Thank you LCM! I remember your awesome version of it well, and the multiple parts of Waterloo you've made! I would never have had enough figures to attempt Waterloo without the AliExpress ones so they've opened a lot of potential Napoleonic doors 🙂. Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you! I followed some historic accounts (did it wasn't just a pointless charge at the guns and then a withdrawal) bit couldn't resist that nod to the classic film that is such an inspiration!
@@QuackingFilms May I ask where you get your script? In all my studies and enthusiasm about history (since I was a child watching Waterloo, A Bridge Too Far, Battle of the Bulge, and so on with my Daddy), I have found only one or two books that give actual lines spoken by specific people like Ponsonby.
Yes it's quite hard to find full dialogues, but concentrating on a short burst of a battle like this meant I could compare the different articles on it and try to draw a timeline. Bernard Cornwell's "Waterloo" book is a great starting point, and articles on the Waterloo Association website are also good. I was able to swap-out the quote from Napoleon in the film for his actual quote on grey horses. This Article was really helpful for Sergeant Ewart, as it quotes the wording he and Ponsonby used, documented in his own account: ageofrevolution.org/themes/soldiers/soldiers-story-charles-ewart-the-most-illustrious-grey/ The only thing someone on the Waterloo Association pointed out was that the line "Give these to my son" from the film is actually incorrect as Ponsonby's child hadn't been born at the time of his death so he didn't know the gender - although I guess he may have assumed it was a son! Basically I enjoy finding real quotes and incorporating them, and then filling in the blanks with something that makes sense. Thank you for your interest :)
