Not to sound rude, but just because she raised a bright, educated, and intelligent daughter doesn't mean that the daughter Amyah will have the opportunity to go to certain places. That's why Amyah and Alena were surprised. Remember when Amyah tried to apply for other colleges, and it said rejected or waitlisted? That's probably why Alena is surprised because Amyah has been trying to get into one of those colleges for months. Congratulations Amyah!

@@SommerIsley yes! I totally agree with you! Not everyone went to college and have a degree became what they are because of that. Some did what they needed to do to fit their needs you know. I agree! The way I screamed with her when she got accepted into NYU Shanghai!... I really hope she goes there. I love seeing black women traveling, and learning different languages.
As a school counselor this warms my heart. She is such an amazing person and she will so well anywhere she goes. I work internationally and I’ve just gone through this cycle with my students. To get into UCLA is quite the accomplishment! It’s very few and emotional time. The best thing is Ms Amiya has choices. I absolutely love that she applied to NYU Shanghai. I’m headed there myself to work next year. Whatever her choice, I wish her the best. Congratulations sweetie! 💙💙💙
Why do I feel like we are all a part of their family? I got so excited hearing the great news!!! Just like I am really her grandmother!!! So proud of you sweetie!!!
Congrats on getting into UCLA!!! One of my siblings and I went there. I was there throughout most of the 70s from freshman year through grad school and my sibling a decade later. It's great that you got in as there were over 145,000 applicants for 2023. UCLA is still the most applied to school in the U.S. and has been voted the #1 public university in the U.S. by U.S. News and World Report. They've been voted #1 now for 6 years straight. Great school. Great professors. Great experience. And the price is not outrageous for top education. Back in the day, my parents paid my entire education, including dorm fees. When I started as a freshman, the tuition was $300 for the entire school year (3 quarters) and dorm fees were $1,323 a year for the 20-meal plan. I still have my old reg cards with the tuition amount on them. I lived in the dorm for the first two years although my parents just lived across the freeway. The second two years I got an apartment and then moved back home during grad school and commuted the 50 minutes across the freeway. My parents started a college fund for me before I was conceived. One needs to plan ahead. Their parents planned for them as they also went off to university way back in the day, one during the war and the other almost at the end of the war. One parent is still active in education although retired 30 years ago. I still love UCLA and have been active in one way or the other as well as having taught, off and on, within its system for a couple decades. I remember going to my first non-UCLA job interview after graduation and got a call back in less than an hour and was offered a position. UCLA even carried a lot of weight back then. I ended up staying at that main job position for three decades before retiring out at an early age a little over a decade ago. I was one for getting into a profession, focusing, and being able to get out at least a decade before the normal retirement age of 65. It takes focus to reach one's goals. Always keep the focus. Congrats on all of your university acceptance letters. Now to choose. Greetings from Los Angeles.

I went alone to a country I had never been to before with two big suitcases. I felt like it was an opportunity I could not turn down. It was the best decisions I ever made. In many ways I learned more from living in another country then from university itself. In 'my day', we looked for the thick envelopes in the mailbox, A thick enevelope was your acceptance and welcome packet. A thin envelope was a no. 😂 I now live in Denmark where education is completely free. We pay nothing here---and in fact, the government actually pays all students a salary for going to school. on top of the totally free education. Congratulations Amayah, Alana, and Joe!!
@@shareesecastillo8725 Hi, I'm an American living here and it applied to me. 👍 However, it may depend on what type of visa you move here with. First child energy. I am crying. So proud. So happy. So amazing. Oh my gosh. Of course,I'm not surprised!! She's so brilliant. What an amazing family. So happy I found this with the fifth child's birth. Then I saw the videos from when the first four were so young.
To be that intelligent and to be able to learn, comprehend and do difficult things is truly a gift. I am so proud of you and know that you will make the decision for the university that is right for you. Congratulations on all of your accomplishments. I can't wait to see your journey. Keep us informed and continue to do you! You are SO SMART!
Alena and Joe, I’ve been following you since before COVID-19 epidemic! I have watched just about all your videos and watching your children literally grow up! I can’t believe your oldest is getting ready for college. Oh my goodness! I’m so proud of her! Girl, get ready when you and Joe takes her to college and move in. I’m 60 years old and the most hurtful part of my five children leaving home was when I sent them off to college. I cried two weeks before we even took them to move in. My husband cried the most was the day of when we dropped off one of my boys. Like you and Joe, kept close ties on our kids. My most proud moment in all of your videos was when I witnessed your dissertation of you getting your PhD. I was in absolute tears…..tears of complete JOY! Yet, here your daughter decides to go to college and gets accepted. Job well done!!!!’ Keep doing what you two are doing, your videos are beautiful and educational. Old as I am, have had thoughts about going back to school and getting my degree. Continue on with your wonderful endeavors as well as the childrens’!♥️
Wow this is so darn amazing! I literally teared up watching this seeing how happy she was to get accepted into college is so beautiful because a lot of kids nowadays don’t even want or even care about college. Berkeley is an amazing school and also has an amazing cheer team and just sports teams in general I applaud her and can’t wait to see what she excepts and chooses for her college.
Wow. I am impressed. Amyah is SUCH a special young woman and I know she will excel in whichever path she choses. She has set the best example for her younger siblings - work hard and reap all the rewards. Every single one of them. She deserves it all. I can't stop smiling. I am so happy for her! Congratulations, girl!
Congratulations, Amyah!!!! Congratulations on all of the acceptances, but choose what will be best for you. I agree with you Auntie about have enough Black students on campus, so that you have that balance in your life.
Never select something based on the number of other Black people or external factors. Select based on what is best for your future and interests instead no matter how many Black people are there or not. I never would have learned more than five languages nor would have lived abroad in Europe with that kind of mentality. Do YOU based on your own passions, not based on demographics.
Epic! So proud of Her also proud of you two as well mom and dad! You guys did such a great job parenting this beautiful young woman. She's loving, a woman of God, kind, thoughtful, caring, intelligent and a great big sister. The world is your Amyah!!! No matter what school you choose, you will be awesome!
I am a PhD student at UCLA. It’s an amazing school. A lot of resources, things to do, great for the cost etc. Hope you decide to go officially Amaya! Also my MA was in the department that Amaya was accepted into and I was working in that office for a quarter. If you have questions I’d be happy to answer.
Im tearing up as if she’s my child. I’ve watched her grow and we are all so proud of you Amyah! ❤ Make the decision that is right for you and keep flourishing 💗
Congratulations Amayah! I'm so happy and excited for you. Every time Alena screemed, I got a bit emotional 😢. She's one proud and happy mamma. Berkley and Shanghai - Wow! Wishing you many blessings and loads of success on this next chapter of your studies! 🙏✌💯
Amyah, congratulations on all of your acceptance letters. Remember rejection is protection! Love yourself & accountability is the highest form of self love. You are blessed to have so many accepted letters. Others may get one or two offers, count your blessings. You truly hold the candle for intelligents, family support, faith & love. God is truly watching over all of his angels. The best to you & your family. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Congratulations, Amyah and the MAZELEE family!!! I have been following you guys for over 5 years now and you all are the best. You all have done an amazing job raising your children and the results of all you hard work are showing up in this moment. Amyah - You received so many “acceptance” responses, and I wish you all the best as you make the choice of which University to attend. However, it is normal to focus on the “rejection” responses. Even though it seems to be 3-4, your mom said it best “…they may not have been the best fit for you…” and moms always know best! No matter if it’s schools, jobs or relationships, “REJECTION IS PROTECTION”! What God has for you belongs to you. Good luck, many blessings and I wish you all the best on your education journey!!!!🎉❤🙋🏾♀️🤞🏾👍🏾🙏🏾
Congratulations Amayah on your acceptance in the colleges of your choice, you can now choose at your leisure. I know you will excell at which ever one you choose in the end. Good luck young lady.

Congratualtions Amayah!! So joyful to see you surrounded by your loved ones when finding out if you got into college! I was alone when I found out about getting into the top university of my country and had close ones hate on that fact. I persevered through university and am currently working at my dream career (which wasnt my dream career upon entering university - which is part of growth) and I’m happy. I went through so many mental breakdowns alone. I am so proud of your family for being number one supporters of each other! And stop stealing Ajoui’s cheese puffs haha ❤congratulations!

CONGRATS BEAUTIFUL!! ANY OF THOSE COLLEGES YOU APPLIED FOR WOULD BE LUCKY TO HAVE YOU!! YOU WILL GO WHERE YOUR MEANT TO BE. GREAT THINGS ARE AHEAD! CANT WAIT TO FOLLOW YOUR JOURNEY WITH YOU. ❤
That's not favor, those types of colleges pick people based on extracurricular activities and your availability to do whatever the college asks of you. They pick "Yes Ma'am" type of people for a special goal and purpose. It's a grooming tactic for future purposes. [Do college applications ask about extracurricular activities? While grades and test scores are important, colleges also want to see the person you're becoming and the skills you've learned outside of class. They want to know what makes you unique, and the extracurricular activities you participate in will help you stand out.]
Congratulations on your acceptances Amayah. I totally get the anticipation. I got rejected from Howard for an online degree Program but two days after they offered me a spot for the in person program and I’ll be attending in the fall!
Huge congrats!! Handled the news with grace and class!! Any school who let be apart of your legacy is blessed/lucky! You make the school not the other way around! Happy for you!
Congratulations, Amyah! I have been waiting for this video for the longest time. I think it is really cool that you are learning Chinese and want to experience a different culture. I hope you get into the program you want at UC Berkeley. I think it would be awesome to go to school in China for two years. What an experience. I guess NYU would be good too. It is just so expensive. I prey you get good scholarships so your debt after graduation is minimal. The world is yours. I graduated from Syracuse University. Lol! Congratulations! Kudos to the aunt as well. She's a great teacher/instructor. She should open an academic academy.
There is no way Amyah is going to college, oh man I am getting old. It's been so beautiful to see your family over the years blossom. Praise God!
It’s been an honor to watch you grow up over the years. Congrats on all your acceptances! Rejection always means God’s protecting you. Wishing you all God’s blessings as you enter this next chapter ❤
First child energy. I am crying. So proud. So happy. So amazing. Oh my gosh. Of course,I'm not surprised!! She's so brilliant. What an amazing family. So happy I found this with the fifth child's birth. Then I saw the videos from when the first four were so young.
Why did I cheer super loud when Akeeba said, "Ok, in state tuition!!!!" 😂😂. Congratulations Amaya 🎉
Congratulations Amaya, any school is proud to have such an intelligent, well rounded young woman! You’ll do great wherever you land!
I watched these children grow and today with tears in my eyes, i celebrates with you guys. Congratulations baby girl.
Congratulations Amayah!!!! Your hard work paid off and you have so many options! Your future is looking bright 👏🏻☀️👩🏾🎓
OH MY GOODNESS!! This is so heartwarming...I'm a proud Jamaican Internet Auntie!! Congratulations sweetheart and congratulations to your parents.
Can't believe it's that time already for Amaya! She's grown up right in front of our eyes, and so quickly! Congratulations!!! ❤
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾.. she’s going to excel no matter where she goes, she a hard worker.

So proud of Amayah! I know she is going to accomplish many things wherever she decides to go. She is a very driven and intelligent young lady. 🎉🎉🎉

And stop stealing Ajoui’s cheese puffs haha

CONGRATULATIONS AMYAH! GOD SHOW HER FAVOR THROUGH HER EDUCATIONAL JOURNEY.😇
So proud of her. Watching her grow up on TH-cam and now seeing her going to college ❤. Good job!
Congrats Amayah. Just Like Auntie Said DONT UNDER ESTIMATE YOURSELF. YOU'RE AMAZING & YOU'LL DO GREAT THINGS!!!!

Lol!
Alena, I absolutely love your channel. I both admire and envy you. What a beautiful family. Joe is my imaginary husband. Lol! I love him. He always has a baby in his arms. The baby is gorgeous like all of your kids.
Congratulations, that young ladybhas such a bright future. I feel like she is my daughter I'm so proud of her.
