Scwarze saw a person talking to one of the victims. It is believed that he was unwilling to identify the person, who was a Jew and known to the witness. I believe that the authorities were concerned about anti Semitic sentiments in London. The Russian Czar had purged many Jews from his country. Certainly, my maternal grandmother (born 1897) who lived there, as did her parents believed that the police sent the culprit to a mental asylum, and he was Jewish. That's when the killings stopped. I am also suspicious as Richard mentioned, that there appears to have been confusion about the identity of Kusminski. My Grandmother passed in 1983. I am 74 years old. Don't discount the political/social context, it may explain a lot. Greetings to you both for an excellent discussion. Huge respect to you both for your work. Best wishes to Richard and thanks to all concerned.

Witnesses saw Mary Kelly the morning after her murder.
It wasn't Mary Kelly the witnesses saw. It was Mary Pearcey. Mary Pearcey was responsible for at least the last murder in the series

Very good show. Richard Jones is always great to listen to. I'm surprised he didn't even mention Charles Lechmere though, seeing as he's made three episodes on him on his own You Tube channel and he's the strongest suspect proposed so far. The only suspect in fact who was actually seen by someone else lingering alone and acting suspiciously right next to the body of one of the victims at or near the time of death and with nobody else in sight or sound. He's unique in that.
Kosminski is a non starter. The police were clueless about serial killers and favoured a foreign nutjob. Such a person was unlikely to have been JTR. Far more likely he was an outwardly normal and respectable local man like Lechmere.
    Cheers.

He was not the only suspect seen with the victim. Mary Ann Cox seen a man enter Mary Jane Kelly room and has a very good description. Inspector Walter dew thought for sure this to be the killer

Everything is circumstantial with Lechmere. The man wasn't even seriously considered by the police at the time. It's just recently that the circumstantial evidence have gained some traction. The news at the time were horribly unreliable. If you want to look at mystery try to figure out why Mary Kelly was seen by different people the morning after her murder. Why Eddowes claimed she knew who the murderer was and she laughed about it.

The horrific murders suddenly stopped, and the police investigation too. Makes me wonder if they caught him? did they catch him?. Perhaps because of public tension and probable upheaval, the police were reluctant to name him, as they feared riots?. Or if they did catch him, May have been, someone important, a politician, or maybe a senior police officer, or a Royal dignity?. It may have been a Doctor, Doctor Who?.

Almost nothing is dumber than the idea that the person who finds and reports the body of a murder victim is likely the murderer. Plus the fact that the Ripper killings abruptly stopped in 1888 while Lechmere lived until 1920.

Nah the man was not even seriously looked into by the police at the time. And the police at the time weren't very much concerned with suspects privacy and rights.
Lechmere is an easy suspect because everything is circumstantial. Zero evidence
