      @@robertyoung9988 that's true actually. You'd have to probably do some mods to the bios or write a complex custom script, but I bet you could get a splitter for the fan headers on the motherboard and have some function that made it so when your CPU got within a degree or two of thermal throttling it would spin up that fan for 10 seconds or something. I'm not at all into PC building but I have been watching fanshowdown for the longest time. It's something everyone can find enjoyable whether or not they are into PC's and hardware. I just love the concept, the colours of your studio, the little fans on the wall in the background and the suspension when testing the designs. This show just has everything and you really perfected it over time. For example, I really appreciate that there's a little thumbnail of the fan during the smoke test because I never remember what fan design has what name. I'd even go as far as saying this show has cured some of my anxiety, or at least it has a very calming effect when I feel at unease. And the creativity people come up with is amazing to see as well. • @rallyfeind
      @rallyfeind 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you made it a closed cylinder and just made a chamber it would fail as above. I have a possible way but the balancing and build time would be understated at meticulous.
      Make 2 disks that have a peg type "cage" to hold the beans in the relative positions. Making the beans orient with the length of the bean in radial position would allow them to vibrate between the disk for the rattles. If you made some blades in the pattern between the cages you could get different rattles or better air channeling to make it more consistent.
      Also the chamber style with ridges on the inside of the spin would work but you would need like steel bearings and it would only work with the fan vertically oriented. And you better make it strong or it is a shrapnel thrower and bearing launcher..

    That mermaid fan reminds me of the system that I built back in the early 2000's it was built in one of the first computer cases that were made entirely out of clear acrylic the case was made by C3 designs ie clear computer case designs it had cutouts for 8 80mm case fans so I populated all of them and built it out using a gateway server board rocking 2 slot 1 pentium 3 1Ghz processors and 2Gb of DDR memory when powered up it sounded like a vacuum cleaner running. It was loud and proud with the cold cathode lighting that I had installed in it I had tubes on all the fans as well as a pair of 13 inch tubes one at the top of the case and one at the bottom so it would light up the room as well as sounding like a hoover running right beside you on the desk. It was a total YOLO moment and I was trying to showcase the system as a one of a kind build to show people how cool a computer could be back when all computers were just grey or beige boxes with no see through side panels.

    When the mermaid symphony sound test popped up, I couldn't help but let out a hearty laugh lmao
    I'm also curious how a fan with positive and negative pitch blade pairs would perform, like the turbulence but 1000x worse :D

    I would love to see a 3d printer collection overview/showdown. Pros and cons of each one, sample prints, approximate prices, good ones for beginners. Also as a seperate video, a beginner's guide to 3d printing could be cool. Love the videos btw.

    An interesting addition to your testing arsenal would be a digital tuner, and could be useful when weighting the performance score of fan: Whilst it has no direct impact on the aerodynamic performance of a fan, a fan emitting a higher pitch at 50db is going to be more annoying than one emitting a lower pitch of the same volume.

    Love these videos. It would be great to see how the fans perform enclosed. i.e. smoke goes into a perspex box, fan pulls it out.
