There isn't much of a difference. I do it to keep everything in Solaris so I don't need to import anything. Once you are in a sop create it brings you into an obj context. It really isn't any different than working in the obj context as far as workflow goes. Just eliminates some steps that are redundant.
Yeah Houdini wasn't built for modeling initially so it's definitely missing some things that are normal in other applications. Houdini is trying to catch up some in that regard.
that's good, a set of tools in one node. as a simulation nerd I think Houdini is not perfect for modeling. our team mostly use Maya and zBrush for modeling
Thnaks for the video, short and informative, keep going
Is there a benefit to modeling in Solaris in Sop Creates over in Build in OBJs? Should I model everything in Solaris sop creates?

@@InsideTheMindSpace that makes sense. Thanks!
It is very useful, different to (bend).
I like it, thank you : )
I am surprised to see this tool released now; in Maya, I remember it being available for at least 6 years.

Houdini definitely isn't perfect for traditional style modeling. It has some work to do but is definitely a capable modeling software as well
