  • We moved into our apartment earlier this year, and we're really happy with how it turned out.
    When conceptualizing the space, we wanted our home to be conducive to staying active, and we also wanted to be more conscious about the stuff we purchased and owned; hence the minimalist design.
    Join us as we bring you through a quick tour of our 65sqm/700sqf home!
    With the help of our friends from Komorebi ( / art.komorebi )
    We've also had MANY, MANY questions about where got our furniture.

    When we made this video, we never expected it to be viewed more than half a million times 😱 it was just meant to be a quick look at the *design* of our apartment. There is now a follow up video where we talk a little more about our 'minimalist lifestyle' that you can watch here: th-cam.com/video/ANoPlz7-cUI/w-d-xo.html
    **This is not a complete home tour! We do own stuff, like normal people do 😅 Our two very bland bathrooms, and a small storage room were not shown in this video. We will do a complete home tour in the future :)**
    A huge thanks to everyone for watching and commenting!
    P.S. we're swarmed with questions asking about where we get some of our furniture. They're all either from Muji or IKEA :)

    I have lived in 5 different countries for the past few years, I naturally became a minimalist(living on your friend's couch forces you to be one lol) Then I recently got a job in another country with a lot of income(a lot for me at least). This led me to thinking about what furniture to buy, then a rug, then this and that.
    I came across your video at just the right timing. I realized that I 'don't have to' buy all those stuff in the first place. Thanks. Truly grateful

      Minimalism, like all things, exists on a spectrum.
      I've seen the other videos, and I understand what you're saying,
      Usually the other minimalists still have furniture and other normal things.
      But they are still minimalists. They do not buy things they don't need.
      Some people are more minimalistic than others, it's considered a discipline.

    70,000+ views update!
    Hello all!
    One month after posting this video, we had 1,000 views. We were like, "Whoa... a THOUSAND views! Cool!"
    Just a few days ago, there was an influx of views and comments, and it hit 10,000 views out of nowhere, and we were over the moon! And as of this moment, we're typing this comment at an unbelievable (to us) 70k views, and it's still going strong.
    We have been absolutely blown away with the positivity we have received. Sure, there are a few negative comments in there somewhere, but they're real collector's items and completely overshadowed by all the positive ones. For that, we're extremely, extremely thankful. Really, thank you to all who have watched and/or commented.
    It's coming to a point where we may not be able to reply to every comment in this video, so we'd like to use this pinned comment to answer the most common question that we've received:
    Q. Where is (insert furniture piece) from?
    A. We got practically every piece that you see in the video from two sources - IKEA and Muji.
    Bean bags - Muji
    Bed frame - Muji
    Floor chairs - Muji
    Dining Table - IKEA
    Desks are from IKEA, but we had the legs shortened to our desired height.
    There's also been a few very interesting conversations about minimalism with some of you wonderful folks. We actually have a video planned for some time in the future, that will talk about our relationship with minimalism, and whether or not we're even minimalists at all.
    Once more, thank you all for watching and reading. Welcome to our young channel, and we hope you enjoy your stay with us! 💖

    We have a saying in Chinese, 中看不中用, which implies something is only nice to look at but impractical for use. Your home is the opposite of this saying. It seems simple and almost unfurnished, but so many thoughts went into it and it perfectly fits your lifestyle.
    I love things like this, it might not be love at first sight, but as you live there, you'll grow to love it more everyday because of its practicality.
    Also, I have back problems and bean bags for couch and sitting on the floor like in your office are the best things to do for your back, and is exactly what I'd planned to have for my future home

    700 sqft seems like a large space when there is such little amount of furniture. I used to live in a 200 sqft apartment when I was single and a 450 sqft home with an ex-boyfriend
    700 sqft at that time would have felt like a mansion for us. Lol
    Eventually I bought (and lived in) homes that were 1,200, 1,500, 1,600, 1,800, 2,400 and 2,800 sqft and currently renting a 2,500 sqft home. My husband and I decided that for us anything above 1,700 sqft is just too much wasted space. So we are looking to buy our last home this year in the 1,500-1,700 sqft range.

    My issue with that kind of spaces is the acoustic comfort of living. When there is nothing on the wall and on the floor there is a lot of echo. It makes it very unpleasant to talk and listen to music or watch tv. Every noise that you make gets amplified, if you ever painted empty room you will know what I'm talking about. And if you have neighbours next, below or above, you will be hearing them a lot even if they are not especially loud.Thats because your room acts as resonating chamber. Let's say it's like living in acoustic guitar.

      living in my accoustic guitar lol

    • @ThoughtworthyCo
      @ThoughtworthyCo  4 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Don't worry, mate. It isn't half as bad as you're making it out to be, that's too much of an exaggeration. It's not going to work as a studio, but there are enough soft-ish material lying around to absorb enough sound reflections to make it comfortable.

    • @sidenotes119
      @sidenotes119 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Oh I didn't mean to attack their space by any means. I was just trying to make point in general that acoustic comfort is something to consider when going minimal. Obviously I wasn't there so I can only talk from my experience. I'm living in block of flats and the moment I removed most of my furniture I started to hear my neighbor Tv. Of course it depends on the walls isolation and type of building but what I want to say is that a painting on the wall or small rug on the flor can change a lot. My example with acoustic guitar was just to visualize idea of resonating chamber and how sound from behind the wall will get amplified. Home presented in the video is beautiful and worm and I wish owners long and healthy lives :)

    • @ThoughtworthyCo
      @ThoughtworthyCo  4 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Yeah, no worries mate. No offence taken. My comment may have sounded harsher than intended too (my bad) 😂 We totally get what you're saying; when we first got the keys to the empty apartment it was pretty unbearable acoustically. In the first couple of months when we had even fewer things, I couldn't even stand turning up the volume of my music as I have pretty sensitive ears. Right now it's perfectly fine 👌 Best of health to you too, friend.

    Hello! Enjoyed seeing how you made the most of your home space. May I ask where your low floor chairs in your office came from? (I looked at the Muji site already 😀) but didn't see it ? And the stand for your headphones? Thanks for sharing, greater inspiration for minimalism.

    • @ThoughtworthyCo

      Hello! The floor chairs are indeed from Muji, if you go to www.muji.com/sg/products and type "floor chair" in the search bar, it should show up. If you head down to the Muji stores you should see them on display too.
      We got the headphone stand online. Can't remember where exactly, sorry! But it's pretty generic so you can just look for the designs that you like.
