  • This is the incredible story of a small hidden Mayan village in the Guatemalan highlands that transformed a monoculture plantation into a diversified agricultural system that supports the original families that worked the plantation and their descendents. This unique example of regenerative community works with nature to create abundance with the river and natural resources that flow through the land

This is how we should live like. Helping each other in hardworking communities. No running against the clock, no greedy overconsumption, fresh air and water, real food ❤

Thanks for this video. You do a great job with the story, and I hope you will revisit the subject and tell more of the individual families and what they are doing and how they see the community. The guy you interviewed was a really good advocate for them. I love his passion.

Such an inspirational story, place and people. I would love to learn much more about it. I would definitely watch at much longer movie on the place, how long ago the bank gave the land to the people, how they organised so well and co-operate, how it developed from the early days until now etc

Thank you for this very interesting story. Perhaps this community can consider offering very select ecotoursim opportunities. This would help raise funds which can be put aside for eventually creating some garbage and sanitation infrastructure.

This is a wonderful highlight of a community getting together to improve their lives. If it has not already mentioned in the comments, the Korean natural farming JADAM would be helpful in avoiding harmful pesticides.

I have been to Quixaya. I did see some people using chemical sprayers, but not much. It is a beautiful and amazing place. I do hope for their success. If they succeed there are many other similar areas in this mid elevation area that could do the same thing. Really appreciated spending time there with the locals and sampling the food.

This is wonderful! This is not new. People has been doing this all over the world forever. Is in the western world were this type of economies died, for many reasons. A lot of these people are humble, hard-working, Religious, family oriented, they live poor to our standards but rich in many other things. Not to many years ago Rural Mexico was like that until the government took their water or land by force, so many of them moved to the cities or usa to work in the fields or factories. The Mexican Revolution started because of the usa Imperialism & The Mexican government. Many people want better things but they aren't willing to give up their comforts & their egos.Don't expect anything from any government, If you want a positive change start with YOURSELF!
