I wish people would stop knocking the narrow body cars. Another great video and a special car but I’m happy with my 997.2 C2S PDK. The arches are still so visible in the rear view mirrors and on our Uk roads the narrow is great. I’m not gonna lie I’d love a manual GTS but it’s not the extra few inches at the rear as my top priority. Great passion in these vids though and I love watching anything Porsche. Thanks from the narrow road UK! X
😃🙌 thank you for watching. We ain’t knocking, I think if we had a choice between a narrow body and wide body, we would take the wide body. However if narrow body was the only one available at the time of buying, I would take that too 😂😃
Btw. The Turbo and GT3 cars were Mezger engines, they didn’t have the exact same engine architecture, is isnt that they were “upgraded from the factory”. Also, no 7.2 had IMS bearing issues, perhaps you are thinking of the slightly later 7.1 engine M97 engine that started to come with double rows IMS bearings, which are less prone to fail. Ironically, the very early 2005 997.1 M97 engine with the single row, is fairly easily serviceable and much easier to do the flat 6 “IMS solution” with the direct oil feed kit. It’s still an expensive upgrade, but worth the piece of mind if you plan on keeping the vehicle for the long haul. It’s a genius design.
Worries about 997.1 cars are more about bore scoring issues than IMS. IMS was mainly the 996 I believe. 997.2 don't have either problem (at least 997.2 bore scoring is super rare anyway). That's why 997.2 is so much of a sweet spot before the much bigger 991 entered the scene. 997.2 GTS is a sweet spot within another sweet spot!
Bore is an issue with the 991s also. We know someone with a 991.1 who had to replace a motor because of bore scoring. It’s more a matter of how the car is being used. Constant cold start and stops without driving the car extensively would cause bore scoring too. 🙌😃
@@thedevthing In the 991 & 981 Porsche went to thermal management and some of the engines have had cold seizure issues. The 997.2 & 987.2 didn't, to my knowledge, exhibit this problem.
He needs to swap out that multifunction steering wheel! I just swapped mine in my 991 for the Sport Design wheel and it looks soooo much better. Makes a massive difference.
I would do that to mine but to be honest the buttons are useful and would be hard to give up my heated wheel. You do get used to the buttons after a while and you can change with the stick also.
So funny how those two things are a thing in the US. Here in Germany very little people care, quite overhyped and obviously a big industry, scared people afraid always an easy target..
Just happened upon this, also have a 997.2 C4 GTS! Love the wheels, and knowing the limited selection of CL wheels, what are these, and what are the offsets? Thanks!
They hold their value extremely well I bought mine a year ago for 77k an got offered near 90k by carmax. I have 32k miles on mine they are rare relativity speaking especially with a 6 speed an coupe body style. They also will hang with a 1st gen V10 R8 in a straight line pretty well😉.
Amazing you held on to yours. I really do miss mine 😅😬 Regarding the R8, off the line they would definitely stay together. But the R8 would eventually pull away with the higher horse power. I love the R8 too. 😃🙌😃
The friend that I mentioned in the video with the R8, he and I did a couple of pills and it was neck and neck. Mind you he was a newer manual driver so that probably played a part.
Those unfortunately were not an option in Canada if I remember. We were always envious of Europe where folding bucket seats and roll cage were available. 😃🙌
Amazing car...Amazing Video.... can you give some Details on the wheels: are these 19 inch or 20 inch and original porsche wheels on later models or aftermarket ? Thanks for All...
Both really. It was not the look I was going for and during Covid it was just a pain to get any shop to do any work. And my impatience got the better of me. I hindsight, I should have been patient and kept the car. 😃😅
@@thedevthing sorry but can you elaborate more because I am in the market for a 997 GTS and I want to get coilovers and BBS wheels. That is the look I am aiming for and I saw your video. Thanks
@lapchoine6600 it depends on how low you want the car to be. I just made a mistake where the coilovers I got were lot much lower than the stock ones I had. I wanted more low. Then with the wheels and tire, the wheels are beautiful, but the tire selection is now I would go again. I want a more stanced look like how Eric has in this video. My setup had beefy tires that was cool at first but it started to dislike how bulky the tires looked front and rear. If I was to do this again, I would get coilovers that went extra low and tires that’d didn’t have massive sidewalls. I might not do 3-piece wheels again as the maintenance was a headache for me 😃😂
@@thedevthing Ok good to know that Bilstein coils cannot go much lower. So you were maxed out? Also, your wheels looked good so what were the specs you went with? You could have gotten a lower offset wheel and maybe go with 315/30/19 tires vs 325/30/19? How was the front tires? Thanks again for your help on this and wish you had more video on your GTS!!! Also, I am loving your vlogs by the way!!
PCCBs are over rated for street driving and many at the track don’t like them either simply because the pad and rotor replacement is so expensive. I’ve even got a few buddies with multiple GT3/RS cars that take them off for the standard brakes and store them and bring them back out when the cars is up for sale. But hey, when everyone on the planet seems to want to flex at everything, I guess the yellow Calipers are just another way to make one feel good about themselves. But to be honest, this car is so sick, I wouldn’t think anything more of it with PCCBs. Through a Numeric shifter and a 991.2 GT3 steering wheel in there.
@@KosmicHRTRacingTeam really great suggestions! Thanks for the feedback, I’ve heard that on the PCCBs… honestly it would be convenience around keeping the car clean. (Given cost and availability id likely go with Giro-disk and ceramic pads).

The kit is very interesting. I mean for one, it's a 10' yr that hasn't gotten the face lifted interior yet, so it's already on the low end of the .2 generation. More importantly, the weird kit with the 996 GT3 wing is a bit much and unnecessary. I prefer the OEM look of the GTS more. Makes it more special to the GTS trim. Not hating, just criticizing the design of choice. If you gave me the keys I'd still probably dolphin dive into that driver's seat lol.
They didn’t bring the foldable carbon buckets because the gov requires a certain number of tests to approve them and when they go thru the tests, they destroy the seats. They are readily available overseas. And No, the GTS isn’t a “limited production” car and neither is the GT3 or GT3RS (although they are more rare). The 911R, Sport Classic and the Speedsters are true limited production vehicles.
