Released spottily in late 2017, Jaina Solo was the figure I never asked for but immediately loved. I had no idea she was so popular in the Expanded Universe Legends canon. Check out my review of the last numbered figure to come out in 2017. A character that Disney has effectively erased from canon.

No offense whatsoever, but since you've mentioned you're colorblind on the channel, I thought I'd point out that the paint detailing on her lightsaber is actually purple. :)
I never take offense to having colors corrected! In fact, every time i get corrected, it helps! I also like to give people a little insight as to how colors look for me. Thanks!

It would have been so much cooler if jaina was the main character instead of rey in Disneys trilogy and she tried to get her brother ben back to the light

I don't really collect Black Series or Star Wars toys at all. Before this, I only owned The Mandalorian and The Child.
Well, I was out shopping with the wife and we stopped by one of the cool hobby and toy stores. I saw her on the shelf, never having seen or heard of her toy before, and couldn't resist the urge to make the purchase.
I came to TH-cam to see what other people thought and many seem to agree that she is one of the very best Black Series figures the line has ever made.

She flew with Rogue Squadron for awhile but she led Twin Suns Squadron During the later part of the YuzanVong war

Great review! I love the picture of how you have her posed laying down with her hand holding up her head and her legs crossed. I actually displayed mine in that pose and I made a little rack to hand her flight gear and helmet on that stands up next to her.

I had the same shelf placement dilemma. She hangs out on the 40th anniversary stand next to the height challenged pilot Luke with the X-Wing background.
yeah its a common issue! Darth Maul had a similar issue because he was the only prequel figure for a while. And even then, the only prequel figures released after him were clones and what not. So until Qui Gon came out, he was super lonely.
My old ass can't seem to let go of the old EU. I' mean...i didn't read it all...but a some of the comic shit I read I liked. The Dark Empire was one of my favorites and honestly thought that would have been a great adaption for the 7...8...9 episodes.
Its just my opinion. I know we're all different.
Dark Empire was great, but I'm glad they didnt just make an existing story live action. Then people would just be comparing it to the books and how much better or worse the books were. And the movie wouldn't be special. It would just be an adaptation of a book. Which isn't Star Wars to me. But I did like Dark Empire. And the Zahn trilogy. And the X-Wing books were fantastic.
i read them up to a point. when vonda mcintyre, i believe her name was, did a book that's when i gave it up, that was just pure garbage. i actually did something about it, though i'm loathe to mention it despite the statute of limitations probably being up....
anyhoo, i think i might have gotten one book into the storyline with the solo twins, but it didn't interest me. great figure, though! i saw it and knew, yeah, i want that. pretty cheap and easy to get now, don't think i gave $20 from one of the collector groups i'm on.
I remember the original solo kids....before the dark times...
before the (Disney) Empire.
May still be the best figure in the line to date

I love your reviews! I completely agree, I didn't care for a Jaina Solo figure when it won the fans choice but I'm so happy to have one now. Its a shame we can't get more legends into the black series, I think they make for some of the coolest figures.

I'm glad people voted Jaina and a well designed updated figure of her is available to purchase. I think it's important to acknowledge EU content especially fans who grew up and enjoyed it. Just because it's not "Cannon" it's like we aren't allowed to enjoying wanting to see these old characters again...clearly Jaina is a popular figure and Hasboro put a lot of thought designing her. I had a hard time finding her last year since she kept selling out but thankfully I found her on Amazon recently and ordered. I'd love to see more EU characters brought back I honestly am waiting for the day to get Mara Jade!
i completely agree. As i said in the video, at first I was pretty disappointed she won. But I came around. She's amazing. And I definitely want Hasbro to get some other great EU characters in plastic form.

Awesome vid! Great review on this fan voted figure. I was able to get 5 of these figures, YES 5! I got two at Target, one at Gamestop, one at F. Y. E. and the last one of all places.....Khols! I kept one and the others went off to friends who said she is impossible to find. Her head sculpt is incredible! Giving her that classic Han Solo smirk was GENIUS!
wow! 5! At first i was like "You scalping son of a bitch!" But then i read the rest of it. I did the same thing. I bought the only one I saw in the wild and sent it to my friend in Florida who was having trouble finding her. Great looking out!

Mike, I know it’s not related to this review specifically, but I’m excited to tell you I FOUND the Target 🎯 exclusive Chewbacca from SOLO today Friday 6/22/18. I had an adventure actually getting him. I’ve been stopping by this particular Target for weeks! I looked up the DCPI # and finally found a good customer service associate named Nick! He went into the “back room” and found where a Hasbro case of 6 of them had been on a pallet in the back room in the grocery-side of the storage room! I guess Chewy had spent some time in the cold Hoth-like regions of Target’s Dairy cooler! Just wanted you to know my adventure finally finding him.

Aw man! I love the Timothy Zahn series and felt he did a fantastic job. Yeah, that smirk on her face is fantastic and her articulation seems great. I hope I can find this figure someday. I swear man, sometimes it seems like my figures have a party when I'm not around. Excellent review man!

Good review! However, I don't agree that MOST of the expanded universe books are "bad", that's not fair. The "Rogue Squadron" books in particular by Micheal Stackpole and " Wraith Squadron" by Aaron Alston are excellent novels! Wraith Squadron is like the star wars A-Team, it's awesome! Just saying, it would be a shame for someone to be put off to reading some of those books because the idea was perpetuated that they're all bad.😅
I will one hundred percent stand behind the. -Wing series of books. There are some good EU books. Some. But I would argue the majority of them are pretty bad. Even the ones that people love like the Thrawn trilogy are pretty silly. Watch out! It’s an evil clone of Luke Skywalker! You know he’s a clone because his name is Luuke!

Now that they realeased a legends figures they need to release another every once and a while,if they will realease another legends character i want it to be Cade Skywalker or Kyle Katarn.Just someone with a lightsaber

I like how the helmet fits my sh figuarts bruce Lee and how jaina solo matches his yellow track suit color scheme. If we will get more expanded universe figures we better get lowbacca because every solo needs a Wookiee.

You are probably right, I shouldn’t have bought two figures hoping to sell the other. Too many people are doing that and the true fans are missing out. If I do eventually sells it I’ll do it at cost.
i wasnt going to make a judgy response to you for buying two. I bought two because 1 was for a friend. We collectors shouldnt be fighting and trying to profit off each other. We should be helping each other out! I'm glad you're gonna do the right thing if you decide to sell it!

Hey Mike, many thanks for responding to my last comment! I have a quick follow-up question if you have time. From my perception, Jana's purple lightsaber blade is a matching shade to the detail paint on the hilt. Since the blade is transparent, how does that compare to or affect your perception of purple vs. red? Visual optics is a super fascinating subject. Anyhow, Jana is one of my favorite Black Series figs ever. I didn't even vote for her but I'm dang glad she won. (I wrote in C-21 Highsinger, Fett's assassin droid, via SWNN...still want.)
My fiance confirms that the stripe on Jaina's saber is the same color as the blade. Its hard for me to tell shades. It definitely looks similar, but the transparency of the blade makes it super hard for me to be sure. Colors are usually my best guess based on previous guesses. It definitely doesnt look red to me. And Jaina having a red lightsaber doesnt make sense anyways so I can rule that out. The blade looked too dark to be blue, but the strike could have been a dark blue.

Remember last week when I said I wanted a new Darth Maul, well now I have a better idea. I want a new Darth Maul from my FAVORITE portrayal, Star Wars Rebels. I want this Maul to be from his final dual with Obi-wan. With his dual bladed lightsaber with the cane attachment, and a removable hood, I'm not sure if I want the head with the hood or just two rubber hood pieces that you can slide under the head (Just not soft goods) and maybe some removeable hands, I don't know what, maybe a different sculpt but I just think this would be an awesome figure, and with your wishlist video it made me want to make my own black series wishlist and now I have about 20 figure ideas

Definitely a popular figure - wouldn't doubt Target would have her. BS figures clear out fast in my area. Happened to pop in to a Vintage Stock that took over an old Hastings property, and they had over a dozen Jainas. Tempted to grab more than one, but I followed the Toy Galaxy rule... haha.
the Toy Galaxy rule is super important! If I grab more than 1 its to directly help another collector. Never for personal gain.

Jaina did have a purple saber so that detail is right however the hilt they gave her isnt hers. I can let that pass however since her hilt has only been shown twice.
Yeah I was just curious about how often her lightsaber was even shown. She’s like 90% just in books where there are no pictures. Where did they get the design?
Mike Kaess Star Wars Insider used to publish short stories during the EU era that fell into the EU canon. Jaina featured in a short story called "Good Hunting" and along with the story was a full page drawing of Jaina and her lightsaber. Her lightsaber hilt is also shown on the Japanese covers of New Jedi Order novels, Destinys Way, Force Heretic 1, and Force Heretic 3. Kotobukiya also made a "Beautiful Girl" statue of Jaina that portrayed her with the same lightsaber as shown in the depictions listed above. She is shown with another lightsaber in some other unofficial illustrations. With all that said, the new lightsaber with this fig actually has a lot more character. If you like up Jaina Solo Good Hunting you will find that her lightsaber is actually pretty boring.

if Disney Bring back Mara Jade, Shannon McRandle should be her Voice Actress in a Star Wars Cartoon, & use her Likeness for a Mara Jade Black Series.

Because the TiE Fighter didn’t sell all that well at full price. That thing hung around for ages until it went on clearance. I think Hasbro is hesitant to commit to anything that big again.
Maybe they could do a Haslab crowdfunder for a 6" scale of the X-Wing If they can sell 5000+ Jabba's Sailbarge I'm sure they could get the fan backing for an X-wing.
i have a pretty good feeling that's one of the main purposes for Haslab. The Sailbarge was a huge success. I'm sure we'll see some high priced Black Series vehicles too.
There are so many fans voting for old Legends EU in these "fans' choice" polls, just because they are from the Legends EU, that I don't think they should really be considered "fans' choice" anymore. I wasn't really a fan of the old Legends EU even when it was considered canon, so I have no interest in getting Jaina Solo.
I thought the same way you did, honestly. But seeing the figure in person, I just really appreciate it as a figure with a Black Series aesthetic. I don’t have any real attachment to Jaina. When I stopped reading the books she was still a teen.

I guess I am going to be that guy, although the character doesn't officially doesn't exist. Jaina Solo is a little person in the old canon. The figure is way too tall. She is shorter than Carrie Fisher.

Sounds good! Pistols? Fisticuffs? There are some good EU stories. But a majority of them aren’t good. Anything written by Kevin J Anderson is awful. But nothing is worse than Barbara Hambly.
My good sir, I believe pistols shall be quite suitable. In all seriousness, while I do think the old legends canon is better than the new Disney canon (at least post return of the jedi), I don't at all mind a difference in opinion, and do agree that some eu stories got a little out of hand. Keep up the nice reviews.

I just wanna say that I understand what it's like to be COLOR DEFICIENT. Color blindness means you don't see ANY color. Color deficient people mistake colors for another color. Purples can often look blue. Purple is my favorite color because it can have so many different hues and types. But it's a bitch because it can be mistaken for blue, depending on its hue. Twas an honest mistake, and not a very important one.
