THARAVADU OLD AGE RETREAT - MALAYALAM - FULL VERSION

SOBHA MEMORIAL CHARITABLE TRUST was established in June 2008.
The Trust has been established by P.S. Menon, an NRI, in memory of his wife Sobha, who passed away suddenly in August 2007. Shobha suffered an embolic stroke in early February 2001 and fully recovered from the effect of stroke and was coping reasonably well with medication before she passed away suddenly leaving behind her husband, only daughter Shilpa, her mother and two brothers.
The intended activities of the trust are to provide whatever possible physical and financial assistance to poor and needy people in our villages for medical, educational and other social needs. The Trust also intends to establish an old age retreat "Tharavadu" meeting international standards on hygiene, healthcare and safety to provide good community living to the elderly people in our society who are financially sound but are left alone due to circumstances beyond the control of their children. Subject to Government approval, a wellness centre is being planned adjacent to "Tharavadu" where both Alopathic and Ayurvedic consultancy will be available, free of cost, to both general public and the residents of Tharavadu.
The Trust has already commenced its charitable activities by providing assistance to financially weaker families to build and own their own house, financial assistance to families for the marriage of their children, medical assistance to people who are unable to support their own hospitalization expenses themselves etc.
If anyone wants to donate money to this noble cause, they may send the donations to The Trust's bank account with Dhanalakshmi Bank ltd., Kochi. The Trustees will ensure that such donations, if any, received will be distributed only to the most deserving people irrespective of their caste or creed. Demand drafts drawn in favour of "Sobha Memorial Charitable Trust" may please be sent to the Trust's address given herein.
Trust has taken about 8500 square meters of land on long term lease at Vellanchery, Malappuram District, Kerala State (about 3 kms away from Kuttipuram) for building the senior citizens retreat called "Tharavadu". The retreat will be run on a non profitable but self supporting basis. All the required initial investment has been met from the Trust's own fund. The facility has already been opened effective September 2011 and is fully ready to receive senior citizens meeting the Trust's requirements.
Mr.Therambil Ramakrishnan, MLA and Ex Speaker, Kerala State Assembly, is a Patron of the Trust.
