Mike thank you for this mod video. It almost looks like the new carb cleans up the stock location even though it is larger. Thank you for posting another video. We appreciate you!
Thanks for checking out my new video Jon! Yes it’s a much nicer carb with a better layout with the adjustment screws. I hope you have a great weekend 😊👍
Yeah I took some time off from YT recently, but I’m getting back to making more videos for the winter. Should have the Storm DLX 250 review out in a few weeks 👍
Nice work Mike! I'm 80 yrs old, never rode, but like your videos. Especially your fabrication/welding projects. Hey, at 80 I still do all the things I have always done. Carpentry projects, welding, electronics, etc. Haven't slowed down yet...(fingers crossed).
Thank you for your videos on this bike Mike! I’m looking at buying one to get my foot in the door of trail riding and I appreciate all the information you’re putting out about these because they don’t exist elsewhere. Love your other videos too and keep up what you’re doing.
Thank you! I really appreciate reading your comment 😊 a subscriber just mentioned a few weeks back that there’s a 250cc version of the storm out now. I just bought one to do a comparison and review it on my channel. So keep an eye out for more videos 😊👍
The fit and finish on those Nibbi carbs are very impressive. Especially for the price point. They just seem like a well thought out and engineered piece of equipment.
I just did a Nibbi upgrade on a trail 70 with a lifan 110 engine. Made a world of difference! I'm glad you put this out, because I need to lean it out a bit and after watching this video, it looks like it's a piece of cake!
I bought a Storm 150 DLX after watching your videos, I have since ZS190 swapped it. Fun bike! Crack open the muffler and remove the catalytic cartridge if you want some better exhaust flow.
Nice! I’m currently running a Mikuni VM26 on my DLX 150 and she rips! Tops out @ 60 mph with a 16t front sprocket. I’m also running a 38 pilot, and it does seem like the bike could really use a 37.
The stock "idle mixture screw" is a tapered brass pin that seats into a pin hole that adjusts FUEL, that new carbs screw adjusts AIR, in one of those bottom holes around the rim of the air filter neck, one cuts off pilot fuel, the other ADDS air to the idle circuit, totally different operation- the "Should be 2-2.5 turns" rule doesnt apply every time the piston goes up and down, it breathes a bunch of air in and out of the crankcase line - leaving that filter IN on a dirtbike is an excellent idea
Yes I do understand that this carb had an air bleed rather than the fuel screw like the other one had. Over the past 25 plus years of tuning carbs from motorcycles to dual Side draft Weber carbs on cars the rule of thumb is around 2.5 turns out, much further in or out tells you if your too lean or rich with the pilot jet. It’s just a way to get you close to tuning. Even the manual mentions 1.5 turns out is a good starting position. Why would this 2.5 turns out not apply to the air mixture screw???
@@Mikefestiva I still like you and watch you, but this is now the second time you took offence to one of my comments and go on the offensive- is it not possible that someone older than you, and having messed with stuff as much or more than you could exist? youre an odd guy Mikey - deff an odd approach to "Growing a channel"

I just responded to your comment by asking why can’t that rule be used and mentioned that I have experience tuning carbs. By asking a simple question in response to your comment that said “the 2.5 turns out rule of thumb does not apply” (Why) was simply asked to see what your approach to tuning an air bleed screw was if that rule can’t be used to guide in tuning the pilot jet leaner or richer. This comment is simply just asking your approach that’s all.
Wait, I got it- Take a vacuum carb synch gauge and hook it up or the intake, and watch how much if any the gauge changes for 1/2 and 1 full turn from the fuel type screw, then compare to the amount of change in the gauge to adjusting an air bleed screw at 1/2 and 1 turn- totally different results-
On any carb with a round slide like this you can enlarge the air flow hole through the top of the slide a couple of sizes larger and shorten the spring a single round,or two wraps for quicker crisper throttle response ...
Thanks man! I really appreciate it. Hey you may hold off on ordering the 150, I just ordered and received the Storm DLX 250 version, just got it put together last night. I should have some videos coming out on that bike really soon. I will also do a side by side comparison videos pointing out the pros and cons of each bike. I only got to ride it late last night in the rain but I think it’s going to be a great bike.
Yes I think the 250 is going to be a great bike! I just finished putting it together the other night, still breaking in the engine, it’s got a lot more power and the 5 speed is nice. I will be making a side by side comparison videos of the 150 and 250 soon 😊
I’ve been fighting carb issues on my Yamaha, I don’t know enough about small engines to figure it out. I just keep trying different things haha. Maybe I shouldn’t have waited till I turn 40 to get some machines😂
i had to adjust my throttle cable in the exact same way to get the needle to drop yesterday on my nibbi. i found it interesting cause i kept messing with the idle adjust then i thought the cable was too tight, but an older family frient told me the cable was too tight inside the line and he was right hahaha
You’re exactly right.seems like that carb is a little too big for the cc of the bike. It would probably help if the bike had a legitimate airbox to restrict airflow slightly. Those open element air filters aren’t great
I recently added a wideband to my templar to see what kind of changes each jet/needle/slide opening did and it was pretty eye opening. Interesting stuff going on with these smaller carbs. I have a similar nibbi and I still can't quite tell if it utilizes a transfer port for off idle transition. Also I believe they like to run a little rich for both cooling and staying ahead of the next stroke of air which could suddenly increase. Like others said it has no accelerator pump which would help a lot on big cracks of throttle.
I'll let you know how that carb works out.next month I'll go back to my home in California. I live close to that power sports max warehouse. I'll check out that new 250 in person,I hope.i may pop for one of those.hope mike festival puts out that video.that bike with an extra 6hp would give it a lot more balls.mike from havasu
Yes I’m thinking of selling my Storm 150 as well, I just got my 250, it’s assembled now, so far I think it’s pretty rad 😊👍 I should have a video posted in a few weeks!
Use blue loc tite on any fastener on any and every bike because motorsickles vibrate and take a lot of bumps no matter what you ride and a lost fastener can strand you on the side of the road, interstate, trail,or wilds... It's cheap, easily removed, and almost fool proof... I so wanna hear Mikeys story about a stuck wide open carb 😆
Hey Mike! Great video buddy. Hey I still have the "bog" issue when I snap the throttle and it's driving me nuts. As you know I have the same carb (Nibbi PE26). I seem to have tried everything to correct this problem but no luck so far. Last week I checked the valves....just to check them. I know it wasn't related to the hesitation/bogging issue. Before the valve adjustment I checked compression. The bike had a whopping 170PSI of compression! I was quite surprised it was so high. That does explain why it takes a very healthy kick to get it started if not using the E-start. Ok here's where things get a little weird. I checked the valves. There were very tight. The spec is .004 for both exhaust and intake. They were far too tight. I adjusted them both so the .004 gauge would slide in. So I reassembled everything and started it. It seem to start a bit easier...but when I rechecked the compression is was FAR lower. It went from 170PSI to 75PSI??! Do you by any chance have a compression tester to test your Storm 150 to see what you get for compression? Maybe I messed up when adjusting the valves to have it be so much different in compression? I think I may have to take another look at the valves. Also thank you for mentioning me in this video. My brother actually told me about! Thanks again. I'm working on another video right now regarding the jetting and bogging issue when the throttle is cracked hard. It turns about I had already changed my main to #95. I originally had a 120 but it was way too rich. I went down to a 110 and still had the bog. I then switched it to A 95 main and still have the same issue. I adjusted the needle to the same position you just did on your Nibbi carb and I still have the problem. There is much less carbon on the plug. I'm starting to think the carb size may be too large for this engine. Any clue what might be going on here? I might experiment with the stock carb just to get more information for trouble shooting this problem. Also I wanted to share some stuff with you and asked you a few questions that really shouldn't be asked publicly here on TH-cam. If I gave you my knobbyonix email address for you to shoot me an email so I could go over a few things with? It' about your store/merch and I also wanted to let you know about a new X-Pro bike that became available over the last 3 weeks. When my brother and I were talking on the phone about his purchase of the Templar X 250 I noticed a new model called the Paladin 300. This is a TOTALLY different breed of bike when compared to the other X-pro lineup. It's a 300cc 33.5 HP, EFI, 6 speed liquid cooled beast. My brother just bought that bike instead of the Templar and it's has all the bells and whistles that the X Templar has including the fully adjust suspension. Thanks man! -Chris

the ONLY way to eliminate the "bog" is to get a carb with an accelerator pump. like a Kehin FCR. one that fits a crf150r. that would cost too much and be too complex for a "fun" machine. the other simple option is a carb for an xr200 or 200r. lastly if you dig way back a carb for an xl125 or xl185 is the same as stock with a normal pilot jet. 1979-1987 vintage
Purchased a rippa mini excavator with the pedals for the thumb and fo the blade had no major issues. Appreciate the video when you put it out. How was yours doing?
Right on 👍 I think those foot pedals would be nice to have on my mini Excavator. Mine is still doing really well. I have about 45 hours on it so far and I have had no issues except I did reinforce the sides of the bucket due to some bending, I made a video on that and it was easy to fix. At the moment my friend is borrowing my mini to do some water line repairs. He was amazed how well the mini works. He owns a full sized backhoe but it was way too big to get into tight spots the mini had no problem getting into. Take care and have a great weekend 😊👍
I will probably be making a video on the skid steer, but I’m on the fence about it. I ended up receiving the skid steer a few months later than it was first anticipated. When I received it it was not the model I ordered but the newer ( upgraded model ) but unfortunately I really wanted the original model. To me the original model was simpler but the layout was better in my opinion. The company I ordered it from had a hard time ordering just one unit from the manufacturer rather than a shipping container load, that’s why it took longer. The fact is I’m still determining if I’m happy with it or not. Usually I only make videos on products I buy, I’m happy with and offer good value like the Rippa mini Excavator. I feel I need to get a lot more work done with the mini skid steer before I make up my mind if it’s something I would actually recommend to my viewers or not. Haha sorry for the long reply 🤣 But I figured I would let you know where I’m coming from on that subject. Take care and have a good weekend 😊
Could you check out some of the questions on cheap diy welders from your 1 year old vid on that? Thanks and I love you videos. I don't know if you see the oild vid comments is why I ask.
Hey Mf, how are the mini trucks doing you and your broham have? I'm looking for one but can't decide. Why did you guys decide on the ones you got and what about the toyota? I think it's the Daihatsu. I know they all have different engine locations. What do you think of the 1999 Hondas?
It should be the PE24 not the PWK24 BUT there is a owner of a X-Pro Storm 150 DLX that tried out the PE24. He's sending it back as the bike was worse with this carb than it was with the PE26. Just and FYI.
Hey! Question how many hours give or take do you have on the bike? I just bought one and am going to do eveyrbting correctly on it but just wondering how it’s been holding up for you, and or the hours. Thanks!
Yes first is really short, I went up one tooth on the front sprocket, that definitely helped, plus you can still use the stock chain, with a 1 tooth increase. You may consider that? Should be a link to the one I ordered on Amazon 👍
@ I upgraded to the 15 tooth in your description and it still feels a little short but I still have fun on it and awesome video btw I had went ahead and bought the nibbi when I bought the bike so super stoked for this video!
no they are not but my brother had the tao tao 140cc it never blew up ran great he got like 200+ hours on it and bought it used too, caught on fire because it backfired into the airfilter while trying to start it after doing a wheelie. and went up in flames. I'm assuming because he never did the valve lash for the 6 years the bike was around for.
The storm 1509 has a pretty light pull of the clutch however if it's not light enough for you, there is always the Magura Hydraulic clutch kit which converts the stock cable clutch to a fully hydraulic clutch with a master cylinder and slave cylinder.
Well I definitely would have but the stock one claimed it was 27mm so when I ordered the 26mm I thought it would have gone that way haha 🤣 but the stock was actually a bit smaller than 27. Thanks for checking out my video!

At the moment my friend is borrowing my mini to do some water line repairs. He was amazed how well the mini works. He owns a full sized backhoe but it was way too big to get into tight spots the mini had no problem getting into. Take care and have a great weekend 😊👍
Bring the minibikes back
Have you seen the Storm DLX 250? Seems like a cool upgrade while keeping the low weight.
Yes I just ordered one! I mentioned it in the last bit of the video. Thanks for watching 😊
Nice upgrade for the bike, so when's the video on the skid steer coming?😉
I saw that setting, and hope he gives it high marks...
Could you check out some of the questions on cheap diy welders from your 1 year old vid on that? Thanks and I love you videos. I don't know if you see the oild vid comments is why I ask.
So Mikie, what's the blue thing on tracks sitting behind the bike ??
Maybe that carb will work better on the new Storm with 223cc engine? Then you could get a smaller one to try on the 150.
Next install a tbv2 big valve race head with cam.
Hey Mf, how are the mini trucks doing you and your broham have? I'm looking for one but can't decide. Why did you guys decide on the ones you got and what about the toyota? I think it's the Daihatsu. I know they all have different engine locations. What do you think of the 1999 Hondas?
So i have a 140cc apollo and a dlx should i buy the PE 24mm or the PWK24mm?
It should be the PE24 not the PWK24 BUT there is a owner of a X-Pro Storm 150 DLX that tried out the PE24. He's sending it back as the bike was worse with this carb than it was with the PE26. Just and FYI.
Hey! Question how many hours give or take do you have on the bike? I just bought one and am going to do eveyrbting correctly on it but just wondering how it’s been holding up for you, and or the hours. Thanks!
Hey question on your pe 26mm when its too lean do your muffler gets really hot or is that normal.
I have a 100 and a 38 in there with 1 1/2 out
You already have a o ring on the carb, you don't need the plastic spacer gasket
How does first gear feel on your bike?
Mine feels like I get to 5mph in 1st and it’s just begging me to click into 2nd
Yes first is really short, I went up one tooth on the front sprocket, that definitely helped, plus you can still use the stock chain, with a 1 tooth increase. You may consider that? Should be a link to the one I ordered on Amazon 👍
@ I upgraded to the 15 tooth in your description and it still feels a little short but I still have fun on it and awesome video btw I had went ahead and bought the nibbi when I bought the bike so super stoked for this video!
Is this clutch heavy to pull in cause I’m 14 looking for a bike for enduro in the spring but don’t have a big budget
no they are not but my brother had the tao tao 140cc it never blew up ran great he got like 200+ hours on it and bought it used too, caught on fire because it backfired into the airfilter while trying to start it after doing a wheelie. and went up in flames. I'm assuming because he never did the valve lash for the 6 years the bike was around for.
nah it's super light, i recommend finding a used one on facebook for cheap
Ok
The storm 1509 has a pretty light pull of the clutch however if it's not light enough for you, there is always the Magura Hydraulic clutch kit which converts the stock cable clutch to a fully hydraulic clutch with a master cylinder and slave cylinder.
sounds like it might need a little more timing
I'd have probably gone with a little smaller carb.
Guess you address that later in the video.
Well I definitely would have but the stock one claimed it was 27mm so when I ordered the 26mm I thought it would have gone that way haha 🤣 but the stock was actually a bit smaller than 27. Thanks for checking out my video!
main jet probably too big, pilot jet is too small.
No not the case.
