Phil, my friend, I missed a few weeks in the hospital. Now I'll have the fun of catching up. Yee haw!!! I wish I were local so I could outbid whoever gets this beautiful piece and make it mine!!
Glad you are doing better! 😊
The more natural and "ugly" the look, its by far my favorite. Nothing bets the beauty and imperfection of nature.
Agree, Jareth, thanks! 😊
No Phil, thank YOU
Hi Phil, Dan here. Really love this one. Enjoy watching.
Glad you enjoyed it, Dan, thanks for watching! 😊
That bowl is chock full, loaded with character!!!
😊
I look forward to Fridays here in the UK as another episode in the turning life of Phil Anderson will drop on my virtual doormat. What can I say, another piece of embellished nature.
Thanks for watching and commenting! 😊
Just lovely Phil. A great gift for the school auction. Scottish cold has turned to prolonged rain so the workshop is the only place to be. Take care.
It's a good place to be too, Kevin! 😊

Thank you, Albert! 😊
Good evening, Phil.
You get my attention when you said, Apple. I love Apple wood but all too often it cracks. Much nicer when it does not. Great bowl and a wonderful donation. Thanks for the video.
No cracks makes it even rarer, Ray! 😊
Well the figure in that bowl alone was worth the effort! You also ended up with a beautiful shape to boot!! Nice one 😊. I have an old pear tree that has to come down next spring. It never grew very big, but I’m hoping I can get a few turnings from it. Very nice that you’re donating that bowl. We have a fundraiser coming up that I’ve been asked to donate something for a silent auction. Cheers, Rick
Fell that pear tree in the winter when the moisture content is lowest! Pear cracks a lot as it seasons if it's full of moisture, as it will be in the spring and summer.
Cool, thanks, Rick! 😊
@@calmwoodcreations3709 thanks! I hadn’t thought of that. I’ll try to get it down this winter. I guess late winter is best?
@@54lespaul77 Mid-December through February is good. If the weather cooperates, good time.
@@calmwoodcreations3709 thanks again !😀

Thank You Phil, Thank You Dave from Calmwood Creations.... Apple wood turning in the Apple season...Another very enjoyable turning today . I like all of differentness of the contrusions 😅... Looks like very hard wood... I see a demon on the inside with a long black tongue with that crack.. Until next time TM
(don't say anything to anyone else, but you really oughta see the tree's rootball! it's still sitting on the rack.)
@@calmwoodcreations3709 It'll be our secret, Dave.
Bill
I saw the same demon, can't believe I didn't mention it! Thanks, Tuffy! 😊

Cool, thank you, Juan! 😊
Excellent workmanship. Who ever gets this at the auction will be lucky.
Thank you, Phyllis! 😊
I love the weird ones the best, and this one had a lot going on in it. You are sure right about apple, it can have all of the good stuff inside, or nothing much at all. I knew it was hard when I saw all the dust coming off it. Good one, Phil!
Thanks, William! 😊
A lovely piece Phil, thank you. Graham UK
Thanks for watching, Graham! 😊
Love how my apple pieces turn out!! ❤
😊
It’s a beauty! Nicely done.
Thank you! 😄
Beautiful bowl Phil!!!! Thanks so much.
You bet! Thanks for watching, Doug! 😊
Would look fabulous with some shiny red apples in it!! Glad you are feeling better!!
10/19/23
It would! 😊
Thank you, Phil, for showing us all the beauty in a pruning off-cut! Well, not pruning, exactly. My bro-in-law had to make room for his new shop, so several yard trees had to be removed and he gave me what I wanted. Now, thanks to your video, I have a much better idea how to turn the other piece like it.
Excellent turning and a gorgeous bowl!
Thanks again Dave, really appreciate you giving these guys the ammo! You say you keep some of the best bits for yourself? Id love to see some of the stuff you make too!
@@PBUCKY1969 I've tried multiple times to do videos and found that being in front of the camera is horribly distracting. When my concentration is divided the project fails, every time.
Thanks again, Dave! It turned out really good! 😊
Very pretty ❤️ it's a nice wood! Like light wood,,,best!
Thank you! 😊
Another unique bowl Phil.
😊
Absolutely Beautiful!
Thank you so much! 😊
Beautiful! Love it! I bet it raises a lot of money for the school!
I hope so, Mike! 😊
Lovely bowl Phil, apple can be beautiful and this one certainly does this! Should be a very good bowl for a donation, well done and thanks!

Another beautiful job, Phil. The thing about apple is that it will surprise you within itself. There's always a prize awaiting. And you always find that prize. Thanks
😊
Apple bowl for the teacher 😂? You rarely fail to bring out the natural beauty of the wood. Thank you again for another wonderful video. Be well.

Thanks for stopping by! 😊
Another beauty Phil.
I have turned a couple of pieces of Apple and they didn't disappoint either.
I'm sure this will raise a huge amount of money for the Choir.
Great video as ever Phil and a great way to start my Sunday morning and of course a cup of tea.
Take care my friend.
Cheers, Huw
Fingers crossed, Huw! Thanks, buddy! 😊
🙋♂️🏴 Hi Phil a really fantastic bowl l love the shape / grain and the inclusions. And it's a brilliant gesture donating it to your local school.
Thank you, John! 😊
HI Phil u r a master at the natural edge bowls tuning.
Thank you, Manjit! 😊
Great little bowl Phil! Love it.
😊
Another beauty Phil
Thanks, Sue! 😊
Once again, a wonderful result. So many of your videos (but, I’ll admit, not all - everyone’s tastes differ after all) I’ve turned to my wife and said “I could give that house room” - I don’t need to say it any more, she just takes it as read. That piece makes me wish I lived down the road from you so I could bid on it, but I’m several thousand miles down the road in England, so I’ll have to be content with watching the transformation and seeing the resulting beauty that Nature and you have wrought together.
Thank you, Ian! 😊
I honestly don't know that I've seen another piece of apple with as much character. Excellent job!
I haven't either! 😊
Another awesome piece!😊
😊
Stunning Phil!
😊
Stunningly beautiful Phil! I agree with your philosophy ❤️
Thank you, Marilyn! 😊
Phil that turned out really fantastic and some nice figure as well
😊
Apple is probably my favorite wood! I gave three nice "burley" chunks to a wood carver/turner under a verbal deal that I would pay him for his time. I wanted 1 bowl and the other two could be his choice. I asked that he get them back to me by Xmas. That was Sept., 6 or 7 years ago. Artists... 🤣
Haha, he must have liked them, too! Dang it! 😊
@@PhilAndersonShadyAcresWoodshop I still talk to him and see him at events every now and then. He moved on from small desktop-sized carvings to 10' tall, 5' wide "stumps" and high end luxury ski country fireplace mantels. The funny thing is, one day, he'll probably ACTUALLY show up at my house with some carvings.
It's a bowl when it's spinning, a work of art when it stops. It should bring a good amount for the fundraiser. Beautiful! Thank you, Phil and Dave, for your generosity. 😊
You are so welcome! 😊
Wow, what a beauty, 👏 love it!
😊
Nice work Phil, apple is one of my favorite woods to work with.
😊
It seemed to say, “OK, I’m on the tougher side, but I wanna be a bowl, I think I’d be great at it.” And it is.
LOL! I'm sure I heard it say that! 😊
You sure know how to get a great shine. Lovely piece. Lets hope it raises lots of funds.
Thanks, Chris, me too! 😊
So beautiful, you capture the true beauty of the wood, glad you don't use resin. Wonderful ability to see something worthy in what others regard as firewood.
Thank you so much! 😊
Turned out gorgeous
Thanks, Lynda! 😊
Very nice Phil best piece of apple I’ve seen great job
Me too, Jeff, thanks! 😊
Another stunner!
Thanks, Danella! 😊
