I have a 91NA with T-Tops. MR2's are difficult to work on so I think you're very skilled to be able to do all of the fixings yourself. Great job!

Scott C thanks! I mainly do cosmetic stuff. Internals I have a hard time with lol.

My car recently overheated from a burst pipe. I replaced the pipe and my engine is still strong but my temperature gauge does not work. At one point, when I started the car the temp needle immediately went to full hot (normal operating level) but quickly dropped to dead cold and stayed here. Not sure what happened but on one of MR2 forums, someone said it may be that the wire was not grounded properly. I searched all over but have no clue how to fix this. I got a different sensor from another car but the problem persists. Any advice you can give me? I watched your other videos and you did an amazing job to this car. Tks.

Scott C Thanks! I’m glad you enjoy the videos. I will be back to building this when I’m done with the VR4. wish I can help. From fishing around on that weird looking pipe junction that has all the sensors on it, I just found the little cable under all of that came lose. If I didn’t find that I was just gona blindly replace all the sensors there/the gauge itself as a last resort. Yours must be a sensor/electrical issue I’m guess. I’m not great with that stuff. Just good cosmetically lol. I would scour the forums and TH-cam or bring to a mechanic who’s good with electrical

Hoang B4 I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the advice earlier. We searched the area around the junction and there was a wire loose. We connected the wire back and sure enough the temperature gauge is back in operation. Many thanks again and keep up the great work!

Scott C awesome I’m glad you figured it out! That stupid wire is so poorly built it’s barely hanging on lol.

WOW....so you got the base model.....but to get a MK2 MR2 for the price you paid is INSANE!
I sold my MK2 Turbo, 1993 ten years ago because it started to rust at rear fender arches. REALLY wish I had kept it as I can not find again for less the $20K!!!!
MK2 MR2 is best of all, but I now have my MK3 and will replace 1zz with 2zz engine and enjoy.
Keep posting and good luck with your AWESOME find!

LSmiata thanks! Yea all the turbo mk2 around me are 5k with issues and a ton of miles or 7k+. Just gona drive this engine around for a year and drop a 4th gen turbo motor or a v6 in this one next year!

For the curbrash on the rims you may wanna grind it down with a power sander. Makes it a whole lot easier and works really well. Nice pick up man

Logan Scott I’m done with two rims hand sanding. That is hard work lol but it’s gonna look so good!

Hey man, maybe you figured it out already but the weird noises coming from your suspension arent from the shocks. They are from the stock shock absorber bearing plates. They are known to cause that...and you can order them via a Toyota dealer. But I recommend a TEIN or BC racing set.. then you can adjust height and they come with their own mounts.

Yeah it was the stock struts and the steering rack. I fixed it

you have the base base model with the crank windows no power steering no power nothing, but you over paid just a tad bit, 1,000 max.

If I could find base w/o rust, I would pay $2k+
I really mis my MK2 Turbo and it had a trunk!! Could also store small soft items in "frunk". Drove from MI to FL to MI and had enough room for luggage and passenger....same can not be said of MK3 spyder (now own)
