I am 5’7 with a 30 inch inseam leg length and I have been looking for a dual sport motorcycle in that price range for a long time. I like that it has both kick and electric start. I’m going to follow along on your upcoming videos of this motorcycle because you have my interest on high on this one.
I have a couple of Chinese toys. I'd highly suggest while putting it together to measure the wheel bearings and order good ones. Get your miles out of the factory ones but they will go out in the first year.
And look, it comes with some useful steel for projects later!😅. It’s good that you show the little things to look for and do, like greasing and quality insights. . Thanks Mike for sharing, I’m definitely consider this just to scoot around my property. Loving the blue!

Cool! Great informational video! My father in law just picked one up about a month ago, I'll have to send him this now ha ha... he likes his so far. Enjoy! Be safe out there!
I emailed xpro and got them to change the mco and the bill of sale to say duel purpose. I didn't have to have it inspected and I showed them that I already paid tax. I got it titled and registered no problem
I sent them the exact same email asking to change it and I got an email sent back that was something like “thanks for emailing us we sent your MSO out, you should receive it soon.” They never addressed my question if they could please make sure my MSO said dual purpose or motorcycle. I think it comes down to the person actually reading your email and caring enough to help, sounds like you got something that actually was willing to do it. Thanks for commenting 👍 I will pass this info on to others.
There is a heck of a lot of good info in this video! Thanks Mike. The bike looks surprisingly well made short of that bracket as well. I'm only 22 minutes into your video though and maybe it blows up at the end, but I doubt it. :)
I have the Hawk 150 and it’s a well made machine. Sure a number of parts are cast aluminum and not forged or billet, but they’re also beefier to make up for it. I’ve had mine for a couple years now and love it. It’s even taken a couple lay downs well with no issues. I had no issues getting the OHM registration from our DMV and was all good!

Great video my friend! I’ve got about 8 hours of runtime on both of our 125s and I am quite impressed as well. The Xpro X17 with the fully automatic transmission is noteworthy for sure. Much more capable than I expected and is a perfect starter bike for my wife! I look forward to more video reviews!
Thanks for your content. Last time I rode my CanAm Qualifier 250 was in 1979...lol I have been itching to buy a bike again and hit some trails, but wanted to buy something new, and not pay a fortune. Mike, Good concise video. I've worked on friends chinabikes for them. The valve train components are poor. The cylinders can't seem to seat rings into them. I just can't see putting up with the issues. I know why you got one though. I'll follow your build up, I know it'll be cool. Good job! PS I just got my predator engine mounted on my 1980 XR200 yesterday. I'll finish it today. It will be good to teach my grandkids to ride on. Thanks for your channel.
It seems like some of the gear from China is improving. I hope so because I just ordered a Chinese clone of a 71cc Husqvarna chainsaw for occasional milling. Thanks for the video Mike !
I picked up the Templar X 6 months ago as a small dualsport runabout and it has actually exceeded my expectations on what a cheap Chinese bike can be. Look forward to seeing your updates on these bikes, good luck with them.
Man that’s fantastic to hear, I was hoping these bikes would turn out to be good but you never really know till you get some miles in on them. So far the little Storm 150 DLX has been pretty good, I took it to the trails this last weekend and it exceeded my expectations! I’m looking forward to receiving my Templar 250 soon! Thanks for commenting about your experience 😊👍
Nice compared to the older bikes. I bought a 200cc dual sport about 15 years ago for like $800.00 out the door from a dealer in Southern California. Company went out of business a few years later because the bikes didn't pass emissions - the initial emissions certificate was rescinded by the State of California. I was permitted to continue to register the bike. Sold the bike a few years later for $1100.00.
Glad to see a video, that thing looks hard to beat for the price. I've considered a little bike for going to work and back but my route is either interstate, or through a city. So many of my family has died on harleys so I have stayed off bikes, never ridden anything but a honda 50 haha
Doesn't seem bad at all for the price! I would need a few more cc's myself, don't think it would get up and go that quick with me in it haha. I had one of the Chinese Yamaha scooters about 20 years ago too, mine was a pile of crap 😂 kick starter broke immediately, and the electric was worthless, but hey, it had an alarm 😂😂😂 great vid man, look forward to the update!
Haha I do remember my Electric start on my scooter didn’t work very well either, especially after the 70cc kit with higher compression, but my kick starter never broke off luckily 😂 Thanks for checking out my new video 👍 Take care and I hope all is well 😊
Bought this bike almost a month ago, only had 1 time where it didnt spark had to replug in some stuff and she booted right up, took it out for some hard riding and this things truly good
I have the Tao DBX1 with the 140cc engine and love it! These newer china bikes are getting to be a lot better than the old stuff. Put a real Mikuni carb on it and it's perfect.
Tip: rotella 15 40 in white jug has jas certificate that a suzuki drz400 calls for, its cheaper and exact same type oil, probably better actually at half price
I got a black one for my son for Christmas. It came 2 days ago and I put together last night. The gas tank was leaking, so being the weekend I sent an email complaining then I JB Welded the seam to stop the leak. I am hoping to get a new tank before Christmas but it is not leaking now, so I drove it around for a couple minutes. Runs well, but back tail lights aren't working, so I got to get a wiring diagram to figure that out. Well it's hid in shed until Christmas now
I just bought the this bike. Not quite running yet but i just found out by my dmv they wont register it seems it say off road motorcycle on the MCO. So check your state before buying if you want it on the road. Still looking foward to playing on it around in the woods thou. And getting my better half on it to learn how to ride.
Great video Mike. Pretty impressive for the price! The biggest deterrent for me on these bikes is how loud they are. They all have that moto-x noise level. Otherwise they are super enticing. Great job.
Looks like a good value little beast. For me the muffler is way too sharp in the noise department. I am always concerned with disturbing others. I have had 37 bikes through to a BMW 1200 GS, but the most fun I ever had was a Honda SL125!
Appreciate the time you put into your videos. Well Done. 👍 A Nephew that really wants to try 2 wheels soon. Giving me good ideas for a solid first bike for him to learn on and develop skills. Thanks again and Subscribed.
Right on! I was thinking my Storm 150 with the shock lowered down would probably fit my Nephew, he just turned 12 and would really like a bigger dirt bike. I hope your Nephew has a great time riding 😊👍
In terms of parts you can litterrally make your own 50,125 or 250 cc bike just by buying parts i was shocked yesterday when i tried to make list of parts needed to make 50 cc moped.Only thing i needed to make is basic frame and few brackets everything else is avaible to buy.Stuff like whells with brakes, front suspension, back arms, engines, electronics, ligths, seats, switches it is mental.
"Full size for me!" - Mike Festiva 😜👍 (But not me. I'm over 6'.) Chineseium! But hey if it gets you there, out on the trails and up on some mountain ridge ( AND back again), why not. To be fair, some of the Chineseium that I've seen recently, Kove 450 Rally, have a lot of things like those foot pegs that you mentioned. They didn't have to make it that nice, but they did. The Kove 450 Rally covered in a ton of little touches where they definitely made it nicer than they had to especially considering the $$. Fun vid!
Thanks for doing these videos Mike, I have been looking for an inexpensive and light trail bike to be able to ride with my grandson. I think this one will do the job.
I like that microtruck you have. There's one sitting at the County Works Dept they picked up on the road. I don't know how it broke down but I'd like to have it.
New subscriber here. I’ve been sitting on the fence on this very bike for the last 3 weeks, so I really appreciate you putting the review together. Had a couple of dual sports (KLX250s, XT225) I sold last year because I rarely road them. Now kind of regret it, especially the XT225. Need something for occasional trail/street but not sure it’s possible to license in UT. I’ve looked at the Honda XR150L but can bring myself to spend 3K. Looking forward to your next videos!
Right on 😊 I have a good trail riding video on this bike coming out soon I think it will show the ability of the bike fairly well. I should have that video posted in about a week 👍 I have always really enjoyed dual sport motorcycles as well!
Keep an eye on the top engine mount brackets as the tend to crack i welded some thicker mounts as mine compleatly snapped but nice bike i should of got the road legal model but still gd fun
I used to have a similar 125cc but only smaller wheels and off road only , really awesom machine just i wished it was bigger and street able and the sear confier , only issue she had was the top engine mount broke so i had to weld it , , really looking foward to your bike
Thanks Mike! I plan on keeping it a long time. The Honda will be reliable and they have parts if I need them. I also found a printed service manual that has every detail about the bike.
So did it have a federal safety label on neck, or did it also say for offroad only use on the neck as well? Down here in cali we can't registered new dirt bikes unless they say they confirm to bla bla bla. I've really wanted a 125cc dual sport , that's the closet I've seen so far, there is one company that is suppose to come out with one in california tho.
Stand threads up vertically and apply blue loctite on tip and let it flow down to cover all threads and let fully dry... Then commence in assembly and place more blue loctite to bolts before cranking them home... this will assure they will not rattle out... 👍👍
at about 29 minutes in, when you are riding the road through the woods I noticed that the woods are really cool looking, like for a movie or something.
If it's slightly magnetic it's 304 stainless. If it isn't its 316 stainless. 304 will rust over time. Great job on proper assembly. Happy new year Mike.
Yeah, Didn't Know That About Stainless Hardware. This Is Why I Read The Comments To Pick Up Extra Tips. I Liked His Assembly, Too & Maybe Safety Wire The Spokes.
Lot of fun for the price! I had an older 110 (or maybe it was a 107, can't remember) back in the day and man, the engine and trans was GOOD on it, just oil changes! Overall build quality back then wasn't the best, but man did I have fun on that thing and it received quite a bit of abuse! 😆 These bikes are perfect to introducing people to the sport of riding and just having fun, best part is, you didn't spend a lot to buy in. There is nothing worse than dropping $5-8k on a bike big only for it to collect dust. Glad you're having fun out there Mike, looking forward to the other videos and hope you had a nice Christmas and Happy New Year!
Right on! Yes I have seen the build quality come up on these bikes over the years, compared to the scooter I had and a crap quad my friend gave me. These bikes definitely seem much better then the other stuff. Thanks for checking out my new video! Happy New Years 😊👍
Thanks for checking out my new video 👍 I took this bike out for a trail ride and I was really surprised how well it did. I should have that video out soon!
Hi mike.putting the same color bike you got together tonight.the only problem i had was trying to put top of shock in that other hole to make it sit a little lower.the top part of shock is hittingpreventing me to get the top hole lined up to put the bolt through.take a look at that setup.there might be a reason why there putting the shock in that partiular hole.bike looks awesome.
I never tried to mount the shock on that other location, it just looked like a second mount, when I made the video I remembered someone In another video mentioning it was a second shock mount, maybe it isn’t? Or will require some mods to mount it? So far I have really enjoyed my Storm 150, fun simple bike 😊👍 Have fun on yours!
I think you would definitely rip around the farm for sure on one of these! I have a video coming out soon on a bigger 250cc Dual sport that maybe even better for you. Take care and thanks for checking out my video 😊 I’m looking forward to seeing more sawmill and building projects on your channel 👍
@@Mikefestivaive owned several of these hawk Apollo Honda clone bikes they have been great bikes I did some research before I ever started the engine and the oil they send with the bikes is break in oil you only run it for s couple hours it will tell you in the owners manual how long to run the break in oil then put the specified oil in the bike and after that never had an issue with the bikes. Now I have known a few people who ran the bikes really hard with the break in oil and never changed it and after 3 months of riding every day for a couple hours locked the engine up, lucky the motors are fairly cheap compared to name brand engines great video Mike keep up the awesome work.
Mike- Storm DLX250 - I have 2 emails from X Pro saying the bike is not net/curb weight 176 lbs...but 213 lbs ( yes I know it is close to the 215 shipping eight but went thru all the details with Winnie in China and she reports she even contacted manufacturer. ) As your time allows please educate us on the bikes real weight. Love your videos and delivery. thank you!
If you ask XR nicely, when you order, they will send you a new MCO that says motorcycle. That way you don’t have to go get an inspection. They sent mine out before I even got my bike so that I could go get my plates and be ready to ride. I’ve been extremely impressed with the company so far. If the bike is half, I will be very happy.
They are good about getting replacement parts, but I called and emailed them about the MCO and I didn’t have the same experience, they send me a vague email that wasn’t very helpful. But that’s great you had a better experience with them. All and all both bikes I ordered from them turned out to be great 👍 time will tell but I think they will hold up for a long time. Thanks for the info, this could help out others buying a Moto for that company.
@@Mikefestiva I ordered through Amazon thinking that would give me slightly more recourse than going direct. I also made my request through the Amazon messaging system, I wonder if that was the difference? My corrected title did actually arrive via UPS the day before my bike arrived. hey, I don’t suppose you know anything about the oil filter they mentioned in the owners manual they gave me? It does not give a location, and I have not found a single TH-camr that mentions it. There’s a few things like that that have almost motivated me to make my own channel when I figure them out!
Right on 👍 the 250cc just got delivered this week, got it put together and registered, I’m starting to test it out, so far it runs good and feels well built. I hope to have a video up in a few weeks once I get more miles on it.
My son's Honda CRF110 is a decade old, and even it was made in China. Interested in getting him an X-Pro Sail 125 to learn the clutch on. If it lasts 3 years and has no safety issues, I'll be happy.
Look at the dnm or fast ace rear shocks give u a fully adjustable piggyback shock and volt and other manufacturers make fully adjustable forks I've seen people put a ktm sx85 forks and rear shocks too
I bought the XPro 250 with a front light and have had it gor 2.5 years. It is essentially a Honda 230 clone motor, but runs really good. Hope this runs good for you!!
I just got the Templar 250 delivered less than a week ago, I got plates on it. Definitely looking forward to riding it. Thanks for your input on your experience with the Xpro bikes 👍 so far I’m happy with the two bikes and the value.
Merry Christmas Mike! Congratulations on the new bike, nothing like that feeling you get with a new machine. I believe the main reasons those bikes are listed as off road use only are to avoid emissions, and the plastic fuel tank. Street legal bikes are required to have steel tanks in the US. Brrraaaaap!
my 125 hawk said on the website it had a non adjustable rear schock but it had ajustability on it when it came,i had to stiffen the rear one,the frt one needed stiffening too but couldnt.
Can not believe how easy it is where you live to get one of these approved for on road use! Here in Australia you would have no chance. If the bike does not get sold fully complianced by the manufacturer to meet all rules including dual ABS and emissions etc you can't ever register it. Crazy.
Man yes they seem crazy strict about that! It was pretty simple to get it approved here, at least in Washington state, there are other states that are even more relaxed about it, but again there’s others that are really strict. My mini truck in legal roads in Washington state but the bordering states of Idaho and Oregon they are not road legal? It’s odd.
Great video! After watching this and reading other reviews I talked my wife into letting me get one for Christmas. After riding yours for a little while, what basic upgrades do you suggest? Thanks.
Finally. Mike is back in Da house. I was just telling Tammy. I have so missed your videos man. Great to have ya back !!!!😊

"Full size for me!" - Mike Festiva 😜👍 (But not me. I'm over 6'.)
Chineseium! Fun vid!
Mike, thanks for the content. That looks to be well worth the money. I’m 6’4”, I’m looking forward to your review of the bigger bike. ✌️🇨🇦👍
Thanks for doing these videos Mike, I have been looking for an inexpensive and light trail bike to be able to ride with my grandson. I think this one will do the job.
Enjoyed this vid, looking forward to see what you do with this bike.
Nice review, looking forward to the upgrades.
If you can, please go into detail on the suspension. I look forward to the new video!@@Mikefestiva
Very cool. Look forward to seeing more.
I’ve been riding the Honda XR150L all year. I thought it was a good value but definitely not as affordable as this bike
Yes but your Honda will last for years 👍 I have over 30K on my Honda XR650L.
Time will tell on my Storm 150cc?
Thanks for checking out my new video!
Thanks Mike! I plan on keeping it a long time. The Honda will be reliable and they have parts if I need them. I also found a printed service manual that has every detail about the bike.
looks like a fun little ride mike!!! great vid thank you!!!!
Thanks! I have a trail ride review coming out next week, definitely took the bike out and tested it’s capabilities in the next video! 😊👍
I've got a new idea for a Christmas present now! Thanks
Good job with the video Steve from Annapolis Maryland I really like that bike I'm going to get me one or if they got red I like the color red
Very helpful, Thank You! I was going to go with the X-Pro 125cc, but looks like this bike will fit me way better.
I’m a Millwright I have used lockright before 🤣
Merry Christmas,Mr.Mike
I'm here in Brazil and these Chinese bikes are everywhere!
Cool, cool, cool, .....May swap my rm125 for one of these ......Nice job man !
at about 29 minutes in, when you are riding the road through the woods I noticed that the woods are really cool looking, like for a movie or something.
14:36 I'm running an rk chain now on my 125 from them because I snapped my chain almost right away, good call on getting one ordered right away
Thanks Mike, nice video.
mike festiva is my spirit animal
😂👍
Lot of fun for the price! I had an older 110 (or maybe it was a 107, can't remember) back in the day and man, the engine and trans was GOOD on it, just oil changes! Overall build quality back then wasn't the best, but man did I have fun on that thing and it received quite a bit of abuse! 😆
These bikes are perfect to introducing people to the sport of riding and just having fun, best part is, you didn't spend a lot to buy in.
Happy New Years 😊👍
Keep up the good work Mike. Ty
Thanks for checking out my new video 👍
I took this bike out for a trail ride and I was really surprised how well it did.
So far I have really enjoyed my Storm 150, fun simple bike 😊👍 Have fun on yours!
how is it now ? did you try to change the headlight? waiting for the updates :) take a new video of riding it thanks@@Mikefestiva
Looks like loads of fun! Something like that would be a blast for ripping around the farm....
I think you would definitely rip around the farm for sure on one of these! I have a video coming out soon on a bigger 250cc Dual sport that maybe even better for you. Take care and thanks for checking out my video 😊 I’m looking forward to seeing more sawmill and building projects on your channel 👍
That thing is kinda neat. I'm interested to see what all You do to it.
Hope it's reliable and awesome!
Time will tell over the next year how well it holds up.
Thanks for checking out my video 👍
Mike- Storm DLX250 - I have 2 emails from X Pro saying the bike is not net/curb weight 176 lbs...but 213 lbs ( yes I know it is close to the 215 shipping eight but went thru all the details with Winnie in China and she reports she even contacted manufacturer. )
As your time allows please educate us on the bikes real weight. Love your videos and delivery. thank you!
@@richard-e7m9p his video is on the storm 150.dlx not the 250 dlx. Do your research
What's the company or website please
@@Mikeparkerofficial x-pro is the bike manufacture, and I bought it on Amazon
Looking forward to the review on the 250cc, my kinda size bike
Right on 👍 the 250cc just got delivered this week, got it put together and registered, I’m starting to test it out, so far it runs good and feels well built. I hope to have a video up in a few weeks once I get more miles on it.
My son's Honda CRF110 is a decade old, and even it was made in China. Interested in getting him an X-Pro Sail 125 to learn the clutch on. If it lasts 3 years and has no safety issues, I'll be happy.
Look at the dnm or fast ace rear shocks give u a fully adjustable piggyback shock and volt and other manufacturers make fully adjustable forks I've seen people put a ktm sx85 forks and rear shocks too
Thanks for the suggestion! I definitely will look into that 😊👍
Can we buy indian TVS bikes in the UK? I rode over 100 miles on a old 160cc in india . It only did 50 mph but was great on economy and reliable.
Brilliant vid, excellent content 👍🏻
sweet little bike love it mike!!!!
Thanks for checking out my dirt bike video 😊👍
I bought the XPro 250 with a front light and have had it gor 2.5 years. It is essentially a Honda 230 clone motor, but runs really good. Hope this runs good for you!!
I just got the Templar 250 delivered less than a week ago, I got plates on it. Definitely looking forward to riding it. Thanks for your input on your experience with the Xpro bikes 👍 so far I’m happy with the two bikes and the value.
ive had mine for a year now. i ride it every other day and its doing fantastic.
Merry Christmas Mike! Congratulations on the new bike, nothing like that feeling you get with a new machine. I believe the main reasons those bikes are listed as off road use only are to avoid emissions, and the plastic fuel tank. Street legal bikes are required to have steel tanks in the US. Brrraaaaap!
Thanks for checking out my new video 😊
I think you are right about that 👍
I should have a trail test video coming out in about a week.
Go Mike, GO😊
my 125 hawk said on the website it had a non adjustable rear schock but it had ajustability on it when it came,i had to stiffen the rear one,the frt one needed stiffening too but couldnt.
One day might have to get one soon myself after watching this
Can not believe how easy it is where you live to get one of these approved for on road use!
It’s odd.
Put, stainless dish scrubby in end of muffler, makes wicked quiet.
Great video! After watching this and reading other reviews I talked my wife into letting me get one for Christmas. After riding yours for a little while, what basic upgrades do you suggest? Thanks.
I’ll be talking about the upgrades soon! 👍
