That was around the time software developers figured out how to squeeze a lot more graphical performance out of the hardware. Not unrelated to this is the fact that PS1 only supported 2d acceleration.

Look at how far we've come... my first game was in 1995, "Prince of Persia". I remember gaming in 2D, then moving to 3D, then seeing reflections was mind blowing, then being mind blown again when I could see 'fingers' on each player in EA Sports' FIFA, and then Half-Life 2 came along, Doom, Crysis of course... now we are in the era of reaching towards 'photo realism'. Look at 'Forza Horizon 4' - - each time I see a thumbnail of that game on YT, I find it hard to believe it is a game. Then UE5 Demo - - astonishing. In the next 10 years, Ray Tracing will bring us closer to life like visuals that we can no longer discern the difference (for a game aiming for realistic visuals and not artistic stylization game).

Imagine, most of us, will play on PS even on 50 years old and it won't be strange!! We grew up with Sony,and we will have something in common with our kids, grandkids😍... Is that something or is it something?! :)
I never got to play the PS1 nor the PS2 (my mom did), I wasn’t even born since then. But, I did play the PS3/360 generation and it was great (I played the 360 to be specific); I still warmly remember all of those beautiful moments with my family and friends, how fun it was to share those experiences with the people you loved, how you went to your friend’s house just to chill and play videogames, or just how you could lend your disc to your friend and play games immediately without them needing to install first. Ofc, I’m talking out of nostalgia, because gaming is still great regardless of what many people say, I mean, there were amazing games for both the PS4 and Xbox One, and, seeing this video of the PS evolution (and videogame evolution overall), makes me think that, after the PS5/XSX, the PS6/next Xbox will literally look like real life, I mean, the PS5/XSX already look like a fucking movie. Regardless, the PS3/360 gen will always be my favorite one because I was born in that generation, my mom’s favorite gen is the PS2/Xbox, and so on, so, it really depends on which you gen you were born, no one is better than the other, simply because each generation has its own “essence” (regardless of graphical improvements), and ofc, nostalgia also plays a big part. Note; BTW, everyone’s right, the biggest improvement seems to be from the PS1 to the PS2, it’s mind blowing. The PS3 was a noticeable change from the PS2, the PS4 was very noticeable from the PS3, and the PS5, like I said already, looks like a movie, so maybe this next gen will be the 2nd biggest improvement.
While all are graphical improvements, I feel the biggest leap was PS1 to PS2, simply for the polygon increase. I remember the days of the PS1. While great at the time, looking back all games look like a stop motion movie made of painted building blocks in the shape of humans/animals/etc.

I know some people like to diminish this but 4k hdr makes a huge difference especially on a oled display. that makes games look way better. that alone was a huge improvement for video games.

True that. Pc is better than console all day BUT we have to talk about the prices. The ps5 will be 500$ and it Will allow you to play 4k games with ray tracing on with high fps. While on PC, you will have to spend ~500$ only for an end tier GPU. The graphics are indeed better on PC but I feel like PS5 will be extremely worth it. (PC Gamer pov)

But if we talk about last gen is different story and even with the next gen ps5, yes you pay only 500$ but then you get paid online nearly no backwards compatibility, more expensive games (at least where I live are more expensive) and lets not forget that you will still need PC because the only thing the console can do is gaming unlike the PC that can do so much more. Still the PS5 is really cool and I'll probably get one.

Resident evil 4 that is alone far more better than most of ps3 titles. Great story line and unique characters. What a game . Never get bored by resident evil 4.
All that progression but MGS 1 is still one of the best games. You can make amazing graphics but remember the gameplay, story and art is the most important part.

True that. Pc is better than console all day BUT we have to talk about the prices. The ps5 will be 500$ and it Will allow you to play 4k games with ray tracing on with high fps. While on PC, you will have to spend ~500$ only for an end tier GPU. The graphics are indeed better on PC but I feel like PS5 will be extremely worth it. (PC Gamer pov)

But if we talk about last gen is different story and even with the next gen ps5, yes you pay only 500$ but then you get paid online nearly no backwards compatibility, more expensive games (at least where I live are more expensive) and lets not forget that you will still need PC because the only thing the console can do is gaming unlike the PC that can do so much more. Still the PS5 is really cool and I'll probably get one.

Tech demos are working in a very scripted and closed box environment. That shouldn't be a surprise to anyone except ignorant fanboys. There's a BIG difference between tech demos and finished games.
