did it transfer absolutelty all your photos, apps etc, even if they weren't all stored onto icloud? im out of icloud storage and im not sure if this still works since i dont think everything is on there, and im on an old phone so dont have the option for the ios15 unlimited storage feature he mentioned.

This is the video I needed to see! Haven’t upgraded my iPhone for a few years. Wanted to see if it was possible to have the same home screen arrangement transfer over with ease. This is beautiful. Lol I’m excited to receive my 13 pro max tomorrow!
Even if you use the iCloud restore method, the home screen would have been the same. If you see his video titled something like how to transfer data from old iPhone to iPhone 6, you’ll see that he use the iCloud message as this one wasn’t available at the time, and he had the same home screen layout when that was complete. The only difference was that the iPhone 5s that he was using had a smaller screen size obviously, then he would have had another area to put a few more icons.

I upgraded this week from an iPhone 12 Pro to an iPhone 13 Pro Max. This activation/transfer process went by much much MUCH more smoothly than last year when I upgraded to the iPhone 12 Pro. It was a nightmare last year that kept me up all night and it didn’t even transfer most of my stuff! 🤬 I went nuts for days afterwards transferring things and matching my old settings. I’m glad for this year’s big change I watched this video first. I was absolutely dreading the transfer process but this calmed my nerves and gave me good tips. I was so happy when the transfer was complete. The process was simpler, all my data transferred over, and I barely had to tweak anything afterwards. I was so relieved! 😊

The fact that he set the Face ID so fast talks he has lot of experience with iPhones When I tried to setup my iPhone face it it took me like 5 mins and my head was spinning 😀
very good. suggestions: 1. Update the old iphone to IOS 15 should be your first instruction. 2. It is helpful to be near your mac book for these instructions AND to connect the new phone to icloud if necessary. 3. make clear all the way through which is the old and which is the new iphone. 4. Also, make clear how to scan the pattern to start the process. In my case the pattern scan just didn't work so I pressed MANUAL; the instructions were clear. Glad I had my Macbook and cords close by. 5. Note that the new phone may want to update its version. 6. What about the sim card. You saidh 'anytime' but never got to it. This cover the transfer of everything across to the new phone; but, although briefly spoken to, it does not include transferring the SIM in the old phone to the new phone and in particular any additional steps required since carriers often times need things like the IMEA number, and other particulars. Thanks for this tutorial it was a great help, I transferred from my iPhone 8 to an 11 ( couldn’t afford a 13 ) but after following all your instructions every thing turned out great, had to reset WhatsApp an a couple of other apps but no problem, BTW I’m 70 and not tec savvy thanks again for this video 👍
Yeah, you have to verify your phone number again in WhatsApp, but all your messages and media should be there, as when you do the data transfer, as well as downloading the apps, it will then re-download the data from within those apps.
So, my comment is for those that aren’t techy but love the techy stuff. I just got my 13 pro max. I did the transfer from my 8 plus. I was apprehensive about it but I gotta tell ya, this was the easiest ever method for changing phones I have ever done. All my stuff, my apps, photo, notes, books etc etc transferred without a glitch. It only took minutes. And, everything opened right up without having to log back in. That is accept for google. I had to log back in to google. It helped watching this video to get familiarized. There was no narling or bashing of teeth lol.

I also prefer the same approach so that all the junk doesn’t get transferred and do you know if if we can set up a fresh and then transfer selectively only things that we want the important data?
Great review of the direct wireless transfer process. I used this method for the first time in years, to move from an iPhone 12 Pro to an iPhone 13 mini. One thing that cropped up, the new phone couldn’t be activated via cellular network, and so I got an early error about that. But, since my WiFi networks had already transferred over, it let me retry via WiFi, which worked. After that, the transfer proceeded smoothly, as described here.

@@patdevine2368 The transition was extremely easy! Don’t be concerned at all. I was a bit “resistant” to using Face ID….and just used my password….for a couple days. Finally, I bit the bullet and initiated Face ID and I LOVE it! Lots of luck!

Awesome, you answered my question (I think). Finally cracked my screen on my 1st gen iPhone SE a few weeks ago. Still works, could probably fix it, but... probably like yourself, I want to upgrade to another small iPhone, especially since the iPhone 13 mini might be the last small iPhone for a long time. Though... I noticed you said 8 years old. The iPhone SE (first gen) is only around 6 years old. I've only had mine a little over 4.

Moving from a 6 to a 13 Pro only because the firmware in the 6 won't allow the installation of many of the new apps. My 6 is as good as the day I bought it and I didn't want to switch. I hate designed obsolesce. Your video was awesome. I wasn't sure whether to move data from the old phone by using iTunes, iCloud or this method. I'll be keeping my inept fingers crossed and will be using this method. I just want to make sure I won't lose anything or the setup when I go from the 6 to the 13 Pro. Many thanks and thumbs up. The new phone finally arrives from Apple tomorrow and I want to get my ducks in a row. BTW, my wife still uses my perfectly good iPhone 4 to carry all her music with her when she goes for her walks. Hello, yeah, I’m sure she will. Keep in mind that your older phone might be on a newer iOS version than the new one. That’s fine though, as the new one might prompt you to do an update on it. That should be easy to do and shouldn’t take long depending on the Wi-Fi connection you are using. It will prompt you before it transfers the data.
I’m going from iPhone 7 to 14 it’s coming tomorrow and this seriously helped because I remember when I transferred data for someone else apple didn’t have this feature so it took ages luckily I watched a video first this time 😅

Aloha. I just switched over the weekend from iPhone X to iPhone mini13 and the transition and using this method is very seamless. Just a reminder the iPhone 13 mini also comes with the eSIM so it will also automatically transfer whatever you have on your iPhone X SIM card. I have 95GB out of 256GB on my iPhone X so it took around 30 minutes to transfer the entire phone data to iPhone 13 mini. I still use the Finder as my source of backup. So after a couple of days on using the iPhone 13 mini I backed it up on my Mac. It's time for me to switch since I have iPhone X for almost 6 years and IOS 16 is the last upgrade and Apple offered me a decent trade in, it' s no brainer for me. Thanks for this video.

@@vvennn It will force you to do so with each failed attempt. For some unknown reason, I had to do it 3 times before it worked correctly.

One thing that cropped up, the new phone couldn’t be activated via cellular network, and so I got an early error about that. But, since my WiFi networks had already transferred over, it let me retry via WiFi, which worked. After that, the transfer proceeded smoothly, as described here.

Was it very difficult to switch to Face ID from Touch ID? I’m concerned about learning the gesture compared to using the home button.
@@patdevine2368 The transition was extremely easy! Don’t be concerned at all. I was a bit “resistant” to using Face ID….and just used my password….for a couple days. Finally, I bit the bullet and initiated Face ID and I LOVE it! Lots of luck!

Awesome, you answered my question (I think). Finally cracked my screen on my 1st gen iPhone SE a few weeks ago. Still works, could probably fix it, but... probably like yourself, I want to upgrade to another small iPhone, especially since the iPhone 13 mini might be the last small iPhone for a long time.
Though... I noticed you said 8 years old. The iPhone SE (first gen) is only around 6 years old. I've only had mine a little over 4.
Great video, something wrong on my end though. Mine pops up with an error message whenever I try to transfer the data and then asks me to reset the iPhone. Any reasons for this happening?

This is a good way but since I have a better alternative for doing this, it's faster with ao mei m backup.

Great video as always. Do you advise doing the transfer to a new phone this way as opposed to restoring from an iCloud backup? As in, what would the advantage be of restoring from a iCloud backup as opposed to this?

Moving from a 6 to a 13 Pro only because the firmware in the 6 won't allow the installation of many of the new apps. My 6 is as good as the day I bought it and I didn't want to switch. I hate designed obsolesce. Your video was awesome. I wasn't sure whether to move data from the old phone by using iTunes, iCloud or this method. I'll be keeping my inept fingers crossed and will be using this method. I just want to make sure I won't lose anything or the setup when I go from the 6 to the 13 Pro. Many thanks and thumbs up. The new phone finally arrives from Apple tomorrow and I want to get my ducks in a row. BTW, my wife still uses my perfectly good iPhone 4 to carry all her music with her when she goes for her walks. Why buy another iPod? Cheers!
I’m on 14.7.1 on my 11 Pro. Should I update to iOS 15 first and then activate my 13 Pro? Or just do it now without updating my older iPhone?

Hello, yeah, I’m sure she will. Keep in mind that your older phone might be on a newer iOS version than the new one. That’s fine though, as the new one might prompt you to do an update on it. That should be easy to do and shouldn’t take long depending on the Wi-Fi connection you are using. It will prompt you before it transfers the data.
I prefer storing everything on my PC, just to be 100% sure nothing is deleted :D

nope this way is to slow, it took me 2h to transfer the data last time. m backup is faster.
It depends how much data you have, but it is the fastest way especially if you have a cable connecting both.

Aloha. I just switched over the weekend from iPhone X to iPhone mini13 and the transition and using this method is very seamless. Just a reminder the iPhone 13 mini also comes with the eSIM so it will also automatically transfer whatever you have on your iPhone X SIM card. I have 95GB out of 256GB on my iPhone X so it took around 30 minutes to transfer the entire phone data to iPhone 13 mini. I still use the Finder as my source of backup. So after a couple of days on using the iPhone 13 mini I backed it up on my Mac. It's time for me to switch since I have iPhone X for almost 6 years and IOS 16 is the last upgrade and Apple offered me a decent trade in, it' s no brainer for me. Thanks for this video.

When I purchased the 8 Plus it was simply too big. Using just one hand I can do just about everything on this perfect size iPhone for me which is now the Apple iPhone 12 Mini.
