What a lovely piece! The Freehand Steering System is a work of art, and the beauty of this video introduction matches it's essence. Well done Anderson Boatworks! I know how you pour everything you have into crafting the FSS and the same attention to detail shows in your crafting of this piece. Venture on my brother!

Georgous just as an art object , but the technical and real world mechanical interface is so incredible.

This wind vane is one of many that work as well…
As far as I'm concerned I feel the Cap Horn wind vane by French Canadian Yves Gélinas the most advanced as it surmised all that were made before. Moreover it is not as cumbersome as all others therefore the original line of the boat remain intact.

I hear what you're saying and for double - enders type boats I would recommend the Cap Horn or the Flemming, but not for the BCC and Falmouth cutter type design boats. They have a boomkin and outboard hung rudder with a single backstay which is perfect for the 'tightess of effeciency'. The rudder is in the perfect location as is the apex point... all this results in the safest place to make adjustments and gives you the option of removing the tiller. The efficiency is touch sensitive control. And you can lose the tiller below on long passages with clear traffic resulting in full working and living space in the cockpit . No lines, no chain, no tiller to hit you in the knees no need for any superfluous rigging just to hold gear from chafing…Lastly, there's nothing cumbersome about adjusting course… It's as simple as moving the wheel line a 1/4 of an inch at a time without having to stand up..., One more thing, the sail is reefable for different conditions to bare poles and still works in 70knots of wind…according to Larry Pardey . Lastly, I think the hydrodynamics are better and more efficient with the vertical trim tab as deep in the water as you can get compare to the pendulum effect….Just saying. Thanks for the answer.
I forgot to say that the ability to rig an electronic helm directly to the Cap Horn system is also one of the bonuses : electric consumption is reduced to milliamps !!…
      Cheers and happy sailing.

Yes, we have that capability too, in fact we had that option before anyone else did, Tom Linskey figured that out back in 1988 when he and Harriet sailed there BCC to south pacific and then up to Japan. I have his original notes.Watch the movie again, and you'll see our arrangement.
