    I like how the guy gets kind of emotive in the beginning when you mention "the journey". He says "they're luxury items but I can't live without them". I think home theater is a special hobby because it is extremely rare to hear *really* good sound and be somewhere totally quiet so you can be taken somewhere else. It's not just about wanting more SPL or a wider sound stage or whatever. It's about being transported.

    I transitioned from a 10-inch Infinity subwoofer and a 12-inch Dayton audio $150 sub to dual 18-inch DIY subs in a Full Marty enclosure. Surprisingly, I spent less on the enclosures and two 18-inch subwoofers with a Crown 2502 amp than on the Infinity and Dayton combined. The value of DIY is unbeatable. Its quality was confirmed when, during a viewing of 'Into the Storm,' my neighbor messaged my wife on Facebook, requesting we lower the volume because it sounded like a tornado was tearing through her house.

    Labeled chapter breaks would be huge here. I used Gemini AI to summarize:
    The video talks about 3 upgrades that Casey made to his home theater: MadVR, Collide Escape, and dual 18 inch subwoofers.
    - MadVR is a video processor that improves the quality of the video image. Casey says that it provides better color and detail than his previous video processor.
    - Collide Escape is a media server that allows Casey to download and store his movies. Casey says that it is much faster than ripping movies and that it makes it easy for his kids to watch movies without having to know how to use all of the different buttons on his home theater system.
    - Dual 18 inch subwoofers are speakers that provide low-frequency sound effects. Casey says that they add a lot of immersion to his home theater experience and that they make him feel like he is in the middle of the action in the movies that he is watching.

    • @Youthman
      @Youthman  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's unfortunate that our attention span is so short that we cannot sit down and enjoy a 30 minute video. I could have shared the 3 points in a community post, rather than a dedicated video. But a post and an AI summary lacks one key ingredient. Human interaction and emotion.

    • @astrostl
      @astrostl 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Youthman I find that a preachy, presumptuous, and self-interested response. I just directly enjoyed my home theater with family by continuing our rewatch of House of the Dragon as the second season arrives. Do you think it *unfortunate* that I didn't watch more of your videos on TH-cam instead?
      The entirety of life is competing for those 30 minutes, and selecting one thing over the other isn't necessarily indicative of a short attention span as it may well have required more attention and/or a longer period of time. By knowing what the contents of a video are rather than hiding it behind a headline, people are better-able to determine if it's worth the investment for them according to their interests. If it is, they'll still watch.

      @@Youthman I ran into you via @stopthefomo and I've been intrigued by his size-driven immersion angles that were apparently inspired by you. That's how I landed over here and subscribed and found this video, so I'm definitely curious about your direct perspectives. I was leaning toward a large G4 or Bravia 9 but the 98" QM851 is now suddenly a contender.
      His multi-topic videos use labeled chapter breaks and I still watch many of them. I think it's maximally respectful of viewer's time, puts confidence in the quality of subjects, and that AI will end up eliminating any perceived "but maybe they'll watch the whole thing anyway just to find out" advantage.

      His multi-subject videos have labeled chapter breaks. I think that's maximally respectful of the viewer, shows confidence in the quality of the chosen subjects, and that any, "well maybe they'll watch the whole thing anyway just to found out" view advantage will be vaporized by AI. What kind of driver are those 18s? I just built 2 18" Martycubes about 2 months ago and use Dayton 18" Ultimax drivers. Kaycee isn't kidding about the low end, every time my subs are on, I'm absolutely blown away! I went from 2 SVS PB13 Ultra subs, I really thought those were incredible. Lol now I have the 18s and I'm never going back! I'm really curious how the other 18" subs sound now. I went with the Ultimax drivers because I kept hearing how good they are, and the people weren't kidding.
