Yo will they ever put an update where we could actually play PS5 games on the extended storage instead of copying back to the ps5
@@ctm479 not externally. Only with an internal ssd- which is still in beta. Not fully released
(as far as ps5 games. ps4 will still work on external)
This is one of the things I dislike about the PS5.
Just found that out as well. Plus we can't have dynamic themes in ps5 as well which sucks as well.

Plus the fact they had to engineer these locks in place. Otherwise we COULD play games from the external drive. But they’d rather find a way to monetize the value.

@@techbymidas so basically if your ps5 games is stored on a hard drive you can only play them off the extended storage correct because the hd drive can not saved ps5 games it can only hold ps4 games.
It's better to move the games rather than copying because you're creating two copies of the same game (and DLC). One in the internal HDD and the other one in the external HDD which will just eat up your storage even faster. Copying and moving takes about the same amount of time so moving will always be better than copying. I guess the downside is not being able to do anything on the PS5 until the data is done moving. If you copy the game back to the internal PS5 storage, you will have to re-download all DLC again and it's almost as if the game is being downloaded again to your console rather than just copying the data. Sony sure loves making everything complicated with the PS5.

Another issue with the external hardrive that Sony messed up in recent system updates is that the console no longer recognizes the external hardrive as soon as you turn on the console. I'm someone who always leaves the external hardrive plugged in to my PS5 and before the updates my PS4 games were ready to go and ready to play. Now, I need to wait a few minutes before I can play them as the console is reading the external hardrive and I get the USB icon in the top middle screen.

I just recently finally git myself a ps5 because I was just so into my ps4 and wasn't really feeling the ps5. But I got one now and had to get a external hard drive and this video helped me alot thank you. I never needed any kinda hard drive for my ps4 as 1tb was enough for me. I'm still trying to figure my way through the ps5 though it's very confusing compared too the ps4 imo.

i don't want to copy the game itself i want to copy a games saved file (from "Saved Data and Game/App Settings") the ssd appears there for ps4 games but not ps5 games. is it because the ssd isn't fast enough or is it just something that isn't possible?

Hey, when you copy a ps5 game from your external hard drive, does it still actually stay in your hard drive because you copied it because I see the games on both storages.

I don't think drives will be able to handle it. If anything, it'll be very specific external SSDs. Otherwise, I think onboard expandable storage is going to be it.

To be honest with you, I've had times when I wish I had the disc and lots more times when I didn't really care. I might just end up getting a disc one as well for another room.

Question you know you're save data where you can check on you're saved games is to the right on that it says console storage 506.9 gb should I worry about that? Also I have 633.5 free useable space for games as well I'm just worried about the space for save games.

I just realized the point to copy games back is to keep them whenever you want to copy them back so it’s kinda useless in a way but I guess it still helps
Question, can you save all digital games and date of the games like dlcs and others saved things into the hard drive, if the the account was hacked or banned so you make a new account and won’t have to buy everything all over again

Do you have to copy EVERY time you want to play or do you just move it to the external drive, copy it, then you can play it whenever you want with most of the data being on the external drive
Once it's copied off the PS5, You need to copy it back onto the internal drive to play the game again.

@@xandermartinez4654 PS5 games are meant to take advantage of SSDs, not HDDs. So that's why you can't play PS5 games stored on external hard drives. It's unlikely that this will be something they 'fix'
