Sherry's Song

"Sherry's Song" is a lament composed by Joseph Baschnagel of Cambria, NY. Commissioned for Danne Farrell by request in April of 2024 for one of his piping students' mother. Sherry (the mother) developed cancer in 2023. The tune was composed in April of 2024 and was going to be performed for Sherry at one of the band's performances in late June. Unfortunately, Sherry succumbed to the cancer and passed away in mid June of 2024 before she had a chance to hear it. Danne instead, performed the tune for the first time in public at her funeral. Danne's requirements for the composition of the tune was something to the effect of sad, heartfelt, something that stirs the soul when you hear it. Joseph Baschnagel did just that when he composed the tune. In a week no less!! So, when you listen to the tune, I hope it stirs your soul, is heartfelt and tugs at your heartstrings. May the memory of Sherry live on whenever you hear this wonderful tune. May Sherry rest in peace.
