It might very well be possible outside the US, and I do completely understand the desire of the sentiment to come back together, but I don't see it happening any time soon when we're talking about ideas about fundamental things in life. 30 to 40 percent of the US population believe in demonstrably false things from their very premise upwards. We might be able to reach a point of cold civility someday, but that's about it. "Agreeing to disagree" can't, for someone like me, be used for something actually important to existence, society, or life itself. It makes me wonder why we must remain a single nation anymore, really. We might as well be two different species in relation to truly important things in life anymore.
