- The Smoking Tire joins the Ritte Cycling Team with the 2011 Bentley Mulsanne as a support vehicle. Host Matt Farah finds out where is the best place to be, the back seat of a Bentley or the Front?

@TerribleTimes like I say in the video, Bentley's 6 3/4 engine dates back to 1959, so it's not surprising that it uses some technologies that some people consider outdated.
Matt (or presumably Matt) I really enjoy the fact that TST actually responses to its TH-cam videos. Seriously, very cool in my book.

@sspope Back when I was in NY and I owned a detailing shop, I had two wealthy customers who both traded in their Continental Flying Spurs for the top of the line (at the time) Arnage Mulliner. I thought they were crazy, but their reasoning made perfect sense to them: "The Continental doesn't feel 'Bentley' enough."
If you have enough money to the point where it doesn't matter, authenticity is very important. And although it's slower, the Mulsanne definitely rides better than any of the contis

The headlights are pretty unique looking but I think it's the car color that makes them stand out so much at least on this car.

@chadandnat Disagree. The Maybach 62S is a nicer place to spend time, the back seat anyway, but up front, the Mulsanne is much more lively to drive. We do a head to head comparison with those two cars on an upcoming episode of The Car Show.

@TheSmokingTire I don't know, but when Motortrend tested the Continental 4 door(don't remember the exact model) against the new RR Ghost, the Continental won and they said it rode better. I've also seen many reviews criticising the Mulsanne for its firm ride and never heard of such complaints against the Continental. Plus, I compared their handling numbers on InsideLine and it's no contest.
Matt love all your videos and the car show, although I prefer the smoking tire. Out of curiosity, which 3 100k cars would you get?
@JustDriveThere It's mostly new, for emissions reasons, but not 100% new.
@Sigrafix The Phantom is way more pimpin and flashy, but for some people, it lacks the technology that a $400,000 car deserves, which I actually agree with. The Bentley splits the difference between the Phantom's "Style over everything" approach, and Maybach's "Private Jet" approach. It's also less expensive than both the Roller and Maybach 62, and in my opinion, drives better than either. But lets be honest, at this price point, it's all about the emotional reaction to the car anyway.

@Zyworski Seriously? The CTS looks similar (it doesn't) and that's your basis of comparison?
@sspope Comparing the Continental to the Ghost has nothing to do with how it rides compared to the Mulsanne. The Mulsanne rides excellent in the Comfort setting and firmly in the Sport setting. It's not as floaty as a Rolls Royce Phantom but it can easily out handle one. But of course a Continental will still handle better than the Mulsanne, it's half a ton lighter and has AWD. But handling at the limit isn't why people buy Bentleys, it's because they want to be pimpin.
@willy2madre I try to be driving every chance I get. We've had several chances to get cars in studio on TCS, (like the McLaren MP412C) and I've fully shot them down because if we're not driving it, what's the point in even showing it?

@z00h you missed my entire point. The Camaro is such a terrible car that driving one for a week gave me a legitimate back injury. The seating position is terrible and there is no headroom so my spine gets bent in all kinds of fucked up ways.
@jarjarlol constructive criticism would be actually offering up ways to make this particular video more interesting for you, not simply saying it's boring. In fact, that's decidedly non-constructive. Especially when the general consensus is that it's informative, entertaining, and a departure from standard-issue car reviews, which is what we find boring.
@TheSmokingTire Depends on what you mean by new, It's based on the RR L series, hence the push rods. Honestly they would have been better off re-jigging a Merlin.

In the UK Rolls = New money, Bentley = Old Money, and that goes way back. Northern Businessmen drive Rolls Royces, people who have a place in Mayfair drive, or get driven in a Bentley.

I love Tuned on the Drive Network, but I think Drive needs to utilize Matt Farah for other entertaining segments like this one.
I was lucky enough to ride in a black one, I'd live in one of these things. I enjoyed it better than an RR Ghost. Especially the screens in the headrests...

@cnashrun5 he is on a show a lot like Top Gear called "the car show" it is on SPEED. I actually enjoy this show more then the American Top Gear, but nothing can beat the magic of the UK version.
