Chapeau.
My mum said she cried when she listened to this she didn't know what the words meant but she could hear the emotion god bless my mum xx a Catholic daughter marrying a Protestant Irish mama god bless you in heaven xx
Given that this song is about a daughter tearfully asking her dear old father to let her marry a man he might not approve of, I think she may have understood the lyrics in her soul.
After hearing all those shrill pretenders butchering this song on AGT, you realize the massive chasm that separates her from all of them. She hits all those high notes so softly, with such control of volume and air flow, such purity of sound, it's simply astonishing that she makes notes far beyond most humans' registers seem so easily accessible.
That's because most of those AGT contestants aren't classically trained. They're passable choral sopranos at best, but any real opera performer can have them beat anyday. People are easily impressed these days.
The way she hits those high notes so softly gives me goosebumps because my ears are so unfamiliar with how those notes roll so smoothly without piercing your ears.
Simply sublime! This shows the greatness of Montserrat. What I most like about this performance besides perfect tempo and great interpretation is how unlike most of the sopranos that will hit that high note always forte, she makes it to a beautiful and tender pianissimo as I believe it is meant to be done.
Rare were sopranos to carry a vocal volume to pianissimo to volume. Zubrin Mehta was very taken by her controlled musical line. Her color and timbre just speaks of one bella voce...that is 'La Stupenda" Monserrat Caballe 🌹

We didn't even induct Queen in the music hall of fame for at least a decade following Freddie's death. If that doesn't tell you how corrupt our music standards/industry is, nothing will.... Blows my mind that Bohemian Rhapsody was the first rock song ever over 6 minutes long, commercially successful, had tons of air time, yet Beyonce, Kanye West, and other non worthy hacks have taken over 15 to 20 Grammys home? I smell intolerance for ones lifestyle choices rather than anything constructive. Says a lot about a band with a lead vocalist (with an almost 5 octave range) have a song over 6 minutes long make its way back to a top 10 music chart status because a stupid SNL spin off played it in a scene of a movie! All the while it was written by Freddie in the mid 1970's, and Freddie had fatally succumbed to an Aids related illness 2 to 3 years prior to the premier of Waynes World. "We are the Champions" "Another one Bites the Dust," and "We will Rock You" are widely used and recognized at sports events all over the world. I had to memorize Another One Bites the Dust on Clarinet for marching band in high school. Played it at every football game. "Gold digger, and Single Ladies" will not be a legacy.

Someone give this woman some roses and a magnum of champagne, that was hauntingly beautiful. Thank you for sharing this.
Her beautiful, so expressive facial gestures, her gorgeous outfit and the high notes. WHat a miracle she was!
I love her talent, her voice and her sense of humor. She was one of the greatest sopranos in all the history with Maria Callas.
Diego Perez Perea please listen to Renata Tibaldi?

The best singer who sings amazing "o mio babbino caro". I have listened may be one thousand times.❤
Those high notes, so effortless and pure, like sunlight on the dawn of a spring morning.
Perfect
I can't believe this is the first time I heard this woman.... Her voice is absolutely beautiful.
My eyes got watery all of a sudden...Such beauty cannot be described with words.
R.I.P montserrat Caballé voice of an angel. You will be missed

Hard to believe that a human being is capable of this kind of beautiful sound. Aren’t we lucky to hear this deep expression? And know that it will forever live in our hearts.
I'll forever thank Mr. Bean for introducing me to this masterpiece.

Yes, me too. I think I heard it on Shawshank Redemption too.
My grandma used to sing opera and she passed away in 2016. This reminds me of her so much
She brings tears to my eyes when she sings. It breaks my heart that I can't sing. She makes it look so effortless and this is how I imagine a goddess to be.
Don’t feel bad, she started working on her voice her entire life.
😘🙏🏼❤️
I am hoping many of us will be able to sing so beautifully when we get to heaven
Why can’t you sing?

If they had the technology back then and captured her (Victoria) true dynamics that may have won my heart! :) none the less it was beautiful enough to sweep me of my feet. Thank you for pointing her to me.
Yes, Irwin, her timbre is incredibly beautiful! I'm so happy you liked her. Good art must be spread and appreciated!!
I agree with Freddie Mercury, she is beautiful and also beautiful voice. Probably the best in our generation. Very stable and consistent.
Opera has some boundaries. With Freddie, I was able to break them.
- Monsterrat Caballe
Thanks Spade, perfect response to the imbecile comments about Freddie M. and M.
She has the most delicate soprano voice I have ever heard. I could listen to her all day. What a voice!!
The control! The voice caresses every fibre of your soul.
Love how she sails onto the stage like a stately battleship.
Excellent simile!

I love your comment! Beautiful and true!
Her voice is so comforting, I feel safe just listening to it. We’re all privileged to have the opportunity to listen to this ♥️
Tears streaming down my face. THIS is what we must preserve! God given beauty in song!
What a fabulous voice. Caballé floats those high notes effortlessly.
She seems as if she's not making an effort due to her fascinating technique. But she sure is....

Her voice to this song is like the stars to the night sky. Absolutely beautiful.
Brings me to tears. The high notes sound like her voice isn't even human. A God given gift.

The sweetness of her voice almost causes one's breath to stop to listen to her. Divine!

Chapeau.

My mum said she cried when she listened to this she didn't know what the words meant but she could hear the emotion god bless my mum xx a Catholic daughter marrying a Protestant Irish mama god bless you in heaven xx
Same with me now😥
Given that this song is about a daughter tearfully asking her dear old father to let her marry a man he might not approve of, I think she may have understood the lyrics in her soul.
Not only a beautiful voice deeply & emotionally that resonant with your soul. Bravo! Maria, & thank you kindly,
After hearing all those shrill pretenders butchering this song on AGT, you realize the massive chasm that separates her from all of them.
@@TwilightEpiphany Yes.
True.. So true.. The best Bambino Caro ever..by Monserrat..My favourite soprano..,,, ❤️
.
She’s awesome. And being a Brit, awesome is not a word I use lightly.
The way she hits those high notes so softly gives me goosebumps because my ears are so unfamiliar with how those notes roll so smoothly without piercing your ears.
She had the voice of an angel and the personality and professionalism of a true lady ..... RIP ❤️
The sound she produces is tremendous, I could hear this forever:
Besser nicht Ewig sonst ertrinke ich in Tränen...
Götter sind mit Bescheidenheit zu geniessen...
Божестаенная Монсеррат! Мы тебя любим! Вечная память!!!
Ты для нас живее всех живых.
Q.E.P.D Montserrat Caballé. Una voz privilegiada, incomparable.

Exactly, her voice is front and center. The orchestra is almost an apologetic afterthought. I wish I could have heard her sing live.
