  • Houdini 20 brings a new ripple solver that is extremely fast and fun to use. This video goes over how to create a water ripple effect as if it was raining.

Of course. It's very fast. I was surprised at just how quickly it runs

Nice and concise explanation, thank you!
Side note, tweaking the substeps probably didn't make a difference in this case because the pop sim doesn't calculate subframes by default. Easy thing to overlook of course, just wanted to mention mainly for any beginners that might be wondering.

Thank you for the wonderful lesson. My question is: Can we replace the shape of the circular ripples at the time of collision with any shape we want, for example, with a square or a specific logo?

That is a great question. I'm really not sure. Perhaps with the attributes you could make that happen but I'm really not sure

Thanks for the wonderful tutorial once again. But may I ask you a question? Why, in the recent tutorials, IE from all the Houdini 20 tutorials you began to do everything in the stage context, rather than in the geo context. Just wondering, thanks.

I do that because I am rendering everything in Karma for now at least and it just saves some time rather than bringing everything into Solaris from the geo context. Once you are in a sop create its basically a geo context.

@@InsideTheMindSpace thanks, I was thinking about that, but I had to reassure.
