Technics has built some very good cassette decks over the years, some very underrated receivers and turntables too. I currently use a M-224 deck and am very satisfied with it's performance. Two things I don't like about this M-205 unit; separate left and right input level controls make recording a real PIA. Also no Dolby-C noise reduction. If used only as a playback unit, I think it would be swell.
Look to play a cassette tape with any dolby it means that the tape must be recorded with the same dolby too For example rec with dolby B playback the same ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~C ~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~S ~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~DBX ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Or else when recorded without Dolby and the playback with dolby then the playback will sound dull And when recorded with dolby and the playback without dolby then the playback will sound too bright Trust me on that i know it 1st hand :-)
What is name of this reel-to-reel like cassettes? How it is possible that, VU meter shows low values but the sound is loud and clear? I need to record my music about +0 db. Analog VU meter rocks!
The cassette brand is Reel Clear, something like this: www.ebay.com/itm/Gold-Chrome-Reel-to-Reel-Cassette-Tape-/280463865968 Mine is not that expensive, but it is features Chrome tape. This particular tape deck is very good at recording. That is why it deserved my high marks.
