Good to have Aussie content as our catheter kits are different to US, but there are so many breaches of the sterile field. You NEVER walk off from your sterile field even to wash your hands. Her sterile gloves touch the sides of the trolley and rubbish bag. The syringe is also not sterile, not sure what she's doing there, but good for basic tips.
No such thing as a "sterile field" unless you're in a negative pressure rom like OT. Stop preaching outdated information. It's aseptic non touch technique. You unless you have the air being cycled through a hepa filter with negative pressure, you can't stop microbes and debris in the air from landing on your "sterile field".
Her Aseptic Not Touch Technique (ANTT) is violated by attaching the Leuer Lock syringe to the Ampoule and also by touching the outter 3cm of the sterile field which is considered unsterile
@@CodexIndia1 Needlestick risks from this approach, unfortunately (Nurses don't always use a blunt drawing up needle - unfortunately). (No infections - have ever been reported from using a luer lock with an unsterile saline ampoule yet.) Think we should use sterile saline prepackaged syringes like the rest of the world to avoid this issue if this presents such a risk ( if this risk is evidence-based)..
15.18 there is an editing cut and glitch, the removal of the solution used to inflate the holding balloon is not covered completely, otherwise, Excellent information. cheers.
