Great soloist! It could be the reverberation of the room, but the rhythm sounds disjointed. I see the conductor is conducting in 2 rather than 3, which for me makes it harder to feel the rhythm.
I completely understand where you're coming from with conducting in 2 instead of 3 when my high school choir learned this song we had to learn it first with our director conducting in 3 and then move to 2 because she was able to show dynamics more shit is hard
I think it's because the director is trying to conduct the piece in 2. It's supposed to be 6/8 + 3/4, which can be conducted in three as one giant measure (three half notes). She's trying to conduct the dotted half notes which isn't easy to feel. Plus, the shaker is playing on the dotted quarter note, which adds more of an unusual feel to an already complicated piece.
Not a good version in my opinion. The joropo is extremely fast and the use of the cuatro totally obscures the voices which are supposed to mimic the sound of the cuatro and the maracas. Choral Project has a better version
