  • Bluetti (Poweroak in the UK) have kindly gifted us their EB70 model with SP120 solar panel. Perfect timing as our generator isn’t working, so we were able to test which of our tools we’d be able to use with the 1000w power bank. Iwans happy as he gets colder beer from our cool box, and Carissa is chuffed that she can more peacefully water the garden.

    A little of our story:
Carissa, Iwan & Frankie decided one night over a bottle of wine that moving from North Wales to Portugal would be a good idea. Within a month they were on the road to Portugal to find the perfect piece of land to call their new home. We picked up Albi the cat along the way. Subscribe to follow our journey as we turn an old stone barn into our home, and learn the ropes of looking after a piece of land to make an abundant garden and one day, our very own winery.

Oh Sweetie, You've probably heard the comments about helmets and eye protection, but I'm going to add another one. Please tie up your long hair before using any power equipment. I was using a hand electric kitchen mixer at about age 14 to do a cake mix, and while leaning over, it caught up my hair and pulled tight to my scalp in seconds. I laughed about it but when I got to machine shop class a year later (first class of girls allowed to take metal shop, 1972) I took the cautions about safety very seriously, and have put up my hair every time I get out a power tool since. I enjoy your channel very much. Be safe.

Wow a whole trunk of tea! I did like watching all the other channels where everybody is working hard and building stuff but I do prefer the pace of yours; tea drinking, listening out for birds, waiting for old wood to dry, cycling back at dusk ❤

We have had a absolute awful week and sat down to watch your latest video, now, can I just say that we were brought up not to laugh at other peoples calamities, however, we just wanted to thank you for the greatest laugh with tears when Carissa took down the whole work bench whilst planing the wood ready for the spice rack, It lifted out spirits immensely, so thank you, thank you. Spice rack looks great, well done!! Super video, xx

I’m so pleased you’re happy with the kitchen. It’s very, very special what you’ve created. I just picked up same tiles for my covered outdoor floor, so I heartily agree with your choice…they’re beautiful and historically complements your white walls. I suspect you’ll spend many years enjoying the transformation, sipping tea. It was a busy week for you and the camera. I especially appreciated your time resting in the orchard listening for the birds. With the busyness of homesteader youtubers, I think it’s important for people to see the necessity of doing nothing. Homesteading is hardwork, this shot reminds us all of the rewards of a slower, more quiet existence. With the bossa nova music I was transported to your farm while you cycled home with the setting sun. I wondered if your evening fields smell like mine. I pretended they did. Thank you for transporting us every week to your magical place. You both look well rested - I think once a week videos agree with you. K

Nice Strimming and beautiful shelf. NM. USA is also experiencing extreme draught and we are surrounded by fires. Systems are set up on "Ready" "Set", "Go" for evacuations. Carson National Forest where my land is ..is closed. No camping or 4 wheelers... Tourists not allowed. Generators and chainsaws are not allowed. I am at my daughter's on the Mesa currently. Yesterday we heard of a fire that started about 40 MI from us. 60 acres and this morning was at 500 acres. We are still at just a "Watch" alert. A fire in the forest 50 mi east of us. .. They drop water on.. Last week communication was "off" and they dropped on our Firechasers😪

I love the new/old shelf made from old wood and not costing anything. When I rebuilt our house back in thr late 80's a Spruce 2x4x8 cost .89c. Now they are getting $8. apiece !!! Hence reusing wood has become absolutely essential, especially when done so artistically !!
Regarding the fire hazard...I was watching another 'off gridder'and he was rushing to strim his olive orchard before the fire came closer. The problem I see with this is that fallen and super dried grasses are probably going to be more flammable than standing, especially if not raked up. Though a wind driven blaze is going to have it's way, sadly. No fun.
Your kitchen is looking awesome...love the vibe. I would suggest a smoke and grease extractor...all my stuff got covered in grease.

Wow, excellent video loaded with great content, j'adore ça! ❤ Frankie leading Frankie Off Grid (with Albi!). Loved how you just got on with realizing the spice rack you saw in your mind. So clever and resourceful of you to use so much of the old barn door.. it turned out beautiful and pops off your breeze block wall the way you styled it. The furbies conked out on the couch makes me smile every time. Albi so adores being everywhere with you, Carissa. Your lunch and the Bluetti were awesome. Appreciate your walk-thru and demo of what that powerbank can do. That Gyoguru is beautiful when water is added, it moves like something magical in Harry Potter world. Your shot looking up into the cork oak canopy was stunning. Ewan's wines look beautiful. He certainly means business when he strims! The nee ventilation in/outlets should do the trick. Frankie clearly was having fun running along your bike ride, and i'm glad you bundled her up for the rest of the ride home, bless her. Gorgeous sunset vistas.

Love the spice rack, the weather worn wood is beautiful, and you white painted stone shelving unit idea I may pinch for my bbq area in my garden.
Little tip when countersinking, if you drill the hole first then us the countersink bit, it will be easier and quicker that way, also gonna look into the bluetti power bank.
