Hey Dion! My phone is stuck on the preparing to transfer screen? Been hanging for almost an hour. Can you possibly help here? Im so lost, new iphone 15 pro max is updated to newest software and im still having this issue with using the direct phone to phone transfer option.
@@benedikalala6551 I’ll be real with you. When I first got the 14 I hated it and I wanted my xr back. First reason was that I had to go to my carrier and get an e-sim bc I bought it unlocked at the Apple Store and he told me that if I mess it up, I have to bring it back to the store. Second reason was because I had to reset the phone twice because I had forgotten to back up my XR first. But once I learned how to use the phone, I LOVED IT!! hope this helps

I never got the option to Transfer from iPhone at 3:59 Apple support couldn't answer why. I heard online that the new phone's ios must be updated, so I set it up temporarily, just to be able to update it. Then I reset the phone and started the setup again. Still didn't get the option to Transfer from iPhone.
I got my first iPhone a few years ago & just bought a replacement since the battery on the first one has downgraded & the charging port also needs servicing (or I’ll just sell it). Prior to this I’ve always had android phones & the process of transferring to a new phone was anxiety-inducing because something would ALWAYS go wrong- I would lose pictures, contacts, or data in the process, OR I’d end up talking to a customer service rep trying to get the new phone to recognize the new SIM card. Never fun. So I’ve been a little nervous about transferring everything over to my new iPhone but the process seems easy & straightforward enough. I’m definitely not going back to android as I’ve really gotten to enjoy iPhone, Apple iOS, & everything it has to offer. Thanks for the video!

And dont bother restarting it, it STILL wont work. In the end I had to manually install all the apps. But the photos and contacts werent a problem since I just airdropped them to my new iPhone. Im sorry I couldnt help 😞
I think before anything, you should warn users that the new phone iOS should be up to date and the sims need to in inserted too (if keeping your number that sim needs to go into the new phone)....I didnt have either of these when I started the transfer which made it somewhat difficult.

This helped me a lot, my screen is broken on the old iphone but I still managed to back up the phone just by following all this steps and pressing where the butons would be on my broken screen. thanks a lot dude.
Hi Maria, it does not really matter. I did it before, but either way works. There are many factors that determine the length of the transfer, from 30 minutes up to some hours

Question I am hoping someone can answer: I started a transfer of an iphone 6s to a used iphone x yesterday and it stalled out when the x asked for an ios update. Most things are set up but not all of my data is transferred. Should I a. resest the x and try again? b. do the transfer some other way? I am most interested in not losing past phone call logs and messages? The two phones are operating on slightly different ios systems, if that is a factor. Does setting it up this way rather than iCloud backup mean u don’t need to enter passwords again for apps and email etc etc. also will my watch need to be added to new phone or does that transfer too? Just got my yellow 14 today. My old phone is a 12.
This video was very helpful. Speaking a little fast for me but managed. It did not mention the possibility of a software update. I was transferring from an iPhone 6 to iPhone 10.

Also, you said it transfers all messages, does this include Whatsapp data (messages, photos, videos etc.) or do you need a separate backup within Whatsapp for that? Hi Alpher, sorry for the late reply. This should also work for the older models. If you have not enough space in your iCloud Apple will temporarily give you additional space, so all your data should be transferred.

Hi Bill, excellent question. I have no experience with this (live in UK). I would suggest to first carry over all the data and then see if you have issues with your e sim. If there are issues, contact your carrier. Sorry to be not more precise

Hi Nancy, sorry for the late reply. 1. The transfer does include the old phone number if you have an e sim, if not than you have to introduce the details in your new phone yourself. 2 I would use WIFI, because cellular can be expensive. If it does not work I am afraid you will have to contact Apple

The transfer took place without incident, thanks to your video instructions. I did notice, however, that there were 8 new apps that were not there before. A little soft-sell by Apple. 😊

1. Depends, sometimes you have to restart the process 2. Yes. 3. I mean that the screens are on and yes, you can leave them unattended, but I would stick around just in case

Thanks for your kind words. Ideally you should wait for the process to stop to avoid any unwanted disruption. Both options are possible; I should the phone one as I assume that most people will use this one

Hi Liv, to go from Iphone from Iphone takes a bit longer and both phones have to be close. With iCloud transformation this is not necessary and you can be more selective

Hi Nicky, good question. this is being done automatically when you start the erase proces. That is one reason why Apple requires your Apple ID and passport

I just upgraded my 13 Pro Max to the 16 Pro Max! I don't know what happened to my WhatsApp call history though, it all disappeared; yet everything else transferred from my 13 Pro Max's WhatsApp backup perfectly fine.
Question: After you do all of this in a transfer you physically swap the SIM cards to carry over your phone number (same provider)? I am going to trade in an older phone (8) and get a newer phone (15). BUT... at home I'm going to transfer my data from a 12 to the 15. THEN clear off the 12, transfer data from the 8 to the 12. Then wipe the 8. Transferring the number from the 12 to the 15 seems easy enough (eSIM). Then wiping the 12 to transfer data from the 8 to the 12 as per this video. After that, do I switch the physical SIM out of the 8 and put it in the 12? Then return the 8 to the provider, since they are giving me the trade-in value on the 8.

This video was very helpful. Speaking a little fast for me but managed. It did not mention the possibility of a software update. I was transferring from an iPhone 6 to iPhone 10.

Also, you said it transfers all messages, does this include Whatsapp data (messages, photos, videos etc.) or do you need a separate backup within Whatsapp for that? I have no backup in iCloud or Whatsapp because it's only 32 GB so I'm a little bit afraid that I might lose all the data when transferring Whatsapp.
Hi Alpher, sorry for the late reply. This should also work for the older models. If you have not enough space in your iCloud Apple will temporarily give you additional space, so all your data should be transferred.
@@DionMedia Thanks for the reply man! But what I meant was mainly for whatsapp, because that's not in iCloud right? Whatsapp makes the backup itself. But if you don't back up anything from the app, does it still transfer all your messages, photos etc. in the chats?

Hi Bill, excellent question. I have no experience with this (live in UK). I would suggest to first carry over all the data and then see if you have issues with your e sim. If there are issues, contact your carrier. Sorry to be not more precise

2. You mentioned you have to have the old phone on wifi. What if the old phone won't connect to my wifi? (One reason I need a new phone.)

Hi Nancy, sorry for the late reply. 1. The transfer does include the old phone number if you have an e sim, if not than you have to introduce the details in your new phone yourself. 2 I would use WIFI, because cellular can be expensive. If it does not work I am afraid you will have to contact Apple

Thanks for your kind words. Ideally you should wait for the process to stop to avoid any unwanted disruption. Both options are possible; I should the phone one as I assume that most people will use this one
The transfer process is always just a fun process when switching phones! Whatever is be ios or android

You can put the SIM in at the beginning of the process or at the end. This process will work for sure with the 13

That should be ok. And the 200GB ICloud storage is linked to your same Apple ID, so will be available as well.

Hi Liv, to go from Iphone from Iphone takes a bit longer and both phones have to be close. With iCloud transformation this is not necessary and you can be more selective

Great question. In your new phone you should open the watch symbol and then pair it to your watch. That should only take a few minutes

Question: After you do all of this in a transfer you physically swap the SIM cards to carry over your phone number (same provider)? I am going to trade in an older phone (8) and get a newer phone (15). BUT... at home I'm going to transfer my data from a 12 to the 15. THEN clear off the 12, transfer data from the 8 to the 12. Then wipe the 8. Transferring the number from the 12 to the 15 seems easy enough (eSIM). Then wiping the 12 to transfer data from the 8 to the 12 as per this video. After that, do I switch the physical SIM out of the 8 and put it in the 12? Then return the 8 to the provider, since they are giving me the trade-in value on the 8.
