That's a shitty ending. I don't believe Vader would have seen Tohm as a threat in any capacity. That just feels like an over-the-top "Look how evil Darth Vader is! He's sooooo evil!"

The story of Kyle Katarn, the Dark Empire, the young Jedi Knight series where you follow Jacen, Jaina, and their friends, pretty much anything to do with grand Admiral thrawn, Mara Jade, pretty much anything to do with Rogue Squadron being my personal favorite, the list goes on; however, there were things that me and a lot of people didn't quite like.
Not everything in the EU was golden, this moment in the video was one of them in my opinion. I also hate it how they killed off Chewbacca by dropping a damn moon on him. I understand why they did it I just didn't particularly care for that moment in the story.
It's just like with Disney stuff, there's a lot of bull crap that they came up with ; however, there is some pretty enjoyable stuff. A lot of the recent Darth Vader comics for example I found really fun.
(On an unrelated note nice profile pic. Glad Hal Jordan still gets some love despite DC assassinating his character on countless occasions.)

It wasn't Vader that did that, it was Tohm. Take a look and the two pictures again, both Trachta and Vader are shocked (Vader's right hand moves). Tohm on the other hand doesn't move a muscle - cause he planted that bomb.
Why else would Vader say "Well Done Lieutenant" to Tohm?
Detour to Elysium Ok I see it now. Vader wanted to wipeout the prisoners and Tohm being the Vader fanboy that he was, obliged to his wishes. Tohm was trying too hard to impress and be like Vader, therefore following in his footsteps. That was his tragic flaw. He had the potential to lead, but he chose to become a follower to be point where he could have been Vader's rival.
About the scene: I love how subtly they depicted Vader's shock - its easy to miss and when I first read the comic I was honestly wondering who did it. I finally noticed a difference after flitting through both images.

Wow, I guess the ghost prison is considered the best legends darth vader comic for a reason! Must remember to get it myself someday although I'm really liking this new marvel stuff too which I do own.

I don't like how Vader killed Tohm at the end. Tohm was competent and was seemingly loyal to only thing that warranted his death was the Emperor's liking for the young admiral.

I'd simply like to say, the comics are really interesting, but with your voice and the way you tell their stories, adding little details (like how the guy's scream bounced off the buildings), is what made this last 5 videos great and personally i'd love to see more, more, MORE! :D

I love the way the artist drew Vaders arms in these comics, the idea that the suit fits snug on his body, and outlines his muscular build looks really good on Vader.

Imagine if Qui-Gon left the order for Shmi a few years later! He'd become Anakin's adoptive father this way, but because of the Jedi rules Anakin would have to keep a distance between himself and them, so he'd still be vulnerable to the Dark Side XD

Not sure if there's a video on this but I came across this theory that I find interesting: Obi-Wan's "High ground" quote during his duel with Anakin wasn't a warning, but a provocation.
Thinking on it, their last conversation before this was when Anakin says "From my point of view, the Jedi are evil" and Obi-Wan replies, "Well, then, you are lost!" Obi-Wan is saying that he's now finally given up on any hopes of Anakin being redeemed and believes his only option now is to kill Anakin.
Also Obi-Wan knew his former padawan was both proud and arrogant, more so now after turning to the Dark Side, so he knew that Anakin could be provoked into making a mistake. This is also backed up from the fact that Obi-Wan's fighting style, Soresu, is based upon the mentality of the fighters rather than the physical requirements. The Soresu master can choose to either kill, disarm or reason with their opponent to end the fight. Obi-Wan tried to reason with Anakin but that didn't work so his only options left were to kill or disarm.
When Obi-Wan says "Don't try it" he knew that Anakin would become enraged if someone told him he couldn't do something. This sudden burst of anger may boost Anakin's powers of aggression but it would cloud his judgement, as Obi-Wan witnessed during their battle with Dooku on Geonosis. Anakin would blindly charge into the fight and Obi-Wan, aware of Anakin's fatal error, would be ready to strike down his former padawan without hesitation.
One day in Tatooine a 8 year old Anakin was walking through the flaky desert of Tatooine, and then a sudden sand storm came rushing at him the young anakin covering his eyes but leaving just a small slip between his middle and ring fingers so one eye can peer out as he kept walking he heard the familiar roars of Tuskans the wind got so hard clumps of sand were being thrown at Skywalker, one clump was so big it knocked anakin over. Laying on his back he looked up and saw the blowing sand slow down, so slow he could finally see as he sat up he saw a small group of Tuskans standing on a mound of sand he heard a echo through his head saying _HIGH GROUND_ he was chased by them back to s small shop owned by Watto as he quickly arrived at the shop he yelled "help the Tuskans are following me!" Watto and his goons laughed as Anakin turned around and saw nothing but sand. And he heard it again _HIGH GROUND_

Vader is still my favorite chanticleer in star wars. so much going on inside that makes him such a cool individual! great job on telling the series.
This could make an interesting theory if grievous was captured in the clone wars and put in the prison then taken out by vader during this attack, grievous was far more than either an ordinary warrior or a general so it makes me wonder if he would have been kept on in the empire due to his incredible tactical abilities and (since all this is legends) his incredible lightsaber skills
Probably not. Grievous was intended to be the rabid dog of the Separatists. To eventually be put down.

I have to admit: this is actually one of my favorite endings to a Darth Vader comic... quintessential Sith mentality. It really highlights his ruthlessness, his initiative - it seems Sidious’s words echoed with his apprentice almost immediately. It seems to me also that the Emperor expected this to happen - why else would he so directly make Vader’s position apparently vulnerable to change?
