In this video I use the term A-Spec which actually refers to Asexual, Aromantic, and other forms of attraction that fall under the A-spec such as Asensual. To clear up any confusion Ace-Spec is the term solely used to refer to the Asexual Spectrum. I’ve amended the thumbnail and title to hopefully make things clearer thank you for your feedback.

There are definitely a wide variety to sift through, so never feel afraid to change them until the best one appears.
For me the process seems to involve just adding more and more labels on top of each other rather than swapping them out 😅
Why are you guys in need to find a label..... Live life as you want to.
I know you were likely not expecting a reply to this comment a week after you made it; however, considering the subject matter of this video, I find it important to clarify a few details about labels (especially for those that enjoy scrolling through the comments section).
First of all, I completely understand your viewpoint. This isn't a "how DARE u speak those words h8tr!!!!!!" statement. There are definitely individuals who might feel restricted by conforming to labels, and therefore choose to utilize none of them. This is completely acceptable! No one should be forced to use words that are unsuitable for their specific socio-emotional needs. As long as everyone and everything involved is respectful, consensual, and legal, it's all great.
At the same time, however, there are others who feel a great sense of freedom from the ability to choose labels -- they can provide meaning and closure to a person that wants to determine who they are, without limiting themselves to any specific viewpoint. Whether they pick one, a small few, or several of them, this choice is also acceptable! Again, so long as everyone and everything involved is being respectful, consensual, and legal, their identities are very cool (indeed).
"Living life as one wants" is different for certain people. That is the exact reason why labels are so flexible.
Too Long, Didn't Read: "Labels can be restrictive for some, and thus should not be forced upon unwilling participants" and "Labels can provide great comfort to some, and they should be helpful for those who need them" are two statements that can and should coexist.

I really have no hate for no one, I always had this thought in my head that labels were negative, but like you said people are different, and each one has the right to pursue thier own happiness in any way they want to as long is it doesn't interfere with anybody else happiness, health, and well-being.

Do fictossxual and objectum ssxual also fit under ace-spec? They seem to share many similar problems with the ace community, and I only ever seem to encounter fictos and OS in ace spaces.
Yes and no it depends on the individual really. They share many similarities with Aces and if they feel they fit under the Ace-Spec then that’s where they fit. I plan on doing a video dedicated just to Fictosexual identities soon so hopefully I can explain it more in detail in that.
@@Mx_Jayjay Cool. Do you see objectum swxuality as entirely its own thing, or somewhat overlapping with ace and ficto? So.etimes them seem very similar to me, and sometimes quite different. And would you put something like onerio/somnio-swxuality as a subtype of ficto? And are people who prefer dolls and holograms and tech more like objectums or just a form of ssxually repulsed allo? So many complex variations, lol. I spent some time trying to.figure all this out for my own sake and never reached any conclusions.
@@someonesomeone25 All identities are complicated and beautiful, there will always be an overlap in every Identity group and some identities are harder to place than others which is okay because not all identities need to fit under a specific group. Personally I see Objectum and Ficto as two similar but separate groups. It depends whether you consider fictional characters to be inanimate objects, if it was an attraction to a specific cardboard cutout of a character or a pillow with a character on it then yes I would say they are within the same group. But as a whole they are separate communities. As for being connected to Ace again that falls to the individual to decide they are technically not Allosexual if they don’t relate to being Allo and their experience is likely more connected to being Ace so yes it makes sense they’d be under the Ace-Spec but its always up to them in the end. I hope this helped.
@@Mx_Jayjay Yes,I think that is very good, thank you. I think personally I've come to the conclusion that sexualities and gender identities and all such labels don't really exist in any solid form. All there is are individuals who behave or feel a certain way at a specific time. Like Bob is currently in love with Tim and feels happy when wearing a dress, but last year they were in love with Jane and was happy wearing jeans, and next year they be in love with a cushion and a doll and be happy wearing a fox costume. And they always just Bob being who they are and doing what they want. Their identity is Bob, their ssxuality is Bob.

i was thinking of creating an ace identity for myself. so i usually feel sexual attraction, but i'll go through 4 or 5 day occasional periods where i feel no sexual attraction at all. its basically the opposite of ace spike. i think i'd call it ace dip

i havent watched the full video yet but i just want to note that the word "aspec" in general covers the WHOLE spectrum of a-labels, which also means aro-spec stuff. this video seems to be more about ace-spec labels. as an aroace myself i tend to just say that im aspec or use the word aspec for the community as a whole! ;) i dunno if people use it differently in other communities/places but thats how ive come to get used to it in online spaces at least.
You’re completely correct it does cover the entire Ace and Aro communities. I chose this version because it’s the version I use for myself and honestly didn’t think much about it but I did touch upon calling it Ace-Spec in the video I believe.
@@Mx_Jayjay You did, although not as often as a-spec on its own which made it feel like a-spec mainly referred to ace identities. It just feels like it could have warranted a small mention that the word also covers aro identities since the word is used by the community as a whole (not just coined by aces) but that you've chosen to say a-spec for personal reasons. The aro video uses the word aro-spec rather than a-spec as well, which you probably did to stop any confusion to be had and that's fine, but since this is supposed to be an educational video for people outside of the a-spec community as well, it might be confusing for them if aro/aroace people suddenly use the word a-spec to describe themselves as they might think it stands for the ace-spec community only! I hope that cleared up my concern with the usage of the word a-spec for the video rather than ace-spec. I just don't want people to think that a-spec doesn't cover both or that aro-spec is just another identity that's lumped in with asexual, since it is its own thing. There's no harm done and a-spec is a lovely way to bring us all together rather than apart and I wish to keep it that way :') It was a lovely video over all and I ended up learning a few things I didnt know before. Hey there! Here to introduce the term Orchidsexual, which isn’t in the video, but this is the one I identify with. It means to experience sexual attraction normally, but be repulsed by the idea of yourself actually engaging in sex.

Does anyone know what the opposite of cupiosexual is? I'm currently identifying as gray ace but I find that I sometimes feel sexual attraction but don't like the idea of sexual acts for the most part. I'm thinking I might be acespike, but whenever I hear the cupiosexual I feel like I'm the opposite of it. Idek anymore.
Now that I’ve seen this video, I think I might be Aegosexual and Acespike, like the one time I felt sexual attraction was sharp, sudden and disappeared in 2 minutes.
I know the identity is somewhat similar to ageosexual, but do you have anything on autosexual? It’s a term I’ve seen used and I’m debating adopting it, so I’m trying to do my research!
We’ve not included Autosexual in any entries as of yet, but from our understanding Autosexual is a sexual attraction to oneself over the attraction to others. This doesn’t necessarily mean you have to only be attracted to yourself or not include others in your sexual activity but it’s a strong preference for yourself.

Hi I learned about the term « dysphorasexual » today and I feel like it fits me but I’m always considering if it is valid because if my trauma goes away then i won’t be dysphorasexual anymore
Of course it’s valid even if your trauma goes you still had trauma when you adopted the term right? And the term is for those with trauma so you can absolutely use the term for yourself and continue using it for as long as you feel it fits you.

At the moment Requisexual is debated to be an Exclusive Identity this means that it’s not exclusive but it’s important to make sure you fully look into it before adopting it. If you identify with it there is nothing stopping you from using it especially if you connect with it so deeply. If you consider yourself to be Sex Favourible perhaps the term Cupiosexual may also suit you.

Absolutely, they’re all different ways to explain different elements of your attraction they don’t contradict each other.

*Help me please I am just so confused and I don't know what to identify as anymore.* (Kinda long rant/vent, don't read if you don't want to, have a good day/night💖)
So I have never experienced romantic nor sexual attraction towards anyone ever. I do sometimes have romantic ideas of having a husband and/or kids with sexual and/or romantic relationship, but it's just an idea without actually imagining a real person/fictional character in their place (cupiosexual?? cupioromantic??). I am kind of neutral and slightly negative about having myself a romantic/sexual relationship with anyone (so I'm aroace...), but I do think that if my "perfect conditions would be met" i would like to engage in such relationship.
So I guess I have to find "the only one"? (I guess i was told "oh you just didn't found the right one yet" too much). And that would be if I was true friends with someone of opposite gender (so am I straight?). So like a strong emotional bond, and absolute consent on both sides and on both sides the will to engage in this relationship (demisexual??). But I also had an episodes of feeling sexual but never towards anyone (oh god am I Aremsexual to some extent?) but that could be puberty hormones (... so I'm Abrosexual?). When it comes to sex related topics i often feel somewhat uncomfortable but when it comes to some kimd of sex scenes in movies I can't watch them at all, and usually just stop watching the movie altogether. So maybe I'm Omniasexual, but I personally don't think so.
But I guess generally I am dismissive about romantic and sexual feelings.
So ultimately i feel like 95% aromantic and 80% asexual. I'm so all over the place, and I feel somewhat relatable to most sexualities in asexual spectrum. But honestly I am just so confused about everything and if someone wants to explain at least some things to me I would be very grateful.

Firstly confusion is a natural part of learning about yourself, the more you think about who you are the clearer it will become. It’s entirely possible to be multiple identities at once. Don’t focus on trying to find 1 or 2 perfect terms when 7 can fit you better. Identity is complicated and no two individuals are the same. Feeling confused can be stressful, but again it is a natural part of learning for many. When I was first finding myself I too was confused, I focused on learning as much as I could about Queer identities and eventually just started collecting terms that fit me.
What's the difference between asexual vs apothi vs omni
Asexual is the Umbrella term which both Apothi and Omniasexual fall under it also refers to a lack of sexual attraction which exists as a spectrum. Apothi is another term for Sex Repulsed those who are often adverse to partaking in sexual activity but may or may not feel sexual attraction whereas those who are Omni feel no sexual attraction whatsoever.
