Americans seem to be the only ones shocked these people aren't American. UK and Australia know who's a legit Yank and who's not. We also notice the occasional breakthrough of their natural accent which Americans may not pick up on.

    • @renlosee5223

The reason, I think, that as Americans, we don't pick up the slips as much is because of just how many accents we have here. Small slips could easily pass for the way a different American accent might say something.
As a side-note, I do find it amusing that people are surprised by someone with the name Rhys anywhere in their name being Welsh. I mean how many Americans do you know with the name Rhys? If it's spelled properly, I can almost guarantee they are Welsh.

Reese from Malcolm in the Middle. Spelt differently, but still a Reese. Also, peanut butter cups and pieces 😄.
I have seen that name pop up on both sides of the ocean with that spelling. So it's possibly more the spelling thing that would tip you off than the sound of the name. Rhys is 100% Welsh.

I went through this entire video, waiting for you to mention Hugh Laurie. Hugh already had a very successful comedy career in English comedy, years before his breakout US role as Dr Gregory House on House MD. Throughout the entire series, he not only spoke as a native US doctor, but had to consistently nail the pronunciation of obscure, medical terms and conditions, all while suppressing his native English accent.

Oliver stark who plays buck on 911 has a huge English accent. You wouldn’t have a clue to hear him on the show. Naveen andrews(lost) is another Brit who hides his accent well. As does Robert Pattinson who you only briefly touched on with this list…But the one that I don’t think many people know about is Vivian Leigh. Miss Scarlett o hara was English and had to take voice lessons to learn how to talk like a southern belle.

I honestly never knew Hugh Laurie had an English accent because I have mostly known him from the TV show House. Before that, I had not heard of him. Kate Winslet was in so many American movies after Titanic, where she uses an American accent, that it wasn't until she was in an interview that you heard her English accent. I'm not saying that they didn't have roles when they used their original accents, just that they have become known for a major part of their career for using American accents, and they should be recognized for it.
