The first time I ran in zero drop Altras I had strong shin pain & some calf muscle pain. It really works your lower legs so take it slow adapting to the zero drop.
I am glad you ordered the Via Olympus 2 over the original Via Olympus. The Via Olympus 2 fits true to size for me and the Ego Max midsole is much better than the original Via Olympus midsole. The Via Olympus 2 is one of my all-time favorite workhouse shoes now.
Great review, found the same with the new balance 1080v13 being to soft in the heel. Altra has a new shoe called the the Altra FWD Via. Has a new foam EGO-FLO which is a super critical foam, and it will have there original foot shape which is the same as the olympus series.
@@roostermiller thank you for the info in the new Altra FWD Via shoe and the type of foam. Sounds like a shoe I would like and will want to try out this shoe in the near future. I’m going to keep my eye out for it.
The Olympus has much more sole volume-it's 35 mm thick (see runrepeat for exact numbers) and it's the same throughout the length of the shoe. No matter what the call the foam, it's has to be a lot heavier than the Flow (7 mm less foam towards the front). I like the Olympus 2 for walking, it's too bulky for running for me (might be my weight, which is 65 kg).
Good point and you are right. I just looked up weight on Run Repeat and the Olympus 2 is almost 2 oz heavier than the Exp Flow. Olympus 2 almost the same weight as Asics Nimbus 26. But, jogging in the Olympus 2 feels fine for me, but I am 191 lbs and feel the shoes front rocker assists quite a bit at toe off.
@@Decisions4u Sure, the rocker does work. Without it the shoe of such stack height would be simply unrunnable. There's just too much of a shoe for me. The new midsole compound was also a big improvement over te first iteration, which was exceptionally stiff. The same unpleasant stiffness is found in the Paradigm 7 (much worse than 6).
Thank you for the review!
You're welcome.

I'm getting my first pair of Atra VIa olympus 2 in the mail soon. Thanks for the review.

@@weuek I agree, I bought and returned the first Via Olympus, midsole was way too firm, even for me.
