The only way to truly test a car like the £220,000 Bentley Mulsanne is to tackle some serious miles in it so we decided a cross-country blast to France would be the only appropriate road test.
I'm glad Bentley didn't screw up with Mulsanne's design, like they did with Continental Flying Spur and its "brilliant" rear.
I just can't get enough of Arnage-Brooklands-Azure 'trio'. Let's wait for Mulsanne's coupé and convertible versions. No 4.0 TFSI, please!
I would also add that the engine is also British and is an evolution of the old V8 found in earlier Bentleys and Rolls Royce'. This car has a lot fewer VW components that people think, though without VW Bentley would not be where it is today.
@ADAMYESHOMO It's made in UK. That makes it British. But yes, Bentley is owned by the VW group. That doesn't make it German.
@rapandrnb Im not brittish but he said very clearly in the beginning that the Mulsanne was built from the ground up by Bentley.
It has a classic British design and is built in Britain by British people.
The entire British Royal family are German a mix of the following houses Saxe Coburg Gotha, Hesse or Battenberg Hanover.
It's an honor to drive the BENTLEY
This car has a lot fewer VW components that people think, though without VW Bentley would not be where it is today.
the camera men in top gear are geniuses.
yes the funding is german... but its designed and hand built in Britain. so ?
@rapandrnb Well, not actually. German money doesn't make it German. It was, unlike the Continental GT, totally developed on Britain, and doesn't have the underpinnings of any other VW Group car.
@IDannyxss This is the Speed version which has slightly improved. :)
The headlights!THE HEADLIGHTS!! It looks like the Phantoms dimwitted cousin...
except for the fact that its hand built in britain and doesnt have anything to do with Germany ... except for the money used for its development
that vintage bentley is fuckin awesome...
Mate, I own a Falcon and I love it. But to get one over a Bentley? No friggin way! The two are just not comparable other than the fact that they both have four wheels.
@rapandrnb Well the company may be owned by Germans, but this car is quintessentially British. British engine, style and above all badge make it a British product.
@cechchelsea09 i think both have cars are unique, rolls is also awesome too
@rapandrnb And that little fact eats at them a little every day.
Superb car...
Literally the only good Mulsanne review on TH-cam. Not even kidding, the others are crap.
I'd take a bentley over a RR. Mainly because RR is on every rappers music video.
4500RPM? That's ancient? I thought this car would murder a Ghost.
How come this Bentley Mulsanne looks different from when top gear tested it :P
No, actually. Just as Jaguar is owned by Tata (an Indian company) but manufactured in Great Britain, Bentley is owned by a German company but manufactured and very much designed by Brits. Same with Lamborghini being owned by Audi (VW), but maintaining its Italian heritage. How you got so many up-votes on such misinformation amazes me..
Proper car.
they're made in England and designed in England. just with VW money.
so much roadnoise! is there something wrong? i can barely hear the presenter
2.7 tonnes?
In the same way Holden is American? What cars do Australia make again? By your theory none.
@Gabert1k More likely a poor microphone
nice car!!
@rapandrnb Sure it's still a good 'people's car', or in German words...
Hi Matt
It kind of looks like that Mitsuoka knock off bentley
Well, there's one review where they compared this to the Continental and the Mulsanne handled like crap by comparison. Now, before you start blabling that "this car is not about handling", you should know that the very same Continental beat the Rolls Royce Ghost in noise levels, overall comfort and handling again of course. So apparently that old the Phaeton platform is still better. Just get the Continental, I'm done here.
i would pick Rolls Royce Phantom or ghost and they r better look then Bentley Mulsanne
Nice pants.
Rather a Rolls Royce Drophead Ex-Demo for £230,000 than this.
hmm, the Bentley's okay but Watson's a bit okayer
This and the Phantom, the Germans are rather good at being British.
I think nothin is better than british style combined with german solidty
redback spyder :D
yes because Parliament forbade Catholics from inheriting the crown in the Act of Settlement, so it passed on to the closest relative who was Protestant, hence the House of Hanover inheriting the throne.
"proud to be british"
very Ironic dont thou think ? considering the car is literally German...
hahahahahahaha sharp you are ;)
omg, Britain needs better roads.
It's weird looking at someone drive on the left side of the road. I've been to the United Kingdom and if you don't look both ways for traffic, you may get hit. Love the car though.
haha you mean the red one on top gear? didn't look as good as this with albanian dust on it hahaha :P
nothing is British nowadays.........:P
Its not britishhhhh its german:)
W would pick a Mercedes AMG (any) and a truckload of prostitues and a basket full of cocaine.
Monaro
