Beautifully done dance, but it was definitely “toned down” for the sake of this show. I’m sure the real dance was way more, shall I say, “provocative!” 🥵
@@supercarlos03 Not necessarily. The dance looked very much like the Shiva Tandava wedding dance from India & that's about the same amount of clothing they wear for that dance, which is considered sensual.
I think the original dance could have been a lot more sensual than what was enacted here. The enactment had to be toned down, however, for general TV and media viewership.
I forced myself to watch it twice , but I don’t want to watch it again. I’m up to 10 or more rewatches of all episodes except the fourth season, they’re all at 3 except this episode. The episode had me an emotional roller coaster! disgusted by Herod, furious about the whole situation, a weeping mess about John, and feeling happy and peaceful when he sees the lamb. I’m usually a stoic person when it comes to my emotions, but that really got me, and it was an uncomfortable feeling but at the same time it felt good to let it out…
That means the actor did a magnificent job. If an actor plays the part of a villain and you don't get repulsed by the character, that actor isn't worth their salt.
What makes it so difficult for me is knowing that it is true. It really happened. Jonathan Roumie said his role as Jesus, is officially over as Season 5 comes to a close. But, there are still 2 Seasons left, so since the Chosen is really focused on Jesus "chosen" followers, I am thinking the last 2 seasons is about them. Jesus' I2 disciples all died as martyrs, except for John, to whom Jesus gave Mary, His mother to live on as John's Emma. If you recall, the very first episode in Season 1, John is sitting with Mary in what appears to be their home. John is writing the Gospel of John (himself) for public publication so everyone who reads it will be told the Story of Jesus Christ, the Messiah. John is the only disciple not to be martyred. In his latter days, he is exiled to an island called Patmos, where he finished his Gospel Story. Some Christians believe that John did not die, that he was raptured to God as was Enoch from the Old Testament. I just hope they do not show the deaths if all of them. I only know how 1 of them died. (Simon) Peter was crucified, hanging upside down. It was his request to die that way because he said he was not worthy to die the way Jesus did.
Salome was 16 years old when she gave the king/her uncle that dance (he was too having an affair with her mother) Jhon the Baptist didn't like that because it was a sin of course and he let them know that so the king put him in prison. The king was seduced by the girl (which is creepy) and after the dance he told her she can ask for anything she wants... she asked her mother and for revenge she told her to ask for John's head on a gold or silver tray. The king liked Jhon but he gave his word in from of everybody so he's ego was stronger than the likeness he had for Jhon so he sent someone to kill him while he was on a cell. They all where evil and bad people, their day will come and they will pay for what they did🙏
SPIRITUALLY SPEAKING: I AM very much aware that the daughter DANCING had more body movement but they did have an outfit that you could see through and that set the LUST message!!! Over all very well done if you understood the REAL reason for the DANCE!!! Peace…
Exactly! Luke 13:32 “Go tell that fox I will keep on driving out demons and healing people today and tomorrow, and on the third day I will reach my goal “ *in Herod and Herodias is the spirit of Jezebel, spiritual wickedness, perversion. So yes because herodias was a nasty vile woman , John spoke the truth so she used her own daughter against her father who was heavily intoxicated and only saw lust
Kudos to them for not making it sexual, because a lot of retellings of this Biblical story paint the young girl's dance for Herrod in that creepy context.
Actually it looked very much like a Shiva Tandava wedding dance from India, which always has sensual "overtones." It just doesn't read that way to the Western eye accustomed toward a different kind of raunch.
If that dance impressed him, imagine if these pole dancers or belly dancers of today were to go back in time. He would give them the entire kingdom. I guess they did not have acrobats back in those days and jesters probably came 1000 years later. It didn't take much to impress the king back then.
It was brilliant!! It was athletic and so well choreographed and perfectly executed (if you will).Much better than my fear it would a sensual pole dance lol

In my humble observation I found this dance scene more like a yoga-exercise demo compared to the 1961:King of Kings "the dance that killed John the Baptist" scene. In otherwords, the choreography in the 1961 version displayed a more somewhat realitic picture of the event that leading to the death of the baptizer.

I don't know how Dallas and the Team do it cuz some of Y'all are oooo, hurtful.
Wait a minute... If this dance caused someone's head at that time I'm imagining what 🇬🇭Azonto would have caused if it existed back then. Almost every scene in The Chosen has me digging into the historical context of the scriptures. For example, when I heard them use the name 'Lilith,' I had to find out why they chose that name for the character, which sent me down a rabbit hole. Now, I have to investigate this (snakelike) dance because I have a hunch that the team didn’t randomly select the choreography for this scene. God bless the production team. I love The Chosen. ♥️♥️
Salome's dance was about the promise of sinful sex, perdition, and wanton desire. Herodias was tired of John the Baptist's public denunciations of her adulterous relationship with the king and used her own daughter, knowing King Herod's lust for his stepdaughter. Salome's character was far from the dedication and hard work of a gymnast. In this sense, for me, both Brigid Bazle in "King of Kings" (1961) and Isabel Mestres in Jesus of Nazareth (1977) were truer to form because they captured the power of Salome's magnetic sexuality. I really expected "The Chosen" to deliver something eloquent, but it seems it preferred the politically correct performance. Honestly, as good as the dancer's effort was, Herod certainly wanted something hotter than an Olympic display of acrobatics.
The amount of people in this comment sedition complaining about things that don’t matter. We get it, you wish she was a literal stripper. That’s not the point of the dance or scene though. Take it to PH. The scene was amazing.
When there is revelry and drunkenness, there is no perspective! It’s just catering to one’s lowest state of humanity - lust and sensual pleasure. What kind of entertainment was available in that era is questionable. The Chosen has done its best for entertainment and visual sensation, the point is clear! 👍

Beautifully done scene, though it couldn't be as salacious as it was in reality. Of course, there was evil subterfuge underway. The dance of Salome is the most famous dance in history. Besides being recounted in the Bible, it has inspired paintings, plays, poetry, operas, films, and on and on.
Toning it down was best; we want The Chosen to always be family-safe viewing. The crucifixion - no matter how graphic - should be watched and explained to young ones as being the most important, love-motivated, and costly event in human history. I'm certain it'll also be thought out and handled as God leads.
This dance didnt merely exhibit sexual suggestion but was actually demonically inspired in its animal sensuality... exposed feet and arms only - but with a display of a powerful female physique and one that shows dominace over the older feble King... A masterpiece

From Herod's debauched non-verbal grunting in the beginning to Salome's paganisitic/serpentine (almost Kundalini) dance moves that quickly segued into breathtaking acrobatics to the (gulp) look on Herod's face when he realized what he had done 😦

Regardless of weather the dance is 'Perfectly Wrong' or not, the talented dance of Ash Kahn as Avner, is fabulously amazing! I personally was absolutely mesmerised by her performance. Ash Kahn as Avner encaptured me in her moment on screen 🕊
Did ya crack one off?
that dance was definitely demonic
Beautifully done dance, but it was definitely “toned down” for the sake of this show. I’m sure the real dance was way more, shall I say, “provocative!” 🥵
Please explain what this performance means. Does Harrod look at the girl dancing with lust?
@@britneyzzshadow1716yes and she was more than likely half naked 😮
@@supercarlos03 😮
I’ve never seen any particular evidence for this claim
@@supercarlos03 Not necessarily. The dance looked very much like the Shiva Tandava wedding dance from India & that's about the same amount of clothing they wear for that dance, which is considered sensual.

I like her serpentine movements, perfectly symbolizing the Satanic forces behind that dance.
Good catch! I noted that as well. It was very much like the Shiva Tandava dance which conjurs Kundalini (the serpent spirit).
@@kimartistNothing wrong with kundalini.
Watching his daughter dance like that and acting like that…..
That actor may have nailed it, but what a sleaze!!!
I think the original dance could have been a lot more sensual than what was enacted here. The enactment had to be toned down, however, for general TV and media viewership.
The only episode I didn't watch twice. I was disgusted by Herrod. However, John seeing the Lamb 🐑 and saying Thank You was quite moving. Shalom ✝️🕊️
I’m usually a stoic person when it comes to my emotions, but that really got me, and it was an uncomfortable feeling but at the same time it felt good to let it out…
@@edward2448 I’ve watched this episode twice as well but this scene just hits hard every time
That means the actor did a magnificent job.
@@FrankPCarpiagreed I cant wait to rewatch it so I can be disgusted mad and impressed again. Good stuff
As a dancer myself. I loved this dance. Omg. Great choreography and performed amazingly. ❤
Peace…
What
@@kimartistthat’s what I thought !
Great performance, but I like Dallas' version best. 😂

If that dance impressed him, imagine if these pole dancers or belly dancers of today were to go back in time. He would give them the entire kingdom. I guess they did not have acrobats back in those days and jesters probably came 1000 years later. It didn't take much to impress the king back then.
very very good. well made high quality production. I would make few adjustments to make the scene more convincing but it was still good.

"For many who are first will be last, and many who are last will be first."
The bloopers for this scene was good too 😁
In my humble observation I found this dance scene more like a yoga-exercise demo compared to the 1961:King of Kings "the dance that killed John the Baptist" scene. In otherwords, the choreography in the 1961 version displayed a more somewhat realitic picture of the event that leading to the death of the baptizer.
I thought it was a great decision artistically to use a dance that was impressive (very impressive!) and athletic, but not very alluring. There's a harshness there that I think fits the situation. Good job!

I just wanna say for all the complaints about a GYMNASTICS ROUTINE... what did yall want her twerking on a family show? I'm just saying... art is art period. That is why it is important to READ YOUR BIBLE. We see enough provocative dancing on TV and other places. Can we just enjoy the art and hold back on the disses? I don't know how Dallas and the Team do it cuz some of Y'all are oooo, hurtful.
Belíssima coreografia, Belíssima dança👏

The Come and See Foundation is in the process of creating subtitles in 600 languages for the series.
Chosen can give us all of the outtakes of this beautiful dance because the scene is too short!
I thought it was extremely realistic.
Amen and thank you
Wait a minute...
Specially with Dallas dancing behind the scene!
Ikr that was the best! 😝
"Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin."
May the lord almighty have mercy upon us
His mercy endures forever. May we always please the king.
Thats not the dance she was really doin FYI ‼️
So, John got his head cut off because of a gym floor routine? Wow...
😂😂
That was great! Bravo to the actress and dancer. This was wonderful.

Devil doing evil
The amount of people in this comment sedition complaining about things that don’t matter. We get it, you wish she was a literal stripper. That’s not the point of the dance or scene though. Take it to PH. The scene was amazing.
When there is revelry and drunkenness, there is no perspective! It’s just catering to one’s lowest state of humanity - lust and sensual pleasure. What kind of entertainment was available in that era is questionable. The Chosen has done its best for entertainment and visual sensation, the point is clear! 👍
Lust is a deadly evil, avoid temptation at all costs. Read the first few chapters of Proverbs for a greater idea. God bless all in tour struggles, with God we overcome.

I remember thinking Salome a pretty name and went by that name is Spanish class. And then realized why that is not a good name, and changed it to Santana from the soap opera, Santa Barbara.
I think I need to watch this series 😊
We think you're right. 😊
Except in the Bible, she is unnamed.
The opera Salome by Richard Strauss is one of my favorites.
I like how before John got beheaded he saw the light outside, and then a lamb
That man moved so gracefully
Toning it down was best; we want The Chosen to always be family-safe viewing. The crucifixion - no matter how graphic - should be watched and explained to young ones as being the most important, love-motivated, and costly event in human history. I'm certain it'll also be thought out and handled as God leads.
Herod died a painful death
The dance made and the scene made me feel tense and uneasy
This dance didnt merely exhibit sexual suggestion but was actually demonically inspired in its animal sensuality... exposed feet and arms only - but with a display of a powerful female physique and one that shows dominace over the older feble King...
A masterpiece
I am so glad they chose briar nollet for this role such a powerful dancer
Imam Hussain used to recite how they killed "Yahya" which you call "John the Baptist" and went back to doing their everyday activities as if nothing had ever happened. His story is similar to the story of John.
