In Naura Hayden's book ?Everything you've always wanted to know about energy but were too weak to ask", she advised taking a blended shake that contains no less than four tablespoons of brewer's yeast, along with four tablespoons of lecithin. I used to take it and there were indeed good effects, thinking of starting up again. Nutritional yeast is great but more like a seasoning, doesn't pack the nutritional punch of brewer's yeast. She advised using skim milk, safflower oil and sugar substitute, I used whole milk, no oil, and bananas as sweetener. Recipe can be adapted to our preference but brewer's yeast and lecithin are the basics.
I just recently got friends onto nutritional yeast. I put it on everything. Sweet or savoury. I dont like to miss the opportunity to add all this nutrition. I sleep a solid 7 hrs with out those 2 toilet breaks. Just getting that uninterupted sleep has made a major impact in my life.

If I am feeling particularly anxious - a rare occurrence now - I mix 2-3 tablespoons in water and add to that some kelp sea-salt and dill seasoning. My taste palette has completely changed ever since eliminating all sugar, fruit (except avocado and some tomato) grains, dairy and coffee. I'm not suggesting that you or anyone else must adhere to this, however foods I didn't previously particularly enjoy I now find myself thoroughly enjoying. Hope it works out for you! 😊

Important question. Googling dried brewers yeast questioning if it contain gluten resulted in confusion. "Brewer's yeast, also called saccharomyces cerevisiae, is not gluten-free" and "Brewer's Yeast Powder is Gluten-free". What is true? I'm trying brewers yeast on a carnivor diet.
I suffer from celiac disease and have the opposing issue, weight gain. I've found that probiotic ( yeast supplements) therapy is the easiest solution. With celiac I've found that gluten free diet in the USA is nearly impossible especially when your economically challenged. I was ( after quitting elicit drugs ) finding that my dreams were extremely problematic paranoid and that the introduction of yeast of different strains and varieties were making a revelutionary difference in my energy levels, blood sugar levels, liver functions, and therefore overall attitudes and general outlooks in life were being affected. Bravo wonderful and informative production on s cutting edge nutritional suppliment. Hi there very brief "I real enjoy, benefit from your content" I recently dropped 35 pounds in 50 days by fasting and keto. I did one 1day, two 2day fasts to start then fifteen 3day fasts... 3days of fasting then one meal and right back into the 3 day fast. Cheers Lance
I don't need to lose weight, but I just completed a three day dry fast (70 hrs) and I certainly did lose weight, but I did gain it back again of course because i am at my normal weight to begin with. It was really 4 days, because the first day was liquids only, in order to flush the digestive tract. This made the dry fast a lot easier. I have begun doing this in between seasons, i.e. every three months, as this seems to be the ideal time when appetite seems to wane. Next time, I probably won't go three full days dry fast, but I might do the third day as a juice fast to stimulate the pancreas and ease back into eating that way. A friend of mine does four day dry fasts monthly, but I will not be recommending that to anyone. The commonly recommended dry fasting period is 1 to 1 1/2 days (36 hrs) I believe. My first two dry fasts were one day only, stopped when pulse rate increased on one of them. *Good for experienced fasters to have a go*. Helped me with internal congestion in the upper body, and also cholesterol/ heart health was improved, I feel. Fasting is suppose to reset the metabolism and regulate the appetite for optimal weight, so I highly recommend.
Nutritional yeast works great in any foods that are savory. Any foods that you would sprinkle cheese on top of, you can sprinkle "nooch" on too. Popcorn, eggs, salads... Vegans substitute Parmesan cheese with nooch, so think of using it as cheese and your good to go!!
Unfortified brewer's yeast usually packs more nutrients than unfortified nutritional yeast. It’s got more protein, B vitamins (like B1, B2, B3), selenium, and chromium. Nutritional yeast is also high in protein and some B vitamins, but it doesn’t stack up unless it’s fortified. Both are good for you, but brewer's yeast generally brings more to the table in its natural state.

Dr. Berg I weighed 114kg when I started this diet on April 13 2017. I lost around 1 kg per 2-3 days. The weight loss started to slow down when I hit 109kg. It took a month from 109kg to where I am now at 107kg. Why do you think this happen? I don't exercise but I didn't from the beginning. I have trouble starting exercise from extreme exhaustion. The only reason I learned about this is because I have an orphaned duck I’m taken care of and apparently Ducks need a certain amount of niacin and this is where I am getting it from. So if anyone adopt a duck please remember they need niacin and a lot of other things so dear googling due diligence thank you love, ducks.
I get vivid dreams from time to time. But, for me they seem to occur when I'm either sleeping on my hand or arm and am getting some numbness, or if my head especially, is overheating (sometimes I sleep with a winter hat on). I think the vivid dream is a defense mechanism which wakes me up and prevents any damage that could occur from lack of blood flow or overheating.
Vivid dreams is a sign of lack B vitamin? Would love to hear more about that.

Me, too. I've always read that when you START taking B-vitamins, a temporary cool side effect (just at the start, as your body adapts) is having vivid, memorable dreams, so . . . ?
Darn :( My nutritional yeast was from Trader Joe's but it has B12. I was wondering why I wasn't feeling so peppy after I consumed it, my axiety wasn't really reduced, and my urine was bright yellow. I eat keto and after hearing so many good things about nutritional yeast, I thought I’d give it a go. Got some a few days ago and added about a teaspoon to my avocado at meal time. I’m a coeliac and have been having intense stomach pain since starting (such as I would after eating grains), and couldn’t figure out what was going on. The only thing I’ve changed in my diet is the yeast ... I assumed it was safe because it’s inactive, and recommended by doctors I respect, such as Dr Berg and Dr Mercola

Yes, I quit after three days because I was just getting too sick (and painful). How are you doing with the Sari brand? I haven’t seen that one here in Australia but if it’s safe to eat, I might try and source it 👍
Hi Dr Berg I love your videos. I have a fast small intestine, so I don't absorb vitamins well. I have found benefits to taking vitamin supplements. Yeast could be a good way to supplement the spectrum of B vitamins. Also ACV cured my gout, but it takes a few weeks to become effective. Vitamin B12 appears to cause gout outbreaks in my weary leg joints. : )
@@VickiTakacs. look into one called Vitam-R. I get it from my local co-op. It's all natural B vitamins, no added synthetic, plus if you have a wheat sensitivity, it works because its derived from sugarcane. Works well for me :)
Brewer's and Nutritional yeast has no Vitamin B12 in it so many manufacturers fortify their product with it. If the product says "cyanocobalamin" it's synthetic B12, but if it says "methylcobalamin" it's natural.
Non fortified is best. The reason is that we have no idea about the quality or source of the synthetic vitamins added to fortified nutritional yeast. The package may not actually say “Non fortified”. You’ll have to check the ingredients. Non fortified will just say yeast.

I find that as long as I keep hydrated and stay away from meats here in the USA I am OK... Interestingly if I travel to Portugal it seems I can eat everything and NO problems! I just purchased a couple of bags of nutritional yeast to try to boost my vitamin intake. I am on keto. I tried it as soon as I received it and a short time later realized that there was an issue for me. I got the serious "cotton mouth". The same as I get with MSG products. I sat down and did some research and found that Nutritional yeast is a glutamate. MSG and I don't get along. Various symptoms, such as inability to sleep. I then remembered that autolyzed yeast is a term they use to avoid listing msg as an ingredient. Could you speak to that point? I could have avoided spending money on something that I can't tolerate.
I bought brewer's yeast. It taste bad but I don't care about it. What I'm worried is that it foams a lot and that as far as I know is bad for nutrient absorption.

Hello, so as a kid I had chronic eczema they put me on steroids, creams it all worked until I stopped taking it, a friend of my mothers read in a book somewhere to try brewers yeast so we did OMG the worst tasting stuff ever but like after three months my eczema was totally gone for many years but lately as I’m much older now I’m dealing with it a little bit not like I was as a young child. I purchased brewers yeast 1000mg tablets on Amazon and I was wondering i used to take it in the flake form two tablespoons 3 times a day and I don’t mean measuring tablespoons so if I was to take the tablets I was just wondering what the equivalent would be to that not sure if you can help me or not but if so that would be great thank you for your time. I had to quit this on Keto plan cuz it cost me 5 gr Carbs. & they didn't have dietary fiber! my system is so resistant to lose weight I have to be at 20 gr or less carbs with only 1500 cal per day AND Intermittent Fasting! LAST 8 lbs to go and its taken 9 YRS to lose this 100 lbs!
Gosh, I have had vivid bad dreams for years, so I got some and I can't stop eating it. It is like I can't get enough. I have always had problems with b vitamins and I sure hope this is the answer.

My late breakfast consist of 2Tsp brewers yeast 2Tsp ground flaxseeds ,2Tsp desiccated coconuts 2Tsp wheat bran one finely chopped onion ,4cloveschoped of garlic ,1apple or pears, 1Tsp apple cider vinegar 1tsp cinnamon ,1tsp ginger powder 2-3 Tsp natural yogurt ,1tsp Vitanin-C ,1Tsp lecithin 1 cup of bilberry leaves tea . My sugar levels under 5 cholesterol 5.6, hbp roughly 120-5 to 75-80

Nutritional yeast does not have chromium. So it does not help with lot of issues like diabetes! Take Brewers yeast instead

Me, too. I've always read that when you START taking B-vitamins, a temporary cool side effect (just at the start, as your body adapts) is having vivid, memorable dreams, so . . . ?

Darn :( My nutritional yeast was from Trader Joe's but it has B12. I was wondering why I wasn't feeling so peppy after I consumed it, my axiety wasn't really reduced, and my urine was bright yellow. I had a feeling after noticing that, but decided to finish it up. Thanks for the confirmation Dr. Berg!

I eat keto and after hearing so many good things about nutritional yeast, I thought I’d give it a go. Got some a few days ago and added about a teaspoon to my avocado at meal time. I’m a coeliac and have been having intense stomach pain since starting (such as I would after eating grains), and couldn’t figure out what was going on. The only thing I’ve changed in my diet is the yeast ... I assumed it was safe because it’s inactive, and recommended by doctors I respect, such as Dr Berg and Dr Mercola

Yes, I quit after three days because I was just getting too sick (and painful). How are you doing with the Sari brand? I haven’t seen that one here in Australia but if it’s safe to eat, I might try and source it 👍

Hi Dr Berg I love your videos. I have a fast small intestine, so I don't absorb vitamins well. I have found benefits to taking vitamin supplements. Yeast could be a good way to supplement the spectrum of B vitamins. Also ACV cured my gout, but it takes a few weeks to become effective. Vitamin B12 appears to cause gout outbreaks in my weary leg joints. : )
I think I have gout. How much acv do you take? Have you found a nutritional yeast with no added B12?
@@VickiTakacs. look into one called Vitam-R. I get it from my local co-op.
It's all natural B vitamins, no added synthetic, plus if you have a wheat sensitivity, it works because its derived from sugarcane. Works well for me :)

Your non-fortified yeast tablets are fortified with Vitamin B12. Please explain. Thank you for your excellent information.
Brewer's and Nutritional yeast has no Vitamin B12 in it so many manufacturers fortify their product with it.
If the product says "cyanocobalamin" it's synthetic B12, but if it says "methylcobalamin" it's natural.

Dr. Eric Berg I use Brewers Yeast and it says it has vitamin C in it. Is the vitamin C natural in the Brewers Yeast or synthetic?

Non fortified is best. The reason is that we have no idea about the quality or source of the synthetic vitamins added to fortified nutritional yeast.
The package may not actually say “Non fortified”. You’ll have to check the ingredients. Non fortified will just say yeast.

Question??? Thanks Dr. Berg. You indicated a teaspoon of nutritional yeast, but my container says 2 tablespoons for one serving. Am I using too much nutritional yeast? I have 2 tablespoons daily. I don't eat beef or chicken, but I eat eggs, and seafood, so I know my B12 is needed. I'm also on 12.5 mg of HCTZ since 1983. My only med. How can I ditch the drug without having a potassium overload?
Dr. Berg, thank you for all your great videos! I have been changing my diet to vegetarian/fishaterian due to having a couple of gout like attacks per year, usually 2 or 3 per year. I find that as long as I keep hydrated and stay away from meats here in the USA I am OK... Interestingly if I travel to Portugal it seems I can eat everything and NO problems! Anyway, I was wondering if you know of any problems with Nutritional Yeast and gout? Would it be bad for me? Thank you.

I just purchased a couple of bags of nutritional yeast to try to boost my vitamin intake. I am on keto. I tried it as soon as I received it and a short time later realized that there was an issue for me. I got the serious "cotton mouth". The same as I get with MSG products. I sat down and did some research and found that Nutritional yeast is a glutamate. MSG and I don't get along. Various symptoms, such as inability to sleep. I then remembered that autolyzed yeast is a term they use to avoid listing msg as an ingredient.
Could you speak to that point? I could have avoided spending money on something that I can't tolerate.

It can be added but not an artificial form of it, it just doesn't get used

I bought brewer's yeast. It taste bad but I don't care about it. What I'm worried is that it foams a lot and that as far as I know is bad for nutrient absorption.

Why is it impossible to find nutritional yeast capsules not tablets? Can’t stand the smell or taste of your nutritional yeast. So now I am taking brewers yeast capsules.

How common is it to develop an allergy to nutritional yeast after taking 2 or 3 tablespoons a day for 4 months? I've now broken out in a red bright burning rash the last two times I've taken it. I really like it's benefits and wonder if this allergy will go away.

Hello, so as a kid I had chronic eczema they put me on steroids, creams it all worked until I stopped taking it, a friend of my mothers read in a book somewhere to try brewers yeast so we did OMG the worst tasting stuff ever but like after three months my eczema was totally gone for many years but lately as I’m much older now I’m dealing with it a little bit not like I was as a young child. I purchased brewers yeast 1000mg tablets on Amazon and I was wondering i used to take it in the flake form two tablespoons 3 times a day and I don’t mean measuring tablespoons so if I was to take the tablets I was just wondering what the equivalent would be to that not sure if you can help me or not but if so that would be great thank you for your time. I had to quit this on Keto plan cuz it cost me 5 gr Carbs. & they didn't have dietary fiber! my system is so resistant to lose weight I have to be at 20 gr or less carbs with only 1500 cal per day AND Intermittent Fasting! LAST 8 lbs to go and its taken 9 YRS to lose this 100 lbs!

Gosh, I have had vivid bad dreams for years, so I got some and I can't stop eating it. It is like I can't get enough. I have always had problems with b vitamins and I sure hope this is the answer.
