Did i just witness - Constructive criticism of a video, accountability of the mistakes and then acknowledgement of the changes. Holy crap. this was an internet discussion that was respectful. 2024. what a year!
Ladies and Gentleman, this is how take criticism; with humility and respect. Was wondering how you would respond to his video and this could not have been better. Hopefully you could even collab in the future.
It's crazy how this type of discourse is seen as unique these days. People have really lost the ability to criticize and take criticism in a healthy way, and this is a perfect example of why criticism is a good thing. Not only did the creators learn something, but everyone involved and wathcing has learned something too. More of this please.
Seeing you respond this way earned a sub. When I played Overwatch, I saw a lot of creators that could not handle criticism like this. Thank you for contributing to a positive environment for content creators, as well as the players. 10/10
I respect the response Drongo (Big fan from your AOE videos as well!), personally I feel jungle pathing is something closer to "mechanics" (albeit more advanced than basic mechanics like securing orbs) rather than closer to "macro play". Videos about mechanics like this is still massively helpful to a lot of players, so I would still love to see you make them, but maybe demonstrating the pathing in a bot game makes more sense with some added note stating that this is for demonstration purposes only real games will need to be played around circumstances. Also, I would love to see more videos about macro play concepts from you. A lot of the newer friends of mine getting into this game is fps players and I realized that they struggled a lot with macro play concepts, comparing to me who played more RTS and MOBA games. In this particular example, a lot of the comments deathy was having on your last video are actually centered around the concept of map control: denying enemy jungle farm, pushing out troopers, securing buffs - these are all linked to denying enemy map control such that enemy will have less resources from the map. This concept is amazingly similar to how you exploit your lead in RTS games like AOE, right? I have played Dota for so many years (4.5k hours on Dota 2 only) such that this kind of concept is baked into my minds like instincts, but I found it really hard to explain it properly to FPS players. I think this is where your love for RTS games could strive in the deadlock community!
very good response, i appreciate the explanations a lot! the maturity on both sides of this is a breath of fresh air, in what is often such a toxic environment. subbed!
In dota, optimal farming patterns are usually recorded in a bot match to see the thereotical gpm achieveable. It is then contrasted with actual gameplay with the different variants impacting the play. Your seven farm vid still holds up as a thereotical benchmark, so im glad that you took deathy's breakdown with humble and humility. These different context are still knowledge that is usefull to know.
This is a fantastic video! And it’s not just informative and educational for your viewers - it speaks highly of your integrity as a person and creator. Serious respect!
Great response, huge respect to you and Deathy. Its rad to see two people with solid say in the community having a casual, respectful conversation this early in the game's meta. Speaks well to the game's future and yours as well! Keep up the great work.
10/10 response. I really appreciate how respectful you two are to each other. I especially liked from deathy that he gave good constructive criticism towards you gameplay and what your generall video. But was not only negative about it. Iirc he said that the general editing was good too and sometimes you what you did was spot on. I personally think ultimg for the cellar camp was good because sevens ult early isn't that impect full since without point it deal meh dmg and you don't have items to make you tanky so you are an easy target. Also most of the time(in my games) in the first 5-15 minutes not many team fights happen so a big AoE dmg ult isn't that usefull yet. Btw. Since the path that happend today i think ballaxing got even better because of +2m AoE on ball on max instead of 1m. With the changes that troopers deal less damage early, towers deal more to player and player having to be closer to damage them too, jungling early got more attractive to build an easier lead. PS: i think you have a good Voice for Narration. You have a good speed of speach, leave time for the listener to breath, good pronunciation and so on. Good fit for the style of Videos you are making
This is a response/apology so well made that it loops back to being good content even though I haven't watched either videos its talking about. Like watching this in a vacuum is almost like a small video essay
When I saw there was a response video, I was thinking “oh no!”, but this back and forth is amazing. It builds a better community by leading by example on how to critique and react to it, and I learned a lot about the game in the process. Thanks to both of you.
This is a great way to show how nuanced "the meta" is, and how you have to underrstand both whatsa a good jungle rotation, but also apply it to the game state so to prioritize objectives. Great videos from both of you.
Accountability like this is what builds communities to not be toxic. We are all learning! And it’s great to see the community not banish those who make mistakes, but conversate. Great video!!
This gotta be one of the most wholesome interactions I've seen in TH-cam so far, as someone who have been doing video editing for a while just to give up because how exhausting I find it, I cannot emphasize it enough how much I do relate to your statements. Props to both you and Deathy for solving this all maturely!
Honestly props to you guys in general. DL is my first MOBA and i had absolutely no clue how to play it but channels like this and metro really helped break down the fundamentals for people that are new to the game. And the game itself is very new to everyone, constantly changing and updating, so for people to stay on top of the meta and be able to constantly help newer players and keeping them informed really makes the community different and i feel like this game is gonna explode in popularity over time
Hey drongo, started watching your vids of aoe in season 3 and helped me learn the game a lot. Glad to have you in the deadlock community as well man, best of luck to you man.
I just want to say how much I appreciate the integrity of this response. I saw your first video on jungling and immediately felt something was wrong since (while I’m pretty bad in general) I knew that missing the creeps couldn’t have been the right call. Deathy’s vid confirmed this to me, and truth be told I had at that point made myself a mental note to remember that your channel wasn’t a reliable source of information. In my mind, this is the absolute best way you could have gone about handling this, and I fully intend to stick around moving forward. Everyone makes mistakes and spreads bad info from time to time, and so for me the way we react is what matters. I have more faith in y’all’s channel now than I did before any of this happened, and I’m sure I’m speaking for more than myself when I say that.
It's incredible to see to creators be so respectful to each other while helping the community grow in their knowledge of the game. You guys are awesome.
Imo there is no need to have ONE game that shows off everything in the video, to me it makes much more sense to use clips from different games to keep relevancy high.. The whole back and forth with you and deathy has been pretty wholesome tho :)
Inadvertantly, this whole thing ended up teaching me so many AMAZING tips in a way pure information wouldn't have. Understanding why the actions were not correct, why you might not play that way, and why what you're saying is still helpfull and important. And in my gameplay putting all this knowledge to use has me carrying almost every game instead of only once in a while.
What a classy response video. Huge respect for owning your mistakes and for explaining the shortcuts you took that made that video what it was. I look forward to more content from you!
This was a great learning experience for all of us. Knowing when camps spawn ,where the optimal pathways towards them are and how much they net you is all important info to have and to weave into your general gameplay and gameplan.
Thank you for this, I've been not making videos for a while because it doesnt fit my intended script - but that's the beauty of MOBAs, every match is different..
This is super awesome and i hope we see more of it. Deadlock is so new our knowledge is going to be constantly evolving for the next several years, especially as sweeping changes are made. I think we should encourage criticizing each other respectfully to encourage good discourse. Responses and rebuttals are how we create these foundational understandings of game systems. We need to learn the rules, and why/how you can break them. Keep it up both of you two
You, are a man, among lesser men, thank you for being such a open-minded guy, and helping the community in more ways than just trying to get publicity for yourself, props to you, and I hope you see more success as well.
As a fellow script writey video person, i can TOTALLY see how you reached that workflow only to realise after the fact that it wasn't the right method. Great discussion from both of you. Everybody wins in civil discourse, and I for one learned a lot from listening to the two of you have a back and forth
What a great back and forth between you two. I can't believe how positive the community has been for this game in my experience both on youtube/twitch and in game. This game must be a fake MOBA with this kind of mutual support.
I witnessed this in my own personal experience, where when i watched your video about jungling i tried it out. I noticed the issues with it and adapted to that, and when deathy made the video about you i felt validated in my ability to intuit what i needed to do. Seeing this video come out is extremely awesome, subbed!
Wow this absolutely wasn't the response I was expecting. With this added context, the content in your original video actually makes so much more sense and useful. Seems to be a simple misunderstanding rather than it being bad advice.
10/10 Class act. Very respectful from both sides. Im glad Deathys video was recieved well and im glad deathy didnt criticize in a negative manner. big ups.
One of the most important aspects of winning is determining when is time to push objectives/fight and when is time to farm. Plenty of (even experienced MOBA players) realize they aren't farming enough, overcompensate with Jung and then slowly bring it down to an efficient level if my anecdotal experience is any worth I thought that the video and its responses are basically the best possible public form of discussion we can use to work that ratio out collectively, regardless of what shakes out to be true long term
Both love your content (I THOUGHT YOU WERE ALSO DOING AOE4, same) and your attitude. I saw Deathy's video too and thought "hmm he has a point" so I'm really glad to see this response come out. It's so nice to see both of you working together and producing some great informative content
Its real hard to make videos about a new and complicated game like Deadlock, to not get things perfect is alright. It doesn't change alot of the good point your brought up and your insight and effort is appreciated
Huge respect for the response. Much love to you! Wish you nothing but success :)

Bro i respect the shit out of this actually. Both of you are so respectful of each other, nothing more then trying to learn and get better
My thoughts exactly
It's early in the games meta and things are changing constantly, so discussions like this have to take place to get anywhere.
Beat me to it. Ditto this comment!

Big respect for the 10/10 response most people would have just done nothing
Ladies and Gentleman, this is how take criticism; with humility and respect. Was wondering how you would respond to his video and this could not have been better. Hopefully you could even collab in the future.
Deadlock is lucky to have you and deathy creating content

I’m so glad this constructive criticism resulted in an apology and amending the original video, rather than just pointless beef. Good on you both
It's really nice when creators don't let their ego drive their decisions
10/10 response. I knew i made the right call when i subbed to your channel. Looking forward to your upcoming improved content. Cheers!

I couldn't agree more I almost subscribed a few days back but after this I slapped the sub button right after the video ended
